The paper proposes the Consensus Augmented Lagrange Alternating Direction Inexact Newton (Consensus ALADIN) algorithm, a novel approach for solving distributed consensus optimization problems (DC). Consensus ALADIN allows each agent to independently solve its own nonlinear programming problem while coordinating with other agents by solving a consensus quadratic programming (QP) problem. Building on this, we propose Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shanno (BFGS) Consensus ALADIN, a communication-and-computation-efficient Consensus ALADIN. BFGS Consensus ALADIN improves communication efficiency through BFGS approximation techniques and enhances computational efficiency by deriving a closed form for the consensus QP problem. Additionally, by replacing the BFGS approximation with a scaled identity matrix, we develop Reduced Consensus ALADIN, a more computationally efficient variant. We establish the convergence theory for Consensus ALADIN and demonstrate its effectiveness through application to a nonconvex sensor allocation problem. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Open data is closely related to government, supporting transparency and accountability. The paper focus on DKI Jakarta government's open data website, which this website provides an accurate, open, centralized, and integrated database for e-government. This research will use three tools to help collect information for evaluation purpose. First is the Web Accessibility Evaluation tool (WAVE) which will help identify accessibility errors and the web content accessibility guideline. Then the second is the Webpage Test to analyze the website network and speed of loading when accessing the website. And the third use VisualEyes to see how attractive and clear the website is. The aim of this research is to identify the errors and malfunctions that occur and do not affect user comfort when accessing and improving the quality of the site in future. From the results of this research using WAVE, there is still a color contrast between the background and text, and some small errors were found. For now, the website's loading is quite fast, only 8.40 seconds, and the results from VisualEyes are quite high that is 77%, where the website is sufficient to be clear and aesthetically appealing. © 2024 IEEE.

The quantum switch is a vital component for the development of the quantum internet. In an entanglement distribution network, the function of a quantum switch is to generate elementary entanglement with its clients followed by entanglement swapping to distribute end-to-end entanglement of sufficiently high fidelity between clients. The threshold on entanglement fidelity is any quality of service requirement specified by the clients as dictated by the application they run on the network. We consider a discrete time model for a quantum switch that attempts generation of fresh elementary entanglement with clients in each time step in the form of maximally entangled qubit pairs, or Bell pairs, which succeed probabilistically;the successfully generated Bell pairs are stored in noisy quantum memories until they can be swapped. We focus on establishing the value of entanglement distillation of the stored Bell pairs prior to entanglement swapping in presence of their inevitable aging, i.e., decoherence: For a simple instance of a switch with two clients, an exponential decay of entanglement fidelity, and a wellknown probabilistic but heralded two-to-one distillation protocol, given a threshold end-to-end entanglement fidelity, we use the Markov Decision Processes framework to identify the optimal action policy - to wait, to distill, or to swap that maximizes throughput. We compare the switch's performance under the optimal distillation-enabled policy with that excluding distillation. Simulations of the two policies demonstrate the improvements that are possible in principle via optimal use of distillation with respect to average throughput, average fidelity and jitter of end-to-end entanglement, as functions of fidelity threshold. Our model thus helps capture the role of entanglement distillation in mitigating the effects of decoherence in a quantum switch in an entanglement distribution network, adding to the growing literature on quantum switches. © 2023 IEEE.

The detection of fake news is a crucial task in today's society, given the widespread use of social media and online platforms. In this study, we investigate the application of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for the detection of fake news. We consider two different datasets of categorized news articles of various sizes and apply various ML algorithms, along with two methods of text vectorization. Specifically, we examine Bag of Words and Tf-Idf, with the use of stemming and with different n-gram values. The resulting vectors are processed by Naive Bayes algorithms, Linear algorithms, Support Vector Machines, and Random Forest classifiers. F1-score and computational time for each algorithm-vectorization combination were recorded. Our results have shown that Linear Algorithms and Support Vector Machines combined with Tf-Idf vectors and n-gram value of (1,2) produced the highest accuracies, with an F1-score up to 96.8%. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel approach for classifying electrocardiogram (ECG) signals in healthcare applications using federated learning and stacked convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Our innovative technique leverages the distributed nature of federated learning to collaboratively train a high-performance model while preserving data privacy on local devices. We propose a stacked CNN architecture tailored for ECG data, effectively extracting discriminative features across different temporal scales. The evaluation confirms the strength of our approach, culminating in a final model accuracy of 98.6% after 100 communication rounds, significantly exceeding baseline performance. This promising result paves the way for accurate and privacy-preserving ECG classification in diverse healthcare settings, potentially leading to improved diagnosis and patient monitoring. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we present a straightforward teaching strategy for teaching the Python programming language. Our method emphasizes a clear progression from fundamental to sophisticated concepts. Beginning with a thorough explanation of core Python ideas, we show a beginner-level script that dissects each line of code and displays the results. One distinguishing feature of our system is that students use ChatGPT to optimize code, which encourages them to improve the core program with fewer lines. After getting the updated solutions, students carefully compare the original and optimized programs to discover improvements and potential flaws. This study underlines the effectiveness of the Straight-Through Approach, which focuses on improving Python understanding while also developing critical thinking and code optimization skills. Our findings show that this strategy is a simple and effective way for teachers to assist students in growing from basic to advanced Python abilities, resulting in a dynamic and successful learning environment. The proposed technique will teach students how to use AI-driven modules correctly, such as ChatGPT. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

