At present, ad hoc networks are getting a lot of attention, because they have many features that differ from the rest of the networks and because they are technically advanced. In routing protocols, the Vehicular Ad-hoc network (VANET) differ in performance because each protocol has different variables, such as variable density, speed, and traffic scenarios. In this work, we proposed topology-based routing namely Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol. The AODV protocol has been simulated in case of the movement of vehicles at a fixed velocity at 60km/h, and in case of randomly changing the vehicle's locations in the network. There are three parameters used to investigate the performance of the proposed AODV protocol which are packet delivery ratio, and overheads. The Simulation results show a significant decrease from 0.55 to 0.82 in the packet delivery ratio. On the other hand, the performance of the AODV protocol demonstrates effective communication for the VANETs. © 2023 IEEE.

Rectenna with high rectification efficiency is demanded for wireless power transfer systems. In order to improve rectification efficiency at mm-wave band, we study on high impedance antennas. This paper reports the characteristics of a folded dipole antenna consisting of open-Terminated two strips on an Alumina substrate. We designed the antenna with over 1000Ω at 28 GHz using EM simulator. As results, we obtained input resistance of 1463.7Ω with radiation efficiency of 86.7%. © 2022 IEEE.

The back-channel-etch-type amorphous InGaZnO (a-IGZO) triple-layer thin-film transistor (TL-TFT) consists of a top barrier and a bottom barrier deposited with oxygen flow (OF) and an a-IGZO main channel deposited without OF in between. The TL-TFT has 1.7× and 1.3× electron mobilities for the bottom gate (BG) operation as compared to the single-layer and double-layer channel TFTs, respectively. The conduction band difference between the barrier layers and the main channel is high enough to confine the carriers in the main channel. The bottom barrier decreases the Coulomb scattering and the surface roughness scattering to increase the mobility, while the top barrier decreases the plasma-induced damage in the channel and the bottom barrier. However, both the hysteresis and subthreshold swing (S.S.) increase if only the bottom barrier is adopted [double-layer TFT (DL-TFT)] because the shallow states in the IGZO bottom barrier provide extra tunneling paths for the electrons to be trapped inside the BG oxide. With additional top barrier structure, plasma-induced damage in the main channel and the bottom barrier can be mitigated to reduce the degradation of hysteresis and S.S. Moreover, the TL-TFTs demonstrate better reliability under both positive bias stress and negative bias illumination stress than single-layer TFTs (SL-TFTs) and DL-TFTs. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, the effect of grouping vehicles on traffic at a signalized intersection is studied. A group of vehicles is formed by sending commands to multiple vehicles to follow the vehicle in front. The application of coordinated traffic signal control to the formed vehicle groups is expected to improve traffic efficiency. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulations by examining how to form groups of vehicles in the traffic flow simulator and how to apply traffic signal control. As a result of the simulation, it is confirmed that the application of vehicle grouping reduces the waiting time at intersections by 89% and improves the average fuel economy by 8.9%. © 2022 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

Despite the potential benefits that the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) can bring to the system, it may cause problems related to power quality constraints, such $as$ reverse power flow in substation and overvoltages. An effective approach to address these problems involves the adoption of reactive and active power control in grid-tie inverters associated with DER. Therefore, this paper assesses the impacts of grid-tie inverter control modes, including both Volt-Var and Volt-Watt strategies, on the DER hosting capacity. In order to improve the overall system operation, modifications in the Volt-Var and Volt-Watt curves were proposed. It is noteworthy that these control strategies can have adverse effects on certain distribution system performance indicators, such $as$ voltage deviation and power losses;for this reason, these indicators are also evaluated in this study. A stochastic approach was adopted to deal with the uncertainties associated with DERs and loads. Finally, from tests conducted in the IEEE 33-bus test system, it was concluded that the proper adjustment of the Volt-Var and Volt-Watt control curves significantly influences DER hosting capacity, $as$ well $as$ voltage deviation and power losses. © 2023 IEEE.

Software-based self-testing is a promising solution to post-deployment testing for processor cores embedded in long-life mission-critical systems. One popular approach to self-test program generation is to convert each scan-based test pattern to an instruction sequence that, when executed, implicitly applies the test pattern. However, this approach suffers low conversion quality for branch instructions. In this paper, we develop a branch-aware test program generator to improve the conversion efficiency for branch instructions. The test program generator considers the actual and predicted branch conditions to derive the instruction addresses that guarantee the desired program execution order. Furthermore, we optimize the test program template and recycle the wasted program blocks to reduce the test program footprint. The proposed test program generator is applied to a five-stage RISC-V processor with branch prediction. The generated test program achieves 90.68% transition delay fault coverage and reduces the test program size by 76%.

