Organising unstructured data using Double Net Self-Organising Map (DNSOM) model

Surface reconstruction is the process of representing surfaces using the data obtained from scanning devices. When the data obtained is unstructured during data collection, it can cause problems in presenting the surface due to the lack of connectivity information for the data. It shows that data collection is a crucial task in surface reconstruction. Previous works have proved that Self-Organising Map (SOM) models can be used to organise unstructured data. However, the 2-D SOM model will generate a surface with holes for the closed surfaces. Besides, the 3-D SOM model will generate an incorrect surface due to the connectivity of the internal neurons. In addition, the Cube Kohonen SOM (CKSOM) model is limited to the same grid size. Hence, a SOM model known as Double Net SOM (DNSOM) is proposed via the merging of two 2-D SOMs to overcome the issues. Three data sets (cube, sphere, and talus bone) with different grid sizes are applied to test the models. When the grid size of all the models increases, the surface becomes smoother. The DNSOM contains a lower quantisation error than the 2-D SOM and the lowest topographic error among the other SOM models. It performs faster than the 3-D SOM and CKSOM. It presents the correct closed surface with a smaller number of neurons and different grid sizes. Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 with the C++ programming language is used to develop the models, while GNUPlot is used to visualise the results. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The continuous COVID-19 upsurge and emerging variants present unprecedented challenges in many health systems. Many regulatory authorities have instituted the mandatory use of face masks especially in public places where massive contact of people is frequent and inevitable, particularly inside public transport facilities, sports arenas, shopping malls and workplaces. However, compliance and adherence to proper wearing of face masks have been difficult due to various reasons including diversified mask types, different degrees of obstructions, various variations, balancing various model detection accuracy or errors and deployment requirements, angle of view, deployment of detection model on computers with limited processing power, low-resolution images, facial expression, and lack of real-world dataset. Therefore, this study aimed at providing a comprehensive review of artificial intelligence models that have been used to detect face masks. The study revealed that deep learning models such as the Inceptionv3 convolutional neural network achieved 99.9% accuracy in detecting COVID-19 face masks. We deducted that most of the datasets used to detect face masks are created artificially, do not represent the real-world environments which ultimately affect the precision accuracy of the model when deployed in the real world. Hence there is a need for sharing real-world COVID-19 face mask images for modelling deep learning techniques. The study also revealed that deeper and wider deep learning architectures with increased training parameters, such as inception-v4, Mask R-CNN, Faster R-CNN, YOLOv3, Xception, and DenseNet are not yet implemented to detect face masks. © 2021

Outdoor data communication using the internet in Internet of Things (IoT) applications has a risk of interference caused by environmental conditions. Providing an access point for outdoor applications requires more electricity. The proposed research aimed to optimize data communication between local storage, internet and wireless sensor network (WSN). A hybrid data collection system for an IoT-based solar drip irrigation system using LoRa WAN. The Hybrid system in this study consists of a WAN for local control and data collection using LoRa and uploading to the internet. Apart from storing data in indoor and internet local storage, the system allows local users such as farmers to access a web-based user interface without internet. The WSN system in research uses nRF from previous studies. The blackbox testing shows valid results for nRF, LoRa and HTTP GET data communication series to local and online web server interfaces. The results of a data communication loop programming produces a total average time of 2469ms and a delay of 3000ms on outdoor devices. The indoor device uses 24272ms and a delay of 5000ms for one loop. The Quality of Service (QoS) evaluation showed that the lowest PDR archived by nRF with 97.285%. In other side the longest delay is archived by LoRa with 936ms. Through solar power testing, the overall QoS decreases when the light intensity is below 101 lux, and the solar panel voltage is below 0.121v. But the decrease doesn't seem significant, especially in LoRa with the lowest value of 98.378% and 934ms delay. Meanwhile, the lowest delay was achieved by nRF with 247.6ms. The lowest PDR was archieved by HTTP GET with 96.7638%. Meanwhile, the longest delay was archieved by LoRa 876.6ms. © 2023 IEEE.

File labeling techniques have a long history in analyzing the anthological trends in computational *** situation becomes worse in the case of files downloaded into systems from the ***,most users either have to change file names manually or leave a meaningless name of the files,which increases the time to search required files and results in redundancy and duplications of user ***,no significant work is done on automated file labeling during the organization of heterogeneous user files.A few attempts have been made in topic ***,one major drawback of current topic modeling approaches is better *** rely on specific language types and domain similarity of the *** this research,machine learning approaches have been employed to analyze and extract the information from heterogeneous corpus.A different file labeling technique has also been used to get the meaningful and`cohesive topic of the *** results show that the proposed methodology can generate relevant and context-sensitive names for heterogeneous data files and provide additional insight into automated file labeling in operating systems.

