Of the wide-ranging applications of microwave engineering from nondestructive testing, and food preparation to sterilization, medical imaging applications have attracted the most focus. This is because microwave imaging offers the potential for low-cost and non-ionizing imaging technology in the wake of personalized medicine that necessitates regular scanning. This work proposed herein investigated antenna design that can achieve better performance metrics including overall gain, directivity, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Real-time imaging of the bones is crucial for rehabilitation in sports, elderly homes, and emergency systems. Our design operating at 2.541 G Hz offers a gain of 5.041dB, with unidirectional whose main lobe is at 0 degrees. By adopting reactive impedance surfaces and artificial magnetic conductors the scattered radiation is greatly reduced making the SAR lower as compared to existing work. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the topology and design of sequential shunt regulators for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite applications. The objectives of the study are to provide main bus regulation in low-power LEO satellites and to reduce the effect of parasitic capacitance, which has become an important problem in GaAs-based multi-junction solar panels. This issue gets even more severe and widespread with the increase in satellite power needs. The bus regulation is achieved by a regulator based on the S3R topology designed in a modular way providing high reliability for space projects. It consists of five regulating stages with a power of 200 W each. In addition, a properly sized passive current limiter is added to eliminate parasitic capacitance effects. The whole design is verified via simulation. The performance under varying loads haven been truly investigated, and compliance to design inputs is compared. In conclusion, the results have demonstrated that the design of S3R regulator successfully maintains the main bus voltage under varying load conditions while providing maximum reality for space applications. © 2023 IEEE.

Pure metallic reflectarray antennas have good power efficiency and low fabrication cost, limited to single-band operation in the past. A dual-band reflectarray antenna is developed for two directional beams by two feeds. The reflecting elements are metal waveguides and have novel properties of both resonant and non-resonant modes at the two frequency bands. The low and high-frequency bands can be easily separated by the cutoff frequency of waveguide modes. The phase-changing mechanisms via ray optics and fundamental waveguide modes, respectively, provide simple formulations for the elemental structure design of directional beams. Radiation characteristics of the linear and circular polarizations are cross-examined with a good performance by full-wave simulations using HFSS, FEKO, and CST at 28 and 60 GHz bands for 5G front-haul network applications. In particular, we have used HFSS to simulate the reflecting elements' basic characteristics of phase variation, FEKO to simulate the linear polarization antenna case, and CST to simulate the circular polarization antenna case, respectively. © 2023. The use of cryptography techniques to guarantee confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of sensitive data has become mandatory. Besides, advancements in quantum computers are gradually posing a threat to public key encryption technology. Without proper security measures, fraudsters may easily gain access to one's personal and sensitive data. The result of the third round of NIST's Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) process for standardization of public-key cryptography systems brought CRYSTALS-Kyber as the first mechanism selected for key encapsulation. The aim of this study is to provide the specification of a reconfigurable CRYSTAL-Kyber accelerator using High-Level Synthesis (HLS) technology. Our architecture requires about 2200 LUTs, 3001 FFs and 28 DSP on a low-cost Zynq FPGA (XC7Z020-1 CLG400C). The total time spent by the accelerator in a key exchange simulation is approximately 0.84 ms, operating at 100 MHz, and the estimated power consumption in this process is 1.695W. © 2022 IEEE.

In this study, we aimed to develop LED lighting with an emission spectrum effective for microalgae propagation, and fabricated LED lighting with Phosphor layer RGB, which has peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands, and Phosphor layer RG'B', which has broader peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands. In order to examine the effect of microalgae propagation, Closterium ehrenbergii samples prepared at different dilution rates were irradiated with LED illumination light of Phosphor layer RG'B' and Phosphor layer RGB, respectively, for 7 days, and their propagation rates were compared. The results of the experiment showed that Phosphor layer RG'B' produced a higher propagation rate than Phosphor layer RGB. © 2024 IEEE.

