Design of Experiments for Battery Aging Estimation

Li-ion batteries are widely used in EV applications and are imposed to several aging effects during their lifetime. Since battery health cannot be measured directly, information about its health can be obtained by iteratively re-estimating the parameters of the model describing its dynamical behavior. The optimal design of experiments is investigated in this paper. The proposed method applies families of input signals (PRBS current and constant current-constant voltage (CC-CV) signals) to the batteries to estimate the key aging factors. Simulation experiments have been used to analyze the statistical properties of the estimators as a function of the design parameters of the input signal families. The results show that the CC-CV charging-discharging cycle has the possibility to gain the most information out of the battery model parameter estimation. © 2018

Distributed delay model of the McKeithan’s network

In this paper CRNs containing linear reaction chains with multiple joint complexes were considered in order to obtain an equivalent reduced order delayed CRN model with distributed time delays. For this purpose, our earlier method (Lipták and Hangos (2018)) for decomposing the chains of linear reactions with multiple joint complexes was used together with the "linear chain trick". An analytical expression for the kernel function of the distributed delay was also derived from the reaction rate coefficients of the linear reaction chains. Our approach was demonstrated using the example of the well known McKeithan’s network model of kinetic proofreading.

The H ∞ output tracking control problem of the networked control systems (NCSs) under an adaptively adjusted event-triggered scheme is investigated in this paper. Firstly, a novel adaptively adjusted event-triggered scheme developed in the NCSs with stochastic sensor faults is proposed to choose the necessary packets of sampled data to be transmitted through the networks. Then, the considered system is described as a time-delay system with a delay-distribution for investigation. Based on the established model, a novel stability criterion and the state-feedback controller design with a desired performance of H ∞ output tracking control for the systems are both derived by using Lyapunov functional. An algorithm is also presented to explain the process of adaptively adjusted event-triggered scheme method. Finally, a satellite tracking case is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

We investigate two classes of quantum control problems by using frequency-domain optimization algorithms in the context of ultrafast laser control of quantum systems. In the first class, the system model is known and a frequency-domain gradient-based optimization algorithm is applied to searching for an optimal control field to selectively and robustly manipulate the population transfer in atomic Rubidium. The other class of quantum control problems involves an experimental system with an unknown model. In the case, we introduce a differential evolution algorithm with a mixed strategy to search for optimal control fields and demonstrate the capability in an ultrafast laser control experiment for the fragmentation of Pr(hfac)3 molecules. In industrial processes, various types of faults often propagate from one unit to another along information and material flows. In severe cases, fault propagation can eventually affect the entire plant, leading to the reduction in product quality and productivity, and even causing damages. In order to avoid these issues, effective root cause diagnosis is desired because the correct identification of the sources of process abnormalities is critically important for restoring the system to its normal condition in a timely manner. In recent years, the data-driven causality analysis method, such as Granger causality (GC) test, has been adopted to identify the causes of process faults. However, the conventional pairwise GC only considers the causal relationship between a pair of time series. In multivariate cases, repeated pairwise analyses are often conducted, which yet often give over-complex and misleading results. To solve this problem, in this research, the multivariate GC technique, which measures the conditional dependence between time series, is utilized to construct the causal map between process variables. In addition, the obtained causal map is further simplified by finding its maximum spanning tree, facilitating the identification of the root cause. The feasibility of the proposed method is illustrated by case studies. © 2018

While immune repertoire(IR) dynamics encode critical disease signatures, existing models fail to capture the non-equilibrium processes that governing clonal selection and somatic hypermutation (SHM). We develop a biophysical framework that mathematically reconstructs IR evolution through energy landscape optimization, where 1) clonal emergence probabilities map to metastable states, 2) repertoire transitions obey non-equilibrium dynamics, and 3) inter-IR distances quantify the distribution transformation costs via optimal transport theory. This model enables macroscopic immune state detection from 10k cells by resolving critical fluctuations in sparse sampling regimes. Experimental validation across murine/human cohorts demonstrates precise unsupervised stratification of immune stages and disease states without prior clinical annotations. By bridging stochastic SHM kinetics with deterministic repertoire shifts, our approach establishes quantitative metrics for tracking immunological trajectories and pathological progression. This paradigm shift from static pattern recognition to dynamic process decoding empowers sensitive immunomonitoring and personalized therapeutic design through ultra-low-input clinical sampling.

In this paper we study delay robustness of PID controllers in stabilizing systems containing uncertain, variable *** consider second-order unstable systems and seek analytical characterization and exact computation of the PID delay margin,where by PID delay margin we mean the maximal range of delay values within which the system can be robustly stabilized by a PID controller. Our contribution is threefold. First, we show that the delay margin achieved by PID control coincides with that by PD controllers. Second, we show that other than helping stabilize the delay-free part of a plant, the proportional control contributes no action to increase the delay margin. Finally, we show that the PID delay margin can be computed efficiently by solving a unimodal problem, that is, a univariate optimization problem that admits a unique maximum and hence is a convex optimization problem in one variable. This unimodal problem is one of pseudo-concave optimization and hence can be solved using standard convex optimization or gradient-based methods. As such, from a computational perspective, the PID delay margin problem is completely resolved in this paper! The results not only insure that the PID delay margin problem be readily solvable, but also provide fundamental conceptual insights into the PID control of delay systems, and analytical justifications to long-held engineering intuitions and heuristics, thus lending useful guidelines in the tuning and analytical design of PID controllers.

The overall security is a new topic on network security in Today's digital business. As known, graphical passwords (GPWs) are applied in the world. Topological graphic passwords (Topsnut-gpws) differ from the existing GPWs, since they can be expressed by popular matrices and can produce graphic groups for encrypting networks. New coding techniques are introduced and new coding graphic groups and matrix groups are constructed in this article. Some new problems are given for investigating deeply graphic groups and matrix groups.

In this paper, the tracking performance limitation of networked control systems (NCSs) is studied. The NCSs is considered as continuous-time linear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems with random reference noises. The controlled plants include unstable poles and non-minimum phase (NMP) zeros. The output feedback path is affected by multiple communication constraints. We focus on some basic communication constraints, including additive white noise (AWN), quantization noise, bandwidth, as well as encoder-decoder. The system performance is evaluated with the tracking error energy, and used a two-degree of freedom (2DOF) controller. The explicit representation of the tracking performance is given in this paper. The results indicate the tracking performance limitations rely to internal characteristics of the plant (unstable poles and NMP zeros), reference noises (the reference noise power distribution (RNPD) and its directions) and the characteristics of communication constraints. The characteristics of communication constraints include communication noise power distribution (CNPD), quantization noise power distribution (QNPD), and their distribution directions, transform bandwidth allocation (TBA), transform encoder-decoder allocation (TEA), and their allocation directions, and NMP zeros and MP part of bandwidth. Moreover, the tracking performance limitations are also affected by the angles between the each transform NMP zero direction and RNPD direction, and these angles between each transform unstable poles direction and the direction of communication constraint distribution/allocation. In addition, for MIMO NCSs, bandwidth (there are not identical two channels) always can affects the direction of unstable poles, and the channel allocation of bandwidth and encode-decode may be used for a feasible method for the performance allocation of each channels.
