This paper presents a new fast method to generate an accurate surrogate model for 3D-structured magnetic components using transfer learning (TL). By using the proposed TL method, the small amount of the training datasets obtained from the 3D finite element analysis is required for the accurate surrogate model. In this study, the surrogate models are constructed by the proposed and conventional models, and then the accuracy and number of the training datasets of the surrogate models are compared between two models to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper presents a new optimization approach for coil design problems. To obtain a connected path, the coil design task is formulated as an optimum routing problem. In order to solve the routing problem, the physarum polycephalum algorithm is employed and it is combined with evolutionary computations. It is shown that the proposed method can find a coil design for the generation of target uniform magnetic distribution.

High-resolution non-homogeneous dehazing aims to generate a clear image from a 4000 × 6000 image with non-homogeneous haze. To the best of our knowledge, this task is a new challenge that was not addressed in the previous literature. To address this issue, we propose semantic-guided loss functions for high-resolution non-homogeneous dehazing. We find semantic information contains strong texture and color prior. Thus, we proposed to adopt the pre-trained model to generate the semantic mask to guide the neural network during the training phase. On the other hand, to handle the non-homogeneous dehazing process in the high-resolution scenario, we adjust the kernel size of the model to increase the receptive field. Furthermore, to deal with the different image sizes during the training and the testing phase, several post-processing methods are applied to improve the high-resolution non-homogeneous dehazing. Several experiments performed on challenging benchmark show that the proposed model achieves competitive performance in the NTIRE 2023 HR NonHomogeneous Dehazing Challenge.

The inherent disadvantages of terrestrial environments make it difficult to meet the requirements of emerging technologies. The increasing demand for ubiquitous connectivity, which is essential for sixth generation (6G) wireless communications, requires the investigation of non-terrestrial networks (NTN) to overcome the limitations of terrestrial environments. Among NTN, high altitude platform stations (HAPS) stand out as a pivotal enabler, offering significant advantages in terms of platform size, load capacity, line-of-sight (LOS) availability, sustainability and power and energy efficiency. Envisioning the International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) for 2030 and beyond (IMT-2030), this study focuses on the integration of HAPS into vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, particularly in the context of autonomous vehicle networks, to facilitate hyper reliable and low-latency communication (HRLLC). The role of HAPS in enhancing data processing and communication efficiency for V2X is critically analyzed, highlighting their contribution to vehicle positioning, environmental sensing, and decision-making processes-core components for the safe realization of V2X. Specifically, a prospective scenario for achieving HRLLC by integrating HAPS into V2X is presented, and the contributions of HAPS on managing the extensive data traffic and real-time processing challenges in V2X is discussed by proposing an artificial intelligence based solution. The discussion is extended to the challenges of handling the vast volumes of data generated, emphasizing the need for efficient data traffic classification and traffic management strategies. In conclusion, the paper highlights the remarkable potential of HAPS-enabled V2X architecture in 6G networks, articulating its significant impact on improving road safety, transportation systems, and communication efficiency. It seems that a more interconnected and intelligent future for V2X technology providing HRLLC is on the horizon.

This paper gives a method for converting finite-length transient response signals with non-zero steady-state values into the frequency domain. In the method, the signal is discrete Fourier transformed after adding a linear function without DC component. The linear function is equivalent to the AC components of a step function whose amplitude is the steady-state value of the signal in the frequency domain. The usefulness of the proposed method is confirmed by a numerical experiment and an experiment to estimate the frequency characteristics of the transient response signals obtained from an actual position control system for a mass-spring-damper system. © 2023 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

This paper proposes a PID tuning method based on model matching in the frequency domain. Using the proposed method, PID tuning can be performed considering the trade-off between control bandwidth and stability margin, even if the plant model is unknown, as long as the frequency characteristics of the plant are known. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown through a numerical experiment where the plant model is given and an experiment of a position control of an actual mass-spring system whose transfer function model is unknown. © 2023 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

This paper is on the issues of designing fuzzy controllers for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems. Many works on the stability and stabilization problems on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems have been done. In the literature, stabilization conditions for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy system have been improved and their feasibility range has been extended. However, there remains room for reducing the conservativeness for such stabilization conditions. In this paper, we propose a new fuzzy controller design via higher order derivatives of a Lyapunov function with an integral of the membership functions, which drastically reduces the existing conservative stabilization conditions. Finally, a comparison with previous studies is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed control method.

This study aims to increase the number of access users by limiting the sample size to 30 users while ensuring that every Optical Network Unit (ONU) receives data from the Optical Line Terminal (OLT). The proposed solution allows for the determination of power requirements at each ONU based on bus-star topologies, facilitating an increase in user capacity. The power received by each ONU is a critical parameter that system designers must consider when planning the implementation of Fiber to the Home (FTTH), as it impacts the output data in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal Quality Factor (QF) for each user. Various parameters were evaluated to ensure that the enhanced network improves scalability while adhering to standard specifications. These parameters included the Q-factor, BER, eye diagram, user count, and received power. The study employed slicing and duplication techniques, utilizing Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) for signal duplication and Wavelength Division Multiplexing for signal slicing. The simulations were conducted using a transmitter operating at a frequency of 1491 nm with a power output of 0 dBm, utilizing the latest version of OptiSystem 20 software. The results highlighted the system's capability to support a total of 73,728 users, meeting stringent performance criteria. Specifically, the system achieved a Q-factor greater than 6, indicating high signal quality, and a bit error rate (BER) lower than 1 × 10-9, ensuring reliable data transmission. For the sampled 30 users, the average Q factor was 8.1527, and the average BER was 5.3648 × 10^-11, with an output power level of -54.278 dBm. Despite an increase in users, the quality of the data supplied to clients remained unchanged. These outcomes underscore the robustness and efficiency of the design in delivering high-capacity, error-resilient optical communication. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In this work, a sliding detection algorithm was proposed for a previously developed robotic hand through the utilization of force sensors. Previous works have designed several hardware architectures to filter sensor data, implement dynamic control, and machine learning models for controlling the robotic fingers using a single Field programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) chip. In this regard, the slip detection algorithm was developed to comprise three stages, each with a low computational cost, including a moving average filter, a first-order derivative, and a peak detection algorithm. A reference model was constructed and validated through an experimental protocol employing daily use objects to create a database. Subsequently, the slip detection algorithm was mapped onto hardware utilizing previously developed floating-point arithmetic IP cores and implemented using a Zynq 7020 device. The FPGA implementation was characterized in terms of resource occupation, power consumption, execution time, and numerical error with the reference model.
