In the modern era of Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 there is a growing need for intelligent microcontrollers that can collect, sense and analyse data effectively and efficiently. Such devices can be installed in large scale IoT deployments ranging from smart homes to smart cities and smart buildings. The aim of these devices shall be not only data monitoring but at the same time energy saving and overall building management. In the context of this paper, an all-in-one microprocessor is presented, namely ZAC888DP, which can sense data from multivariate sources and perform data analytics on top of the collected data. Moreover, machine learning (ML) models are deployed in the embedded memory of the device and specifically TinyML methods using a tflite file. The aim of the developed ML model is to collect data from four heterogeneous sources (water sensor, light sensor, humidity and temperature) in order to identify and forecast possible lavatory accidents. The experimental results of this work are encouraging as the model managed to achieve 100 percentage accuracy after 256 iterations. Future directions include the integration of the device with a neural network that will be trained on top of the pre-trained model in order to increase the overall precision even further. © 2022 IEEE.

A brain computer interface (BCI) system uses a technique known calibration, that takes 20 to 30 minutes to accomplish. For the objective of creating a reliable decoder, the calibration process is challenging and expensive. In order to address the drawbacks of the current system, a spectral-spatial technique has been suggested. The motor imagery (MI) data set, comprising 15 electroencephalography (EEG) signals and fourteen test subjects, is taken into consideration. The two modules are designed to extract characteristics and process data. An artificial neural network (ANN) is used to independently train and test the suggested spectral-spatial algorithm. Based on it, a variety of machine learning techniques, including random forest (RF), neural networks (NN), and XGboost, are used to classify the data, that is then sent to the hidden layer (Lth layer). The obtained results indicates 2% of improvement in comparison with existing methodology. © 2024 IEEE.

In the current era of big data, the generation and preservation of time series data has seen widespread adoption in various sectors such as trade, healthcare, and industry. At the same time, data have become a prized asset, as we are witnessing an unprecedented explosion in the volume of data generated and collected. This includes data from various sources, such as sensors, social media, and transactions, offering a competitive edge to organizations that harness the power of data, leading them to informed decisions and rapid responses to changing conditions. However, it is essential to responsibly manage data, addressing privacy and security concerns to ensure their integrity and availability, while efficiently managing the cost of storage and operations. To address these challenges, there is a compelling de-mand for methods that compress these time series while ensuring that the compressed versions faithfully represent the original data and remain secure against tampering or unauthorized alterations. This paper introduces a novel approach to condensing time-series data into lightweight integrity commitments, leveraging polynomial vector commitments as a key component. These integrity commitments are integrated with blockchain technology, serving as a cornerstone in guaranteeing data integrity and authenticity, particularly in supply chain scenarios where trust and transparency are of the utmost importance. © 2023 IEEE.

In cognitive radio networks(CRNs),multiple secondary users may send out requests simultaneously and one secondary user may send out multiple requests at one time,i.e.,request arrivals usually show an aggregate ***,a secondary user packet waiting in the buffer may leave the system due to impatience before it is transmitted,and this impatient behavior inevitably has an impact on the system *** to investigate the influence of the aggregate behavior of requests and the likelihood of impatience on a dynamic spectrum allocation scheme in CRNs,in this paper a batch arrival queueing model with possible reneging and potential transmission interruption is *** constructing a Markov chain and presenting a transition rate matrix,the steady-state distribution of the queueing model along with a dynamic spectrum allocation scheme is derived to analyze the stochastic behavior of the ***,some important performance measures such as the loss rate,the balk rate and the average delay of secondary user packets are ***,system experiments are carried out to show the change trends of the performance measures with respect to batch arrival rates of secondary user packets for different impatience parameters,different batch sizes of secondary user packets,and different arrival rates of primary user ***,a pricing policy for secondary users is presented and the dynamic spectrum allocation scheme is socially optimized.

