Near infrared (NIR) emitters have attracted much attention due to their advanced application in biomedical sensing/imaging, and telecommunications. However, the development of efficient NIR thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters with the emission over 750 nm is still a challenge. Herein two Y-shaped NIR TADF molecules (Py-TPA and Py-CN-TPA) were introduced. The inclusion of pyridine unit in these two emitters not only extended the conjugated system but also increased the molecular aspect ratios, thereby leading to their high horizontal ratio of emitting dipole orientation (Θ//). In addition, the NIR emitter showed a low Huang-Rhys (HR) factor in thin film relative to that in solution, indicating a low non-radiative transition rate and a high photoluminescent quantum yield (PLQY). Consequently, TADF OLED based on Py-TPA demonstrated a record-high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 22.2% at 726 nm, 16.3% at 747 nm, and 13.2% at 761 nm. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

We investigate the ultrafast spin dynamics of the prototypical topological insulator Bi2Se3 using time-resolved Kerr-rotation (polarization-change) measurements across near-infrared wavelengths. The Kerr-rotation angle ∆θK of Bi2Se3 was found to significantly depend on photon energy around a resonance transition (∼ 1.0 eV) of bulk states, as well as the ellipticity of the pump light, in the presence of spin excitation. The observed photon-energy dependence of ∆θK can be well simulated by assuming spin-dependent refractive-index changes in the presence of band-gap renormalization and state-filling effect upon photoexcitation. Our study delivers comprehensive insights into the opto-spintronic properties of bulk Bi2Se3 and the fundamental physical processes underlying polarization changes. These findings are expected to be crucial in developing ultrafast magneto-optical memory devices, which can perform read-and-write operations in the Terahertz regime. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

— TCP BBR, which was proposed in 2016, has become actually in use in some cases, so the performance fairness between the TCP BBR and other TCPs has become important. In this paper, we introduce an important issue of TCP BBR that its performance drops significantly after the start of a connection in a situation wherein TCP BBR connections communicate competitively with CUBIC TCP connections. For this issue, we reveal that this drop is caused by the increase in RTT by CUBIC TCP. We then propose a method for relieving this significant performance decline by updating its estimated RTT (Round-trip time) on a detection of a large difference between estimated and measured RTTs. We evaluate the proposed method and show that the proposed method substantially mitigates the significant performance drop. © 2020 IEEE

Reliable operation is essential for any power electronic system. Nevertheless, power electronic systems include a large number of fragile elements. Among these elements, the semiconductor devices are the most likely to fail. Recent reliability evaluation tools employ a cycle counting algorithm to compute the degradation in semiconductor devices, where the rainflow algorithm is the most popular. However, since the rainflow was first created for fatigue analysis, this algorithm presents some issues when applied for semiconductor devices. Indeed, the rainflow is unable to compute the effective heating time and time-dependent equivalent mean temperature of each thermal cycle. Besides, half-cycles are counted by conventional rainflow. However, apart from the half-cycles at the end of the data, these half-cycles should not be taken into consideration in the life consumption computation. Therefore, this work proposes a modified rainflow for the lifetime estimation of semiconductor devices. This methodology adapts the conventional rainflow to filter half-cycles and compute the effective heating time and the equivalent mean temperature. The impact of the methodology on lifetime estimation is verified in a modular multilevel converter. Besides, analyses with two distinct mission profiles are performed to evaluate the modified impact on lifetime estimation. The results demonstrated that the modified rainflow significantly affects the lifetime computation of all critical joints of an insulatedgate bipolar transistor (IGBT) module for both case studies considered.

