A Compact Frog-Shaped Self-Diplexed MIMO Antenna with SD-HMSIW Technique for WLAN Applications

This article presents a compact, low-profile, dual-band shielded half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SD-HMSIW) based self-diplexed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna (SDMA) designed for wireless local area networks (WLAN) applications. The MIMO configuration comprises two orthogonally positioned, identical self-diplexing antenna (SDA) elements, forming a slot configuration resembling the anatomy of a frog. Each SDA element features two uniquely shaped modified slots on the top conducting surface of the SD-HMSIW cavity. These SDAs are driven by separate 50 Ω microstrip feed lines, facilitating radiation at 5.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz with good isolation between the ports. The proposed SDA design method offers exceptional versatility, enabling independent operation at two distinct frequency bands. The overall MIMO configuration of the SDA element enables a compact antenna size of 0.40λg2, with isolation greater than 21 dB between ports and gains of 5.26 and 4.94 dBi at ports resonating at two identical frequencies. The outcomes of MIMO antenna features involving envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), effective diversity gain (EDG), and multiplexing efficiency (MUX) have been evaluated and found to be satisfactory for the proposed SD-HMSIW- based SDMA. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Researchers have recently created several deep learning strategies for various tasks, and facial recognition has made remarkable progress in employing these techniques. Face recognition is a noncontact, nonobligatory, acceptable, and harmonious biometric recognition method with a promising national and social security future. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing face recognition algorithm, investigate extensive data-driven face recognition methods, and propose a unique automated face recognition methodology based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) and the center symmetric multivariable local binary pattern (CS-MLBP). To begin, this paper employs the center symmetric multivariant local binary pattern (CS-MLBP) algorithm to extract the texture features of the face, addressing the issue that C2DPCA (column-based two-dimensional principle component analysis) does an excellent job of removing the global characteristics of the face but struggles to process the local features of the face under large samples. The extracted texture features are combined with the international features retrieved using C2DPCA to generate a multifeatured face. The proposed method, GAN-CS-MLBP, syndicates the power of GAN with the robustness of CS-MLBP, resulting in an accurate and efficient face recognition system. Deep learning algorithms, mainly neural networks, automatically extract discriminative properties from facial images. The learned features capture low-level information and high-level meanings, permitting the model to distinguish among dissimilar persons more successfully. To assess the proposed technique’s GAN-CS-MLBP performance, extensive experiments are performed on benchmark face recognition datasets such as LFW, YTF, and CASIA-WebFace. Giving to the findings, our method exceeds state-of-the-art facial recognition systems in terms of recognition accuracy and resilience. Currently, the 4G network service has caused massive digital growth in high use. Video calling has become the go-to Internet application for many people, downloading even huge files in minutes. Everyone is looking for and buying only 4G Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)-capable mobiles. In this case, the expectation of 5G has increased in line with 2G, 3G, and 4G, where the G stands for generation, and it does not indicate Internet or Internet speed. 5G includes next-generation features that are more advanced than those available in 4G network services. The main objective of 5G is uninterrupted telecommunication service in hybrid energy storage system. This paper proposes an intelligent networking model to obtain the maximum energy efficiency and Artificial Intelligence (AI) automation of 5G networks. There is currently an issue where the signal cuts out when crossing an area with one tower and traveling to an area with another tower. The problem of “call drop”, where the call is disconnected while talking, is not present in 5G. The proposed Intelligent Computational Model (ICM) model obtained 96.31% network speed management, 90.63% battery capacity management, 92.27% network device management, 93.57% energy efficiency, and 88.41% AI automation.

Advancements in underwater imaging through machine learning: Techniques, challenges, and applications

Underwater imaging plays a critical role in various fields such as marine biology, environmental monitoring, underwater archaeology, and defense. However, it faces unique challenges including light absorption and scattering, limited visibility, color distortion, and dynamic underwater conditions. Recent advancements in machine learning have provided powerful tools to address these challenges, significantly improving the quality and analysis of underwater images. This review comprehensively explores the intersection of underwater imaging and machine learning, covering supervised learning, unsupervised learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning techniques. I discuss key applications such as marine species identification, coral reef monitoring, autonomous underwater navigation, archaeological site exploration, and environmental monitoring. Additionally, I examine publicly available datasets, benchmarking methods, and evaluation metrics essential for developing and accessing machine learning models in this domain. Through detailed case studies and practical implementations, I highlight the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches. Emerging trends such as the integration of AI with robotics, advancements in imaging hardware, and the development of specialized algorithms are also discussed. Future directions include enhanced image processing techniques, interdisciplinary collaborations, and real-time processing capabilities. Detection and classification of photovoltaic module defects based on artificial intelligence