The goal of steganalysis is to detect whether the cover carries the secret information which is embedded by steganographic *** traditional ste-ganalysis detector is trained on the stego images created by a certain type of ste-ganographic algorithm,whose detection performance drops rapidly when it is applied to detect another type of steganographic *** phenomenon is called as steganographic algorithm mismatch in *** resolve this pro-blem,we propose a deep learning driven feature-based *** advanced steganalysis neural network is used to extract steganographic features,different pairs of training images embedded with steganographic algorithms can obtain diverse features of each *** a multi-classiﬁer implemented as lightgbm is used to predict the matching *** results on four types of JPEG steganographic algorithms prove that the proposed method can improve the detection accuracy in the scenario of steganographic algorithm mismatch.

SPE’s Drilling Systems Automation Technical Section (DSATS) sponsors the Drillbotics® autonomous drilling contest to promote advanced learning at participating universities. Two groups worked separately to drill a directional well hands-free and to connect to a well model to detect/close in a kick. This paper consolidates the efforts of both teams. Team A, the directional drilling team from the University of Mines and technology (UMaT) in Ghana, developed a virtual model that replicated full-scale directional drilling operations, facilitating the development and testing of innovative control schemes and automation strategies. Leveraging state-of-the-art drilling software, real-time data analytics, and advanced control systems, the project demonstrated the potential of automated drilling technologies across both the planning and execution phases of drilling projects. Team B, from Technical University Clausthal (TUC) in Germany, designed and built a mini-rig that included a working scaled version of a rotary steerable system (RSS) tool to steer a wellbore through a block of sandstone to reach two non-planer targets. The work incorporates machine learning techniques to evaluate downhole sensor data and improve steering signal input. The modular design of the second-generation surface actuation system offers a more compact and efficient solution than its predecessor. The control architecture and network protocols are analyzed, demonstrating network delays of under 2 msec using a refined second-generation translator setup. The achievements of both teams are important to the future of drilling automation, as their approaches could be used to verify and validate third-party app’s communications prior to field release on full-scale rigs. The article discusses the challenges of using deep learning in healthcare due to the lack of extensive medical datasets and concerns about confidentiality and privacy. The article then focuses on the analysis of skin lesion images, which are complex and difficult to classify. The article presents a unique CNN model (skin-net) using a progressively private federated learning architecture to potentially address these issues. Recent advancements in medical image analysis using convolutional neural networks and federated learning techniques have shown promising results (96.19 accuracy, 96.37 sensitivity and 96.53 specificity) in accurately classifying skin diseases while maintaining data privacy. Using these methods offers a potentially effective way to examine human skin while improving the model's generalization performance through image augmentation. © 2023 IEEE.

Universities can employ information technology as one means of achieving their goals and objectives. Universities can get advantages from information technology, such as effective resource management and information management for decision-making. However, don't forget that the campus must consider what technology is appropriate to assist them achieve their goals, particularly in the current industrial era 4.0 where technology is available with many different choices. The campus requires an enterprise architecture in order to design, manage, and coordinate information technology infrastructure, applications, and processes strategically and thoroughly. The adoption of enterprise information system architecture (EA) is also intended to improve the quality of services provided to internal and external stakeholders. In this case, Enterprise Architecture can help an organization to match its information technology resources with business processes and strategies to achieve their goals. This research was conducted using TOGAF ADM, also known as the Open Group Architecture Framework Architecture Development Method. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is an important biotechnology for treating biodegradable residues and producing bioenergy, yet its full potential remains untapped. We investigate a two-phase AD system for biorefinery applications, producing valuable bioproducts, such as volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and biogas, from grass feedstock. We introduce a demand-driven operational approach to match market conditions, while minimising water use by reusing the process effluent. The proposed biorefinery model yields ~23 kg of VFAs and 75 kWh of biogas, with a potential gross revenue of €84 per tonne of grass. However, a preliminary economic analysis indicates that this biorefinery model is currently unprofitable. A sensitivity analysis suggests that reducing operating costs through technology advancements and policy support are vital to ensure economic viability. Such biorefineries offer opportunities for the diversification of farmers' incomes and the transition away from fossil resources. Our work exemplifies the role of AD as a key biotechnology in the circular bioeconomy. © 2025 The Author(s)