The ability of robots to imitate human learning strategies-rapidly adapting to new tasks without large datasets-has garnered significant attention in meta-learning. Meta-reinforcement learning seeks to enhance robotic agent flexibility across diverse tasks and contexts, offering promise where single-task learning often fails. Despite advancements like multi-task diffusion models and task-weighted optimization mechanisms, effectively training tasks with varying complexities simultaneously remains a major challenge. This paper introduces a novel meta-reinforcement learning method that addresses this issue by clustering the training tasks of robotic arms based on semantic and trajectory similarities, while leveraging adaptive learning rates and task-specific weights proposed by the multitask optimization techniques. Our approach, TEAM, emphasizes performance-driven semantic clustering, optimizing based on robotic task similarity, complexity, and convergence objectives. We also integrate fast adaptive and multi-task optimization of the diffusion model to enhance computational efficiency and adaptability. More specifically, we introduce a cluster-specific optimization technique, using specialized parameters for each group to allow more refined task handling. The experimental validation demonstrates the effectiveness of this scalable method in improving performance, adaptability, and efficiency in real-world, heterogeneous robotic tasks, further advancing robotic computing in meta-reinforcement learning.

Score-based generative models can effectively learn the distribution of data by estimating the gradient of the distribution. Due to the multi-step denoising characteristic, researchers have recently considered combining score-based generative models with the gradient boosting algorithm, a multi-step supervised learning algorithm, to solve supervised learning tasks. However, existing generative model algorithms are often limited by the stochastic nature of the models and the long inference time, impacting prediction performances. Therefore, we propose a Supervised Score-based Model (SSM), which can be viewed as a gradient boosting algorithm combining score matching. We provide a theoretical analysis of learning and sampling for SSM to balance inference time and prediction accuracy. Via the ablation experiment in selected examples, we demonstrate the outstanding performances of the proposed techniques. Additionally, we compare our model with other probabilistic models, including Natural Gradient Boosting (NGboost), Classification and Regression Diffusion Models (CARD), Diffusion Boosted Trees (DBT), and non-probabilistic gradient boosting models. As a new space station succeeding the International Space Station (ISS), a lunar orbit manned base, called "Gateway," is considered and manned lunar surface exploration via the Gateway is also studied. To realize manned lunar surface exploration, new technologies are required to overcome the severe condition of the lunar night. As one of these technologies, applying wireless power transfer (WPT) to a spacecraft, such as a rover, is proposed. The WPT system contributes to the improvement of heat insulation performance and is ideal for reducing the weight of the battery of the spacecraft. In addition, magnetic transmissive multi-layer insulation (MT-MLI) is developed to suppress the generation of eddy currents. In WPT experiments with MT-MLI, the power transmission efficiency between coils is 90% or more. Furthermore, thermal vacuum tests demonstrate that the combination of WPT and MT-MLI reduces thermal leakage. © 2023 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

Drug–target affinity (DTA) prediction is crucial to speed up drug development. The advance in deep learning allows accurate DTA prediction. However, most deep learning methods treat protein as a 1D string which is not informative to models compared to a graph representation. In this paper, we present a deep-learning-based DTA prediction method called N-gram Graph DTA (NG-DTA) that takes molecular graphs of drugs and n-gram molecular sub-graphs of proteins as inputs which are then processed by graph neural networks (GNNs). Without using any prediction tool for protein structure, NG-DTA performs better than other methods on two datasets in terms of concordance index (CI) and mean square error (MSE) (CI: 0.905, MSE: 0.196 for the Davis dataset; CI: 0.904, MSE: 0.120 for Kiba dataset). Our results showed that using n-gram molecular sub-graphs of proteins as input improves deep learning models’ performance in DTA prediction.

This work presents an evaluation of electric field and electric potential in polymeric insulators under different operating conditions. The conditions considered were: intact insulator, with the presence of an external defect and under effect of pollution. Thus, two 138 kV polymeric insulators from different manufacturers were modeled with the aid of multiphysics simulation software that uses Finite Element Method. A thin conductive layer was modeled on the surface of the insulators, in order to investigate the influence of pollution on their electrical performance. The external defect was represented by a cavity deep enough to reach the interface between the coating and the core. In the simulations carried out on polluted insulators, it was detected that the insulator has a resistive characteristic, with low intensity electric field peaks. While the analysis of defective insulators showed that electric field suffers distortions, the intensity of this distortions was sufficient to cause air ionization, localized disruptive discharge and progressive degradation of the polymeric material. From the results obtained for each insulator, it was possible to observe electrical characteristics of the two topologies of polymeric insulators in view of application of different operating conditions © 2020 IEEE.