Cross-platform mobile application development frameworks are now widely used among software companies and developers. Despite their time and cost-effectiveness, they still lack the performance and experience of natively developed applications. Many research tools have been proposed to solve this problem by converting a natively developed application from one platform to another. The Trans-Compiler Based Android to iOS Converter (TCAIOSC) was proposed to convert the front-end and back-end code of Android Java applications to iOS applications. Since databases are essential for mobile applications, this paper proposes a new database code conversion model based on trans-compilation and pattern matching. It proposes a model that can be used to support database code conversion between native languages and platforms and applies the proposed model to support the conversion of Firebase Firestore database code from Android (Java) to iOS (Swift) using TCAIOSC. The enhanced tool’s results show high accuracy for the converted database code and a noticeable improvement in the overall conversion results for TCAIOSC. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Computer vision systems designed for posture recognition could offer valuable solutions in the healthcare sector, improving healthy ageing and supporting elderly individuals in their daily routines. One area of interest is the automatic detection of falls, which has garnered attention from computer vision and pattern recognition communities. While many existing methods rely on wearable sensors, which demonstrate high accuracy in fall detection, some individuals may be reluctant to wear such devices. Consequently, alternative approaches, such as vision-based techniques, have been developed. The proposed method utilizes a vision-based system that employs a convolutional neural network (CNN) to recognize and categorize various postures (e.g., sitting, lying, standing) in each frame, if available. This approach begins by detecting the person in the frame, applying background subtraction for human body shape extraction, and associating each daily activity with the extracted shape. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 93.75%, which shows an outstanding performance over existing models. Subsequently, it estimates bounding boxes encompassing the predicted person's body shape. Overall, the proposed technique shows promising results for indoor monitoring systems.

Relip: Reliable in-Band Parallel Communication for Magnetic MIMO Wireless Power Transfer System

In magnetic resonant coupling (MRC) based wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, receiver (RX) feedback communication is promising to enhance the capability and efficiency of the system. Although some studies have explored in-band implementations with low overhead costs, it has not been comprehensively investigated. In this paper, we propose Relip, a Reliable layer-level in-band parallel feedback communication mechanism for MIMO MRC-WPT systems, which addresses the impact of RX-RX couplings (i.e., non-negligible interference from strong couplings and positive effects of relay phenomenon), and provides a theoretical analysis of communication reliability. Technically, we first devise an On-Off based two-phase modulation mechanism to achieve RX identification and dependency detection under relay phenomenon. Then, we utilize observed channel decomposability to collect group-level power transfer channel conditions for eliminating the interference caused by strong RX-RX couplings. Furthermore, we perform RX selection to optimize the trade-off between communication reliability and time overhead. We design and implement the Relip prototype and conduct extensive experiments. The results validate the effectiveness of our mechanism, i.e., Relip can provide ≥99% average decoding accuracy for concurrent feedback communication of 14 devices, achieving an 18.31% improvement compared to the state-of-the-art solution. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Imitation Game for Adversarial Disillusion with Chain-of-Thought Role-Play in Generative AI

As the cornerstone of artificial intelligence, machine perception confronts a fundamental threat posed by adversarial illusions. These adversarial attacks manifest in two primary forms: deductive illusion, where specific stimuli are crafted based on the victim model's general decision logic, and inductive illusion, where the victim model's general decision logic is shaped by specific stimuli. The former exploits the model's decision boundaries to create a stimulus that, when applied, interferes with its decision-making process. The latter reinforces a conditioned reflex in the model, embedding a backdoor during its learning phase that, when triggered by a stimulus, causes aberrant behaviours. The multifaceted nature of adversarial illusions calls for a unified defence framework, addressing vulnerabilities across various forms of attack. In this study, we propose a disillusion paradigm based on the concept of an imitation game. At the heart of the imitation game lies a multimodal generative agent, steered by chain-of-thought reasoning, which observes, internalises and reconstructs the semantic essence of a sample, liberated from the classic pursuit of reversing the sample to its original state. As a proof of concept, we conduct experimental simulations using a multimodal generative dialogue agent and evaluates the methodology under a variety of attack scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework consistently neutralises both deductive and inductive adversarial illusions. Across a range of white-box and black-box attack scenarios, the imitation-based method achieved classification accuracies between 94% and 97% on a subset of the ImageNet dataset, significantly outperforming benchmark defences such as JPEG compression and DiffPure. © 2013 IEEE.

Melanoma is a malignant form of cancer that affects the skin and has a particularly high mortality rate, so it requires early detection to increase the level of safety for users. Diagnosis and detection of skin cancer are usually done through manual screening and visual inspection. This process requires a long time, has high complexity, is subjective, and is prone to errors. CNN is one of the algorithms with advantages in accurate classification. In this research, early detection and classification of melanoma cancer were carried out based on two classes, namely benign and malignant using the Convolutional Neural Network method. Our proposed method yields an accuracy of 81.11% for the validation data. The accuracy results obtained can be improved by using more datasets and increasing the number of layers used. This study uses the CNN method using MobileNet V2 architecture to detect melanoma skin cancer. The class used is benign and malignant. © 2023 IEEE.
