Indonesia has enormous geothermal potential, but it only contributes 5% to Indonesia's energy matrix. During 37 years of operation, PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy Kamojang area has been operating to produce electricity and is currently capable of supplying and distributing electricity to the Java-Bali area with a capacity of 60 MWe. However, this can run into a decrease in the efficiency and effectiveness of system performance due to energy losses in several geothermal power plant components during energy conversion. In this case, exergy analysis at PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy Kamojang area Unit 4 direct-dry steam cycle was done on each component and state. This aims to know the energy and exergy stream and where it happened irreversibly at the component. The biggest irreversibility value occurred at the turbine and main condenser, with a value of 21,693.890 kW and 21,688.148 kW. The total irreversibility of all systems is 58,326.201 kW, while the total exergy inlet systems is 119,308.457 kW, so the value efficiency exergy obtained is 51.13%. Based on the environment as dead state analysis, an efficiency exergy value is inversely proportional to the irreversibility value and ascending environment temperature. System optimization was done with the genetic algorithm method, with variable values at the pressure wellhead and inlet turbine for the overall exergy efficiency value. The value obtained from optimization is 11.98 bar at the wellhead and 10.023 bar at the inlet turbine, and the overall efficiency exergy increased by 51.22%. © 2023 The Author(s)

This paper proposes a novel transformerless, single-phase, three-level, buck-boost inverter. The proposed inverter can suppress the leakage current drawn from the input power source and provide a long-lasting solution for applications with a wide range and unregulated input voltage. Unlike similar topologies, in the proposed inverter there is no need to have a mid-point of DC sources or DC bus capacitors at the input side of the inverter. A single-phase, three-level, buck-boost inverter for realizing the power stage with 110-Vrms output AC voltage and a range of 100V-200V input DC voltage is investigated in this study. The proposed topology has been proven through theory, computer simulations, and experimental studies with SiC MOSFETs-based prototype of a 300-VA power supply. Theory, computer simulation, and experimental results are all correlated.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) arise as a crucial technology to transition from conventional/centralized to decentralized/electronized power systems. A multi-step BESS sizing procedure for independent multi-ancillary services is a highly demanded tool that supports prosumers’ and utilities’ decision-making to pursue attractive investments that meet the intended technical requirements. Thus, this paper proposes a novel multi-step methodology for BESS sizing, evaluating economic viability, utilizing real-world mission profiles, and estimating Li-ion battery bank degradation, based on three ancillary services: self-consumption (SC), energy time-shift (ETS), and islanded (IS) operation. The methodology is applied to four case studies in the SC and ETS modes, evaluating the effects of (i) photovoltaic (PV) power plant size, (ii) fixed PV capacity, (iii) battery size trade-offs, and (iv) grid power charging. Results showed that the sized BESS performing ETS, charged by a 250 kW PV system, with a capital expenditure of $218,806, achieved a net present value of $417,739, an internal rate of return of 18.55%, and a discounted payback period of 9 years. The system maintains an average state of charge of 75%, with 6.4% of the time unable to provide ETS due to battery constraints. In islanded operation, the same system provided 10 h of autonomy during grid outages, which is sufficient to support the facility. It is also shown that sensitivity analysis in promising scenarios, such as energy tariff increases and BESS cost reductions, further enhances the technical and economic feasibility of the system. © 2025

Channel-hopping (CH) protocols are essential in modern cognitive radio (CR) technology, as they facilitate rendezvous between secondary users (SUs) and improve spectrum efficiency by enabling dynamic access to limited spectral resources. Traditional CH protocols rely on a global-labeling framework, assuming that all SUs share the same mapping scheme from logical channels in their CH sequences to physical frequencies in their CR transceivers. However, when SUs operate in different regions or encounter varying frequency availability, this framework can lead to mismatches in channel-to-frequency mappings, hindering effective channel rendezvous. This paper proposes two construction algorithms for asynchronous universal-labeling (UL) CH sequences that adapt flexibly to both global and autonomous labeling scenarios. Simulation and numerical analyses demonstrate that the proposed UL CH sequences achieve an optimal balance of maximum rendezvous diversity, even channel utilization, and minimal maximum time-to-rendezvous, thereby enhancing spectrum flexibility and efficiency in CR wireless networks.

Much research has already been done to detect diseases on plant leaves using different architectures of the Tensorflow Keras Application. Despite this, no existing or ongoing research on the disease on Lanzone's leaf has been conducted. Lanzones also provide essential health benefits to people and the market demands. This study helps researchers choose the Keras Application's exemplary architecture for detecting the disease on Lanzones Leaf. Hence this study compares four (4) architectures of Keras Application that provide impressive results in other plant disease classification such as VGG16, VGG19, ResNet101, and ResNet152V2 to determine the best model for detecting the Lanzones Leaf disease. In this study, the models saw the healthy leaf and diseases such as Algal Leaf Spot and Leaf Blight Spot of Lanzones Tree. The methods used pre-processing and augmentation on the collected dataset, as well as training the models for more epochs, to improve the models' performance and learning process. The analysis and evaluation results show that VGG16 is the best model among those models utilized in detecting diseases of lanzones leaves;hence, the VGG16 achieved 89.09% of overall accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