A lot of metrics and tools have been devised to measure the complexity of software systems. Through measurement, software professionals can have a better understanding and control of a software's complexity. In this paper, we reviewed complexity metrics and tools for object-oriented systems. The existing tools measure either implemented systems which may be source code or compile binaries, or class diagrams. The tools that measure implemented systems already offer a wide variety of features to satisfy different needs. However, the tools that measure class diagrams are not only poor in amount, but all take in class diagram XMI files, with none of them taking in PlantUML class diagram source code. PlantUML is a popular text-based UML diagramming tool that enables users to define UML diagrams with a domain specific language then renders the diagram for them. Hence, we developed a web application that measures class diagram complexity via PlantUML class diagram source code. It measures five class metrics and seven system metrics visualized as tables and bar charts, with the results exportable to PDF and CSV. Our tool's measurements were also evaluated to be correct when it is within our scope of supported syntax. © 2023 IEEE.

Today,due to the pandemic of COVID-19 the entire world is facing a serious health *** to the World Health Organization(WHO),people in public places should wear a face mask to control the rapid transmission of *** governmental bodies of different countries imposed that wearing a face mask is compulsory in public ***,it is very difficult to manually monitor people in overcrowded *** research focuses on providing a solution to enforce one of the important preventative measures of COVID-19 in public places,by presenting an automated system that automatically localizes masked and unmasked human faces within an image or video of an area which assist in this outbreak of *** paper demonstrates a transfer learning approach with the Faster-RCNN model to detect faces that are masked or *** proposed framework is built by fine-tuning the state-of-the-art deep learning model,Faster-RCNN,and has been validated on a publicly available dataset named Face Mask Dataset(FMD)and achieving the highest average precision(AP)of 81%and highest average Recall(AR)of 84%.This shows the strong robustness and capabilities of the Faster-RCNN model to detect individuals with masked and un-masked ***,this work applies to real-time and can be implemented in any public service area.

Breast cancer stands as one of the most prevalent malignancies affecting women. Alterations in molecular pathways in cancer cells represent key regulatory disruptions that drive malignancy, influencing cancer cell survival, proliferation, and potentially modulating therapeutic responsiveness. Therefore, decoding the intricate molecular mechanisms and identifying novel therapeutic targets through systematic computational approaches are essential steps toward advancing effective breast cancer treatments. In this study, we developed an integrative computational framework that combines single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and multi-omics analyses to delineate the functional characteristics of malignant cell subsets in breast cancer patients. Our analyses revealed a significant correlation between cholesterol biosynthesis and HER2 expression in malignant breast cancer cells, supported by proteomics data, gene expression profiles, drug treatment scores, and cell-surface HER2 intensity measurements. Given previous evidence linking cholesterol biosynthesis to HER2 membrane dynamics, we proposed a combinatorial strategy targeting both pathways. Experimental validation through clonogenic and viability assays demonstrated that simultaneous inhibition of cholesterol biosynthesis (via statins) and HER2 (via Neratinib) synergistically reduced malignant breast cancer cells, even in HER2-negative contexts. Through systematic analysis of scRNA-seq and multi-omics data, our study computationally identified and experimentally validated cholesterol biosynthesis and HER2 as novel combinatorial therapeutic targets in breast cancer. This data-driven approach highlights the potential of leveraging multiple molecular profiling techniques to uncover previously unexplored treatment strategies. © 2025 The Authors

This study explores robotic telepresence in classrooms, from the perspectives of both the remote students (operators) and their in-person classmates. Analyzing a subset of field study data from 35 participants (22 operators, 13 classmates), we identified differing priorities: operators of the robot emphasize the need for improved functional aspects like camera control, while co-present classmates value social presence, interaction and identification, advocating for features like personalization and effective communication channels. These insights underline the need for telepresence robots that balance functional efficacy with social integration to provide a holistic educational experience. This work, though incomplete, enriches Group and CSCW literature on telepresence robots to facilitate collaborative interactions by highlighting the distinct needs of remote and in-person students, proposing design recommendations for telepresence robots that are technically proficient and socially responsive. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
