An Intelligent Privacy Protection Scheme for Efficient Edge Computation Offloading in IoV

As a pivotal enabler of intelligent transportation system(ITS), Internet of vehicles(Io V) has aroused extensive attention from academia and industry. The exponential growth of computation-intensive, latency-sensitive,and privacy-aware vehicular applications in Io V result in the transformation from cloud computing to edge computing,which enables tasks to be offloaded to edge nodes(ENs) closer to vehicles for efficient execution. In ITS environment,however, due to dynamic and stochastic computation offloading requests, it is challenging to efficiently orchestrate offloading decisions for application requirements. How to accomplish complex computation offloading of vehicles while ensuring data privacy remains challenging. In this paper, we propose an intelligent computation offloading with privacy protection scheme, named COPP. In particular, an Advanced Encryption Standard-based encryption method is utilized to implement privacy protection. Furthermore, an online offloading scheme is proposed to find optimal offloading policies. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that COPP significantly outperforms benchmark schemes in the performance of both delay and energy consumption.

Foundation models(FMs) [1] have revolutionized software development and become the core components of large software systems. This paradigm shift, however, demands fundamental re-imagining of software engineering theories and methodologies [2]. Instead of replacing existing software modules implemented by symbolic logic, incorporating FMs' capabilities to build software systems requires entirely new modules that leverage the unique capabilities of ***, while FMs excel at handling uncertainty, recognizing patterns, and processing unstructured data, we need new engineering theories that support the paradigm shift from explicitly programming and maintaining user-defined symbolic logic to creating rich, expressive requirements that FMs can accurately perceive and implement.

Identifying patients in need of psychological treatment with language representation models

Early diagnosis of psychological disorders is very important for patients to regain their health. Research shows that many patients do not realize that they have a psychological disorder or apply to different departments for treatment. The detection of hidden psychological disorders in patients will both increase the quality of life of patients and reduce the traffic of patients who apply to the wrong department. This study aimed to determine whether patients who consult a physician for any reason need psychological treatment. For this purpose, the relationships, and similarities between the sentences of previous psychiatric patients and the sentences of newly arrived patients were analyzed. Domain-based trained ELECTRA language model was used to detect sentence similarities semantically. In the study, the dialogues of patients with physicians in 92 different specialties were analyzed using the MedDialog dataset, which consists of online physician applications, and the DAIC-WOZ dataset. As a result of the experiments, 90.49% success was achieved for the MedDialog dataset and 89.36% for the DAIC-WOZ dataset. With the proposed model, patients in need of psychological treatment were identified and the medical departments where psychological problems were revealed the most were determined. These divisions are Neurology, Sexology, Cardiology, and Plastic Surgery, respectively. With the findings obtained, complications caused by psychological problems and types of diseases that are precursors to psychological disorders were determined. To the best of our knowledge, this article is the first study that aims to analyze all psychological illness instead of focusing on any of the psychological problems (depression, OCD, schizophrenia, etc.) and validated by electronic health records. © The Author(s) 2024.

Using large language model to generate vehicle type recognition algorithm can reduce the burden of developers and realize the rapid development of projects. In this paper, LangChain large model interface provided by Baidu Qianfan large-scale platform is used to realize the auxiliary development of vehicle type recognition. With the support of large model, the training and testing model of vehicle type recognition is constructed by using deep learning method, and the fine-grained vehicle image classification and recognition system is realized. At present, the ResNet50 Enhance MEAL2 model is used for classification recognition, supporting 1748 types of vehicle classification and recognition. In the Car-Dataset of vehicle data, the Accuracy of the training set is about 95.9%, and the Accuracy of the test set is about 84.3%. The backbone network can support Googlenet. ResNet [18, 34, 50], Inception-v3, Mobilenet-v2 and other common models. The use of language large model in this project improves the efficiency of development. © 2024 IEEE.

Exploring and Enhancing Placement of IDS in RPL: A Federated Learning-Based Approach

In RPL security, intrusion detection (ID) plays a vital role, especially given its susceptibility to attacks, particularly those carried out by insider threats. While numerous studies in the literature have proposed intrusion detection systems (IDS) utilizing diverse techniques, the placement of such systems within RPL topology remains largely unexplored. This study aims to address this gap by rigorously evaluating three intrusion detection architectures, considering central and distributed placement, across multiple criteria including effectiveness, cost, privacy, and security. The findings underscore the significant impact of attacker position and the proximity of IDS to attackers on detection outcomes. Hence, alongside the evaluation of traditional intrusion detection architectures, this study explores the use of federated learning (FL) for improving intrusion detection within RPL networks. FL's decentralized model training approach effectively addresses the impact of attacker position on IDS performance by ensuring the collection of relevant information from nodes regardless of their proximity to potential attackers. Moreover, this approach not only mitigates security concerns but also minimizes communication overhead among ID nodes. Consequently, FL reduces the need for extensive data transfer, thus mitigating the impact of packet loss and latency inherent in lossy networks. Additionally, the study investigates the effect of local data sharing on FL performance, clarifying the balance between effectiveness and security. © 2014 IEEE.

The relay node is the transit center of the sensor Internet of Things communication, and the rationality of its selection is of great significance to ensure the stability of the Internet of Things communication and information throughput. This paper proposes a method of selecting relay nodes based on optical fiber to maximize the throughput of the sensing Internet of Things. By building a sensor Internet of Things model, find the main lobe in the target fiber sensor base station, and identify the signal transmitted by the light source node. Select the relay nodes that can transmit the known optical channel status to other nodes in the candidate nodes, remove the nodes that cannot maximize the throughput, obtain the average received signal to noise ratio of the sensor Internet of Things based on statistical independent distribution, and select the appropriate fiber sensor antenna to complete the relay node selection. Simulation results show that the outage probability of the proposed method approaches zero when the number of nodes is 22;When the power of the light source node is 30 dBm, the network throughput reaches 98%. © 2023 IEEE.

A machine learning approach for skin lesion classification on iOS: implementing and optimizing a convolutional transfer learning model with Create ML

The integration of machine learning (ML) into mobile applications presents unique challenges, particularly in resource-constrained environments such as iOS devices. Skin lesion classification is a critical task in dermatology, where accurate and efficient diagnostic tools can significantly aid in early detection of malignant lesions. This study aims to implement a machine learning-based iOS mobile application and develop a binary classification model for skin lesion images to determine whether a lesion is malignant. The research utilized Create ML to develop a convolutional neural network optimized for iOS, employing a transfer learning approach. A logistic regression model was cascaded with the convolutional neural network N to enhance classification accuracy. The model's performance was assessed through various validation metrics, ensuring its robustness and efficiency within the constraints of mobile hardware. A curated dataset from the International Skin Imaging Collaboration archive was used for training and testing. The model achieved an accuracy of 92%, a precision of 90%, a recall of 93%, and an F1-score of 91% in classifying skin lesions. These metrics validate the model's efficacy in identifying malignant lesions. Data curation involved collecting, labeling, and preparing a dataset from publicly available sources, ensuring the inclusion of diagnostically relevant features. The final model was integrated into an iOS application using Core ML and Vision frameworks. The developed application demonstrates reliable performance in classifying skin lesions with high accuracy on iOS devices. The inclusion of comprehensive performance metrics justifies the efficacy of the proposed approach. Future work will explore enhancements in model architecture and object detection capabilities to further improve diagnostic precision and application usability. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