Lifetime studies of organic light emitting diodes are necessary to both understand and mitigate causes of degradation. Here, electroluminescence (EL) studies of green organic light-emitting diode (OLED) pixels are measured continuously using three different dc currents over a period of one week, and their slow EL degradation is accurately fit to an analytical expression with only two fit parameters. The slower-than-exponential EL decay is fit to an empirical unified heavy-tail function that can interpolate between power-law algebraic decays (AD) and stretched-exponential decays (SE). Whereas SE and AD are largely indistinguishable down to 50% of the initial luminance, here we report degradation down to 10% of the initial luminance which most closely fits an AD function with remarkable precision over the entire duration of the experiment. All relaxations share the same characteristic exponent β = 0.53 in the power law decay, whereas the characteristic time-scale τ for degradation decreases with a power-law exponent B = 1.9 as the current increases. The high degree of accuracy in the fit allows asymptotic predictions at time scales that are orders of magnitude longer than the duration of the data collection. The voltage across the OLED is simultaneously monitored under constant-current degradation and reveals an early-onset time scale where the voltage reaches a minimum before degradation runoff. © 2025 SPIE.

Rehabilitation of amputees is still mostly limited to passive technology that cannot provide energy to the gait and contribute to a better experience and comfort of walking. To address this shortcoming, active prostheses have been introduced with actuators capable of generating and dissipating energy in a controlled way. However, proposed designs of powered leg prosthesis still present heavy and bulky structure or low backdrivable actuators, which reduce the volitional control and comfort of the user. This work presents the development and control of a lightweight and highly backdrivable powered knee prosthesis. The designed actuator is composed by a coaxial motor-reducer with a 200 W brushless DC motor in series with a harmonic drive with a 51:1 ratio. After assembled the leg prosthesis weights just 3.64 kg. Bench tests were performed to validate the model and tune a position-based controller. Then, a custom force sensor was implemented to measure ground reaction force and identify gait phases so an impedance controller can regulate joint torque. The powered prosthesis was experimented in three able-bodied subjects walking on a treadmill using both the position and impedance controller. The prosthesis presented high backdrivability in bench tests and the treadmill results shown that the proposed impedance controller was more effective to follow the healthy knee trajectory compared to the position controller. In future works we plan to evaluate the prosthesis in amputee subjects. © 2023 IEEE.

The world has been experiencing a fast change in the production and use of electrical energy. The electric power system is fast changing from the conventional centralized generation to a more distributed generation (DG) with renewable energy sources installed near the consumers. The evolution of DG paves the way for the concept of grid-forming converters improving voltage and frequency stability in microgrids (MGs) and islanded applications, due to the growth of inverter-based resources. In islanded MG, power quality is a concern due to the presence of disturbing loads and possible resonance issues encountered with multiple electronically interfaced distributed energy resources (DERs) and loads. The present work proposes the Three-Level Zero Harmonic Distortion Converter (ZHD) grid-forming converter due to its inherently sinusoidal voltage source characteristic without the need of capacitive filtering elements that negatively impact in costs, efficiency, size and can be a source of resonances issues. These features are achieved by the proper combination of harmonic cancellation in a three-winding transformer and harmonic elimination using the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHE PWM). Simulation results show the Three-Level ZHD converter setting voltage and frequency to an Medium Voltage (MV) islanded microgrid, delivering sinusoidal voltage waveforms even in the presence of nonlinear loads. The converter is able to maintain the voltage distortion below the IEEE 519 limits by respecting the current harmonic limits imposed by the same standard. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper introduces a new data-driven MPC structure based on two offline and online parts to achieve the robust and constrained performance in an optimal scheme. In the first step, according to the model matching condition, an offline data-driven controller is designed to reach the tracking performance. In addition, to reduce the effects of the external disturbance, a data-driven-based disturbance observer is presented to estimate the external disturbance. Therefore, the robustness against the external disturbances is achieved in an offline procedure. Then, a data-driven model predictive control (MPC) is structured based on a data-driven-based model of a stabilized system. In other words, the overall controller is configured such that the limitations of the system states and control input are considered in the control design process. Moreover, by employing the move blocking strategy, the online computational burden of the suggested controller is greatly reduced. To further improve of the feasibility problem, an ellipsoidal terminal (ET) constraint is considered. The rows number of the blocking matrix influences on the ET set which leads to feasibility enhancement. So, the main contributions of the presented data-driven controller are feasibility improvement and reducing online computational burden in an optimal and constrained scheme which are illustrated in the simulation section. © 2013 IEEE.
