Universities can employ information technology as one means of achieving their goals and objectives. Universities can get advantages from information technology, such as effective resource management and information management for decision-making. However, don't forget that the campus must consider what technology is appropriate to assist them achieve their goals, particularly in the current industrial era 4.0 where technology is available with many different choices. The campus requires an enterprise architecture in order to design, manage, and coordinate information technology infrastructure, applications, and processes strategically and thoroughly. The adoption of enterprise information system architecture (EA) is also intended to improve the quality of services provided to internal and external stakeholders. In this case, Enterprise Architecture can help an organization to match its information technology resources with business processes and strategies to achieve their goals. This research was conducted using TOGAF ADM, also known as the Open Group Architecture Framework Architecture Development Method. This method offers best practices for creating enterprise architecture and emphasizes several steps that include creating an architectural vision, information systems, business architecture modeling to help XYZ campus manage all their information technology.

Optimal control for infectious diseases has received increasing attention over the past few decades. In general, a combination of cost state variables and control effort have been applied as cost indices. Many important results have been reported. Nevertheless, it seems that the interpretation of the optimal control law for an epidemic system has received less attention. In this paper, we have applied Pontryagin’s maximum principle to develop an optimal control law to minimize the number of infected individuals and the vaccination rate. We have adopted the compartmental model SIR to test our technique. We have shown that the proposed control law can give some insights to develop a control strategy in a model-free scenario. Numerical examples show a reduction of 50% in the number of infected individuals when compared with constant vaccination. There is not always a prior knowledge of the number of susceptible, infected, and recovered individuals required to formulate and solve the optimal control problem. In a model-free scenario, a strategy based on the analytic function is proposed, where prior knowledge of the scenario is not necessary. This insight can also be useful after the development of a vaccine to COVID-19, since it shows that a fast and general cover of vaccine worldwide can minimize the number of infected, and consequently the number of deaths. The considered approach is capable of eradicating the disease faster than a constant vaccination control method. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Controllable Transmission Switch Based on Asymmetric Coupled Nonlinear Resonances

We explore the design and implementation of a passive reconfigurable switch based on nonlinear Fano resonators asymmetrically coupled to two ports. It was recently shown that asymmetric nonlinear resonators could provide passive bias-free nonreciprocal transmission when they were excited only from one port at a time. Here, we show that, by suitably exploiting time-reversal symmetry, this class of devices can also lead to controllable transmission routing, whereby a low-power pulse injected from one port controls the transmission of a larger power signal injected from the opposite port. This effect can be used to realize a power- and/or phase-controlled transmission switch with minimal power consumption. We first analyze the device with a circuit model to gain physical insights into its operation and to establish optimal operation conditions. We then provide a proof-of-principle experimental demonstration, reporting a device whereby the transmission of a 20-dBm signal can be switched from about 10% to 40% by controlling either the power or phase of a signal about 10 times weaker. This work demonstrates an alternative way to develop low-energy power-controlled reconfigurable switches for applications ranging from radar technology to wireless communications.

The dynamics of coherent acoustic phonons in the Bi2Se3 layered crystal system are investigated. The findings reveal that the frequency evolution of breathing modes with the number of the material quintuple layers and the dispersion relation both can be explained by a modified chain model with a nonuniform coupling force. © Optica Publishing Group 2024, © 2024 The Author(s)

As part of the 2023 PhysioNet Challenge, our team FINDING_MEMO utilized Transformer to predict outcomes using patient EEG data since it excels at dealing with sequential data like EEG. We mainly used the Transformer encoder block's multi-head self-attention to generate representations from the input and leverage several hidden layers to form the final prediction. Using the latest EEG from every patient, our team achieved the challenge score of 0.42 with the hidden validation set (ranked 36th out of 73 invited teams) and obtained a result of 0.37 (ranked 29th out of 36 qualified teams). Our results show a consistent performance across varying EEG recording durations in both the validation and test set. Our team also had the second-best score when evaluated, with only 12 hours of available recordings in the test set. Such promising results showcase the models' generalizability and clinical potential in predicting outcomes for comatose patients, especially for limited available EEG recordings.

Device degradation due to hot carrier injection (HCI) in multi-fin 20 nm and 10 nm N- and P-type FinFET devices are thoroughly analyzed. To further understand the HCI reliability of the four FinFET devices, the device is fabricated with a standard Vt base and low Vt base gate stacks with different work functions. It is evident that: (i) The standard Vt device sustains lower effective stress bias due to the difference in threshold voltage, resulting in a more stable threshold voltage than the low Vt base device, and (ii) the transconductance of the single N- and P-type FinFET is more severely degraded than the multi-fin N- and P-type FinFET, mainly because multi N- and P-type Finfet has coupe effect, which effectively reduces the impact of HCI. © 2023 The Electrochemical Society ("ECS"). Near-space airship-borne communication network is recognized to be an indispensable component of the future integrated ground-air-space network thanks to airships’ advantage of long-term residency at stratospheric altitudes, but it urgently needs reliable and efficient Airship-to-X link. To improve the transmission efficiency and capacity, this paper proposes to integrate semantic communication with massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. Specifically, we propose a deep joint semantic coding and beamforming (JSCBF) scheme for airship-based massive MIMO image transmission network in space, in which semantics from both source and channel are fused to jointly design the semantic coding and physical layer beamforming. First, we design two semantic extraction networks to extract semantics from image source and channel state information, respectively. Then, we propose a semantic fusion network that can fuse these semantics into complex-valued semantic features for subsequent physical-layer transmission. To efficiently transmit the fused semantic features at the physical layer, we then propose the hybrid data and model-driven semantic-aware beamforming networks. At the receiver, a semantic decoding network is designed to reconstruct the transmitted images. Finally, we perform end-to-end deep learning to jointly train all the modules, using the image reconstruction quality at the receivers as a metric. The proposed deep JSCBF scheme fully combines the efficient source compressibility and robust error correction capability of semantic communication with the high spectral efficiency of massive MIMO, achieving a significant performance improvement over existing approaches. Tunneling metal-insulator-metal (MIM) junctions can exhibit an open-circuit photovoltage (OCPV) response under illumination that may be useful for photodetection. One mechanism for photovoltage generation is hot carrier tunneling, in which photoexcited carriers generate a net photocurrent that must be balanced by a drift current in the open-circuit configuration. We present experiments in electromigrated planar MIM structures, designed with asymmetric plasmonic properties using Au and Pt electrodes. Decay of optically excited local plasmonic modes preferentially creates hot carriers on the Au side of the junction, leading to a clear preferred directionality of the hot electron photocurrent and hence a preferred polarity of the resulting OCPV. In contrast, in an ensemble of symmetric devices constructed from only one Au, polarity of the OCPV has no preferred direction. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper presents an ac-dc-ac converter with six controlled switches for single-phase systems applied as a universal active power filter (UAPF). The proposed topology is feasible for compensating voltages swells and harmonics generated by nonlinear loads. The difference between the conventional and proposed topology is the replacement of a controlled leg (composed of IGBTs) for an uncontrolled leg (composed only of diodes). For performance comparisons, current THD, switching and conduction losses of the semiconductors, average switching frequency, and power in the transformer were used as parameters. Control and pulsewidth modulation techniques based on space vector approaches were developed to eliminate zero-crossing distortions caused by the use of the uncontrolled leg. Simulation and experimental results were presented for validation of the mathematical model. © 2020 IEEE.
