This paper considers the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints over a network of agents, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. Existing distributed online algorithms require that each agent broadcasts its decision to its neighbors at each iteration. To better utilize the limited communication resources, we propose a distributed event-triggered online primal-dual algorithm with two-point bandit feedback. Under several classes of appropriately chosen decreasing parameter sequences and non-increasing event-triggered threshold sequences, we establish dynamic network regret and network cumulative constraint violation bounds. These bounds are comparable to the results achieved by distributed event-triggered online algorithms with full-information feedback. This paper proposes a Risk-Averse Just-In-Time (RAJIT) operation scheme for Ammonia-Hydrogen-based Micro-Grids (AHMGs) to boost electricity-hydrogen-ammonia coupling under uncertainties. First, an off-grid AHMG model is developed, featuring a novel multi-mode ammonia synthesis process and a hydrogen-ammonia dual gas turbine with tunable feed-in ratios. Subsequently, a state-behavior mapping strategy linking hydrogen storage levels with the operation modes of ammonia synthesis is established to prevent cost-ineffective shutdowns. The proposed model substantially improves operational flexibility but results in a challenging nonlinear fractional program. Based upon this model, a data-driven RAJIT scheme is developed for the real-time rolling optimization of AHMGs. Unlike conventional one-size-fits-all schemes using one optimization method throughout, the data-driven RAJIT intelligently switches between cost-effective deterministic optimization and risk-averse online-learning distributionally robust optimization depending on actual risk profiles, thus capitalizing on the respective strengths of these two optimization methods. To facilitate the solution of the resulting nonlinear program, we develop an equivalent-reformulation-based solution methodology by leveraging a constraint-tightening technique. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees safety and yields an overall cost reduction up to 14.6% compared with several state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper considers distributed online convex optimization with adversarial constraints. In this setting, a network of agents makes decisions at each round, and then only a portion of the loss function and a coordinate block of the constraint function are privately revealed to each agent. The loss and constraint functions are convex and can vary arbitrarily across rounds. The agents collaborate to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. A novel distributed online algorithm is proposed and it achieves an O(T max{c,1−c}) network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the number of rounds and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds (i.e, there is a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints), the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). Moreover, if the loss functions are strongly convex, then the network regret bound is reduced to O(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(√log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to achieve reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) online convex optimization with adversarial constraints under Slater’s condition. Training of project managers and their development of knowledge competencies and digital competencies is one of main attributes of success performance results in each sector. The use of digital and knowledge technologies can be a prerequisite for effective life-cycle cost management in context of development of digital and knowledge competencies. Life Cycle Cost Management is an important part of cost management and approach in each industry. The construction industry is an important sector of the country's economy. It is the relationship between project managers and their level of use of knowledge and digital competencies that can be key concerning effective cost management in construction. Acquisition of digital and knowledge competencies and skills through the use of digital and knowledge technologies is a process for increasing managerial competencies. This research addresses the relationship and how to acquire knowledge and digital competencies using knowledge and digital technologies in Life Cycle Cost Management. It is the relationship and use of digital technologies, the level of knowledge and digital competences and the level of lifetime costs that is the subject of research. The main goal of the research is to point out the relationship between the acquisition of knowledge and digital competencies and the amount of life cycle cost management in individual phases of the life cycle of a construction project. © 2020 IEEE.

For education, 2020 became the year of distance learning and online communication in the teacher-student relationship, but also in the student-student relationship. This teaching system brings many challenges for both parties and the need to improve the communication and digital competencies of all involved. It also requires increased demands on the hardware and software provision of teaching on both sides of the teaching process. This article focuses on the issue and description of communication and digital skills needed for distance learning. The main goal of the research is to compare and map the communication and digital ICT competencies of faculty students with a construction focus during full-time and distance learning. The results of the research are analyzed in the article using methods of descriptive as well as analytical statistics. © 2020 IEEE.

Explicit MPC often results in a large number of irregular partitions in the feasible region as the dimension of the system increases and the storage requirement for the control and region parameters often limit its applications. In this paper, we consider a class of discrete-time linear systems with polytopic parametric uncertainties and provide a robust control Lyapunov based synthesis method to obtain robust low-complexity PWA controllers on regular partitionings. By implementing a refinement procedure, we can fit the PWA feedback control law in each regular partitioning based on feasibility of linear programming problems, which preserves stability, constraint satisfaction, and certain performance requirement. Numerical examples will demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

In this paper, we study the distributed nonconvex optimization problem, aiming to minimize the average value of the local nonconvex cost functions using local information exchange. To reduce the communication overhead, we introduce three general classes of compressors, i.e., compressors with bounded relative compression error, compressors with globally bounded absolute compression error, and compressors with locally bounded absolute compression error. By integrating them, respectively, with the distributed gradient tracking algorithm, we then propose three corresponding compressed distributed nonconvex optimization algorithms. Motivated by the state-of-the-art BEER algorithm proposed in [1], which is an efficient compressed algorithm integrating gradient tracking with biased and contractive compressors, our first proposed algorithm extends this algorithm to accommodate both biased and non-contractive compressors. For each algorithm, we design a novel Lyapunov function to demonstrate its sublinear convergence to a stationary point if the local cost functions are smooth. Furthermore, when the global cost function satisfies the Polyak–Lojasiewicz (P–L) condition, we show that our proposed algorithms linearly converge to a global optimal point. It is worth noting that, for compressors with bounded relative compression error and globally bounded absolute compression error, our proposed algorithms’ parameters do not require prior knowledge of the P–L constant. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical examples, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in significantly reducing the communication burden while maintaining the convergence performance. Moreover, simulation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform the state-of-the-art compressed distributed nonconvex optimization algorithms. Copyright © 2023, The Authors.