Asymmetric field cycling recovery (AFCR) with alternating opposite low E -field cycling is proposed to restore a fatigued ferroelectric (FE) capacitor and is experimentally demonstrated for up to 1012 switching cycles, thereby extending the endurance of FeRAM. Positive and negative asymmetric minor loops (AmLs) with AFCR exhibit nondegradation and complete restoration of Δ 2P r toward unlimited endurance operation. Furthermore, an FE random access memory (FeRAM) array circuit with an inverting amplifier is designed to simultaneously execute Write/Read and Recovery procedures via the AFCR scheme. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Generalized-linear dynamical models (GLDMs) remain a widely-used framework within neuroscience for modeling time-series data, such as neural spiking activity or categorical decision outcomes. Whereas the standard usage of GLDMs is to model a single data source, certain applications require jointly modeling two generalized-linear time-series sources while also dissociating their shared and private dynamics. Most existing GLDM variants and their associated learning algorithms do not support this capability. Here we address this challenge by developing a multi-step analytical subspace identification algorithm for learning a GLDM that explicitly models shared vs. private dynamics within two generalized-linear time-series. In simulations, we demonstrate our algorithm's ability to dissociate and model the dynamics within two time-series sources while being agnostic to their respective observation distributions. In neural data, we consider two specific applications of our algorithm for modeling discrete population spiking activity with respect to a secondary time-series. In both synthetic and real data, GLDMs learned with our algorithm more accurately decoded one time-series from the other using lower-dimensional latent states, as compared to models identified using existing GLDM learning algorithms. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. We develop a novel architecture called "Multi-Resolution Inter-Level Refinement (MR-ILR)"architecture for anomaly prediction in Internet of Things (IoT) data. Our architecture is comprised of three modules: First, the Inter-Level OR module takes the logical OR of the vector that represents the past anomaly states in IoT data and represents the occurrence of an anomaly state at increasingly coarse resolutions. Second, a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) predicts the occurrence of anomaly states at any given resolution. Third, the anomaly predictions at successive resolutions are combined in Refiner modules to produce more accurate anomaly predictions. Our architecture provides the flexibility to produce anomaly predictions at distinct temporal resolutions. We compare the performance of our MR-ILR architecture against MLP and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) benchmark models. The results show that our architecture significantly outperforms both of these benchmark models with respect to the F1-score. This work represents an important advance in solving the challenging problem of anomaly prediction in IoT data and has the potential to be applied to a much wider range of problems that target anomaly prediction. © 2022 IEEE.

A 1500x ILRS/IHRS with a high cell current of 100 nA/ cell (J = 83 A/cm2) is achieved by antiferroelectric (AFE) vertical ferroelectric tunnel junctions (V-FTJs) that demonstrates multilevel, a self-rectifying rate > 1000x, and macro operation. The stackable 3 D architecture integrating multiple layers of AFE V-FTJs with contact optimization further increases memory density. Robust endurance > 109 cycles at |4V| and stable nonvolatile data retention > 104 sec with extrapolation to 10 years are achieved. The proposed cell contact V-FTJ by AFE is a promising pathway toward BEOL NVMs by a NAND/NOR-based framework. © 2023 JSAP.

In this work, the transient current behavior of metal-insulator-semiconductor tunnel diode (MISTD) with oxide removal at the gate edge has been investigated. With an oxide-removed structure at the gate edge, the edge-removed (ER) MISTD not only exhibits reduced reverse bias current but also demonstrates enhanced transient current compared to conventional co-planar MISTD. These improved characteristics of ER MISTD can be attributed to the absence of oxide charges outside the gate edge and the insufficient supply of minority carriers. We also proposed a two-state transient current operation and tested the device's endurance. Finally, we examined the relationship between oxide thickness and the current window and found that the current window is maximum when EOT is around 3.1 nm. Based on these properties, edge-removed MISTD shows potential as a dynamic transient memory device. © 2023 ECS-The Electrochemical Society.