Photovoltaic (PV) system performance and reliability can be improved through the detection of defects in PV modules and the evaluation of their effects on system operation. In this paper, a novel system is proposed to detect and classify defects based on electroluminescence (EL) images. This system is called Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) and splits into four modules, which are (1) Image Preprocessing Module (IPM), (2) Feature Extraction Module (FEM), (3) Feature Selection Module (FSM), and (4) Classification Module (CM). In the first module (i.e., IPM), the EL images are preprocessed to enhance the quality of the images. Next, the two types of features in these images are extracted and fused together through FEM. Then, during FSM, the most important and informative features are extracted from these features using a new feature selection methodology, namely, Feature Selection-based Chaotic Map (FS-CM). FS-CM consists of two stages: filter stage using chi-square to initially select the most effective features and a modified selection stage using an enhanced version of Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA). In fact, BOA is a popular swarm-based metaheuristic optimization algorithm that has only recently found success. While BOA has many benefits, it also has some drawbacks, including a smaller population and an increased likelihood of getting stuck in a local optimum. In this paper, a new methodology is proposed to improve the performance of BOA, called chaotic-based butterfly optimization algorithm. Finally, these selected features are used to feed the proposed classification model through CM. During CM, Hybrid Classification Model (HCM) is proposed. HCM consists of two stages, which are binary classification stage using Naïve Bayes (NB) and multi-class classification stage using enhanced multi-layer perceptron. Classification of suspected objects and severity assessment of COVID-19 from chest X-ray images using deep transfer learning

Purpose: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has infected about 418 million people across the globe. So, the analysis of biomedical imaging accompanied with artificial intelligence (AI) approaches has transpired a vital role in diagnosing COVID-19. Until now, numerous classification approaches have been demonstrated for the detection of COVID-19. The assessment of COVID-19 patients according to severity level is not so far investigated. For this motivation, the classification of COVID-19 chest X-ray (CXR) images according to severity of the infection is presented in this work. Methods: Primarily, the 1527 CXR images are pre-processed to reshape images into unique size, denoised, and enhanced images through median filter and histogram equalization (HE) techniques, respectively. Afterward, reshaped, denoised, and enhanced CXR images are augmented using synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) to achieve the balanced dataset of 1752 CXR images. After augmentation, a pre-trained VGG16 and residual network 50 (Resnet50) deep transfer learning models with random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) classifiers are utilized for feature extraction and classification of 1752 CXR images into diverse class labels such as normal, severe COVID-19, and non-severe COVID-19. Results: Our proposed ResNet50 model with SVM classifier provides the highest accuracy of about 95% for severity assessment and classification of COVID-19 CXR images as compared to other permutations. For the ResNet50 model with SVM classifier model, the average value of precision, recall, and F1-score are 91%, 94%, and 92%, respectively. Conclusion: The multi-class classification deep transfer learning models are presented to determine the severity assessment and classification of COVID-19 by using CXR images. A verifiable multi-secret image sharing scheme based on DNA encryption

A multi-secret image sharing (MSIS) scheme facilitates the secure distribution of multiple images among a group of participants. Several MSIS schemes have been proposed with a (n, n) structure that encodes secret input images into n share images. This encoding ensures that if a subset of participants collude, no information about the secret images can be revealed. The secret images can only be recovered if all participants cooperate. Most of these schemes are built using basic Boolean operations, primarily XOR operations. MSIS schemes that rely on Boolean logic offer various benefits compared to other methods, such as the ability to recover data without any loss, no increase in pixel size, and efficient computation. This article presents a verifiable MSIS scheme that relies on a secure two-variable one-way function and a secure hash function. The scheme allows for independent verification of both the dealer and the participants to detect any cheating attempts. The proposed scheme utilizes the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) encryption technique to leverage the inherent benefits of DNA computing, such as enhanced security, fast computation, minimal storage needs, and low power usage. The share images produced by the proposed scheme exhibit an average entropy of 7.99, indicating that the generated 8-bit share images are completely random. Additionally, the correlation coefficient is approximately 0.005, suggesting that neighboring pixels in the images are not related to each other. Emerging technologies of Agriculture 4.0 such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and 5G network services are being rapidly deployed to address smart farming implementation-related concerns and to fulfill the increasing food demand of the expanding demographics. Adoption of 5G offers numerous benefits including Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) required to reduce communication delays in time-sensitive applications, non-public networks to allocate part of the frequency spectrum on demand, and network slicing to fulfill the diverse requirements requested by a specific application etc. for realizing the full potential of Agriculture 4.0 operations. In this paper, a comprehensive review of 5G radio enhancements, enabling technologies, and multi-tier heterogeneous 5G network architecture are presented. The main focus is to concisely cover AI integration with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) leveraging 5G technologies and Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) for supporting intelligent, long-range, cost-effective and energy-saving data transmission across the network and seamless Agriculture 4.0 operations. Cloud computing architectures that permit centralized management of Agriculture 4.0 operations through sharing of computations, configurable networks, and servers are also studied in detail to reveal the need for edge computation as increasing number of IoT devices allows only to perform complex computations on-site. Extensive survey reveals the recent advances of 5G-enabled Agriculture 4.0 operations, future research opportunities of 5G networks including Energy Harvesting techniques for the deployment of massive to critical IoT applications, and the socio-demographic impacts of 5G networks in Agriculture 4.0 to support ubiquitous connectivity of exponentially increasing IoT devices. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
