A Linear Matrix Inequality-based Relaxed Time-delay Platooning Controller Design for Multiple Autonomous Vehicles

This study presents a method for designing a platooning controller for multiple autonomous vehicles, including time delay. The platooning control system under consideration is represented as a linear state space equation with a time-delayed state variable. Subsequently, we derived stabilization conditions for the platooning control system to ensure string stability, in terms of linear matrix inequalities. When deriving stabilization conditions, we used two types of integral inequalities and compared their application. Finally, we verified and compared the performance of the designed platooning controller using simulation examples. © ICROS 2023.

New comparative approach to multi-level thresholding: chaotically initialized adaptive meta-heuristic optimization methods

One method aimed at enhancing the performance of meta-heuristic optimization techniques is the incorporation of chaotic systems. Instead of irregular distributions in the search space, chaotic distributions are employed in the initial population of optimization algorithms to improve the efficiency of the search process. This approach enables search agents distributed in a chaotic manner to effectively explore the search space. The initial populations of both the well-established PSO algorithm and the enhanced WSO algorithm, which incorporates advanced search techniques, are distributed in the search space according to the characteristics of Logistic, Chebyshev, Circle, Sine, and Piecewise chaotic maps in this study. The original PSO and WSO algorithms, as well as the resulting chaotically initialized PSO and chaotically initialized WSO algorithms, were tested using 23 benchmark functions. Subsequently, the Otsu method was integrated into the tested optimization algorithms to obtain multi-level thresholding values. These algorithms were applied to five different test images with a manually determined number of thresholds. The results obtained were presented in the study and evaluated using statistical tests. © The Author(s) 2025.

In recent years, emerging nations have shifted their focus to renewable energy sources for electricity production. This shift has happened in both industrialised and underdeveloped countries. The percentage of electricity produced overall in most developed countries that originates from renewable sources of energy is rising significantly. Currently, the grid is going through a number of modifications to improve its intelligence and stability. These adjustments are becoming more pronounced. Although there are many various types of storage systems available, the CAES system is the most appropriate for large-capacity storage that is ideal for grid integration. However, the overall roundtrip efficiency is less than that of a pumped hydro storage system when it comes to large-scale renewable energy storage. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

A 36-Gb/s 2× half-baud-rate (THBR) adaptive receiver (RX) is presented. The pattern-based adaptation method for adjusting the frequency response of a continuous-time linear equalizer (CTLE) is proposed. In addition, the reference voltage of the comparators is adapted to enhance the timing margin of the recovered clock in the RX. This THBR adaptive RX is fabricated in TSMC 28-nm CMOS technology with a core area of 0.097 mm2. The measured bit error rate (BER) is less than 10-12 for a 36-Gb/s pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) of 27 - 1, when the channel loss is 19 dB at 18 GHz. The total power consumption of this RX is 76 mW with gated adaptation circuits. The calculated figure of merit (FoM) is 2.1 pJ/bit. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

The efficiency and output voltage of Multi-Level Inverters (MLI) are crucial factors in determining their performance, with low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) being highly desirable. Achieving low THD is primarily accomplished through the use of various modulation techniques. One such technique is Hybrid Trapezoidal Triangular carrier-based Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (HTTSPWM), which has gained attention for effectively reducing THD in MLI output. This study investigates the reduction of THD in MLIs using the HTTSPWM technique and identifies an optimal condition that results in the lowest possible THD. Furthermore, a Modified HTTSPWM technique is proposed, demonstrating a significant reduction in THD compared to the traditional HTTSPWM method. Simulations are conducted using MATLAB/Simulink software, and the results confirm that the modified HTTSPWM technique outperforms the original HTTSPWM in terms of THD reduction. © 2025 IEEE.

This study analyzes the performance of Germanium (Ge) and Indium Phosphide (InP) MOSFETs with various gate oxide materials: SiO2, Al2O3, and Ga2O3 for high drain current applications. The paper develops a numerical model in COMSOL Multiphysics to simulate MOSFET behavior with these oxides, analyzing their impact on device performance. Results demonstrate that Ga2O3 offers the highest drain current and lowest threshold voltage among the oxides tested, significantly outperforming SiO2 and Al2O3. Specifically, Ge MOSFET with Ga2O3 exhibits drain currents up to 7397 μA, while InP MOSFETs with Al2O3 reach up to 6245 μA. The study compares these findings with existing research, highlighting the advantages of Ga2O3 and Al2O3 in optimizing high-current MOSFETs. The findings of this study suggest that Ga2O3 in Ge MOSFET is a promising candidate for enhancing the performance of high-current applications, particularly when compared to traditional gate oxide materials. © 2025 IEEE.

Integrated grocery management system with smart cabinet and refrigerator based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The majority of people frequently forget about the food that has been kept in their refrigerators and cabinets. Food waste is increased when food is thrown out after a particular period of time. Our suggested solution addresses these challenges. Using an internet connection, the device enables users to view the contents of the cabinet and refrigerator. You can drastically reduce food wastage by keeping an eye on what's left in the pantry and refrigerator. Furthermore, technology provides the user with the recipe for a meal plan that accounts for the vegetables in the cupboard and refrigerator as well as alerts them when the food items are running low. Traditional sensors like weight and gas sensors have been replaced by cameras in smart refrigerator. As a result, the system can produce outputs that are more accurate and information-rich while avoiding the costly wiring that was necessary for earlier systems. For many businesses, it is difficult to track product sales at individual storefronts. They will therefore have to hire workers in order to collect this data. They could quickly learn product information with the help of the offered solution, which would enable them to plan their sales efforts effectively. © 2024 IEEE.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' 2021 data, India has reported a total of 4,12,432 road accidents, resulting in 1,53,972 deaths and 3,84,448 injuries. Non-wearing of helmets has affected 1,40,356 persons, with 46,593 deaths and 93,763 injuries. Over-speeding has affected 2,95,522 persons, with 1,07,236 deaths and 2,80,285 injuries. Drunken driving or consumption of alcohol and drugs has affected 10,823 persons, with 3,314 deaths and 7,509 injuries. From this it is evident that a Smart system must be developed to reduce the accident count. The system proposed will able to control the engine based on alcohol consumption status and rider worn the helmet or not. It will monitor the speed continuously and alert the rider regarding over speeding by activating the buzzer. When over speeding count exceeds 5 times in a span of 30 days, SMS is sent to the traffic department using GSM module. Additionally Anti-theft system is also present, which activates the theft buzzer indicating the theft activity. To increase the battery backup, the frequency of the Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller was reduced to 25MHz from the default frequency of 125MHz. Thus, the overall system was made power efficient and convenient to riders. © 2024 IEEE.
