Blockchain is a cutting-edge technology in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Its use in managing e-waste offers a potential solution for one of the most urgent environmental issues. This study conducted a comprehensive evaluation of existing research studies that assess the deployment of blockchain in e-waste management. It also analyzes the potential of blockchain to revolutionize the lifespan of electronic waste (e-waste), from tracking and traceability to assuring compliance with recycling regulations. Blockchain can offer augmentation in supply chains, enable safe data sharing among stakeholders, and assist in constructing incentive-based systems for responsible recycling activities. Additionally, it explores both the opportunities and challenges of this technology. The findings in this paper will present a detailed analysis of blockchain’s contribution to creating sustainable and circular methods for e-waste management.