Low-Cost CSRR-based Microwave Sensor for Evaluating Water Quality to Prevent Unwanted Sugar Contamination

This study proposes a low-cost microwave sensor for the monitoring of water quality contamination in irrigation systems. The sensor was employed for monitoring the concentration of specific compounds in mixtures of glucose and water, in order to prevent the accumulation of unwanted sugars in large plantations. The proposed sensor is an adaptation of a complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) fabricated on an FR4 substrate. A capillary tube constructed from polypropylene is inserted into the region of the CSRR microwave sensor exhibiting the maximum density surface current, wherein the liquid under test (LUT) is contained. The sensor was designed to operate at a resonance frequency of 2.45 GHz in the absence of a load. The maximum displacement observed at the resonance frequency is 275 MHz, with a normalization sensitivity of 0.844%. The simulations and experimental measurements are verified and their results compared, yielding a high level of concordance for the sensor’s intended purpose. The discrepancy between the measured permittivity values and the reference values of the samples under analysis is less than 5%. The proposed sensor is an effective solution for characterizing liquids, particularly mixtures of water and glucose, when compared to other sensors available for this application. © 2025 SBMO/SBMag.

Nowadays, many artificial intelligence systems are developed to detect and classify plant leaf diseases via image classification, and those researches achieved high-performance results. However, those Artificial Intelligence Systems categorize various leaf diseases, but none precisely for Lanzones. Briefly, no existing or current research has been studied to detect and classify leaf diseases of Lanzones tree in the early stages using an Artificial Intelligence System. This paper presents a device for categorizing the healthy and with diseases (Algal Leaf Spot and Leaf Blight Spot) on the leaves of the Lanzones tree thru image classification using deep learning. It is limited to the device's development and implementation in the target locale. The methods applied include data pre-processing and augmentation techniques to the created CNN model. This will be integrated into a system using the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and the Tensorflow Lite Interpreter. The performance analysis and evaluation of the system were based on the confusion matrix, which shows how the system successfully classified the healthy and disease of Lanzones leaves with an accuracy rate of 80%. © 2022 IEEE.

Data fusion of multitype data is a fundamental problem in power system monitoring. This paper proposes a method for graph spectral clustering and visualization based on the fusion of similarity networks. The adopted approach enables the integration or fusion of multiple types of measurements, leading to the identification of a reduced-order model (a coarse-grained representation) and the variables that are influential in system dynamics.A systematic dynamic framework for data fusion is developed based on diffusion geometry and the fusion of similarity networks. This approach utilizes the statistical characteristics of Markov processes to construct a similarity network or graph for each data type or information. This allows for capturing the global data structure by establishing a Markov chain that describes transition probabilities between different sensor time series. Integrating this approach with the concept of graph community aids in identifying important buses and transmission branches for *** considerations concerning the application of spectral analysis techniques and improvements upon previous work are deliberated. Additionally, promising methodologies for investigating the multimodal attributes of data are highlighted to address these challenges robustly. Simulation studies conducted on a 14-machine, 58-bus test system serve to illustrate the efficacy of diffusion-based similarity network fusion techniques. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A triaxial nanofiber membrane was developed using a custom triaxial nozzle during electrospinning. The membrane consisted of three layers (outer middle (PVA-Collagen Type I-BMP-2), and inner (PVA-nHAP)). TEM revealed the diameters of the outer, middle, and inner layers as 167.5, 142.6, and 119.3 nm, respectively. The triaxial nanofiber membrane exhibited superior tensile strength (36 MPa) and elastic modulus (2.5 GPa), along with a roughness of 359 nm and hydrophilic properties. In addition, it demonstrated a 200% swelling ratio and reduced bacterial colonization by 10.8-fold. In photobiomodulation (PBM), biological tissues are stimulated using low-energy light. Mitochondria are thought to be integral to the process, and PBM effects vary with light parameters. Biphasic curves are commonly used to describe the dose response of PBM but do not fit in some cases. Dose-dependent PBM effects, especially mitochondrial responses, must be understood to optimize clinical therapies. However, most previous studies have reported short-term mitochondrial activity changes, neglecting long-term effects or dose-dependent changes in whole transcriptomes. We studied the effects of 3-day PBM with an 810 nm circular LED beam on human neuroblastoma IMR-32 cells. Two light doses with opposite effects on mitochondrial DNA copy number were chosen to analyze total RNA, protein content and function of mitochondrial respiratory complexes, and mitochondrial morphology. Daily 15-minute 810 nm light treatment enhanced drug resistance to the mitochondrial inhibitors and uncoupling agent via two distinct mechanisms: 1.40 mW/cm2 light increased cell proliferation and the proportion of cells in the cell cycle S phase;1.95 mW/cm2 light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation at the RNA, protein, and functional levels and the proportion of network-like mitochondria. Our findings reveal the complexity of PBM dose responses and provide insights into light-cell interactions. © 1995-2012 IEEE.
