We present an approach for automated evolutionary design of the functionary of driving agent, able to operate a software model of fast running car. The objective of our work is to automatically discover a set of driving rules (if existent) that are general enough to be able to adequately control the car in all sections of predefined circuits. In order to evolve an agent with such capabilities, we propose an indirect, generative representation of the driving rules as algebraic functions of the features of the current surroundings of the car. These functions, when evaluated for the current surrounding of the car yield concrete values of the main attributes of the driving style (e.g., straight line velocity, turning velocity, etc.), applied by the agent in the currently negotiated section of the circuit. Experimental results verify both the very existence of the general driving rules and the ability of the employed genetic programming framework to automatically discover them. The evolved driving rules offer a favorable generality, in that a single rule can be successfully applied (i) not only for all the section of a particular circuit, but also (ii) for the sections in several a priori defined circuits featuring different characteristics.

Community Coordinated Multimedia (CCM) provides an extended and enhanced human experience by collaboratively consuming electronic and networked content and multimedia-intensive services. Community coordinated multimedia vision raises the challenges of multimedia content creation, interpretation, exchange, and consumption over a large range of heterogeneous services, terminals and networks. The development of CCM metamodel plays a key role in tackling these challenges by enabling the transparent multimedia aggregation and exchange crossing communities. This paper aims to design and develop the CCM metamodel. A generic terminology for CCM metamodeling is developed. A extensive study on metamodeling activities and metamodeling methodologies is presented. A combined metamodeling approach is proposed for the CCM metamodel development. Experiences and results on the CCM metamodeling and CCM metamodel-driven content annotation prototype are elaborated.

This paper proposes a collaborative experience based travel recommendation service for Hakka culture. This service utilizes mobile devices as platform to share and purify the user's knowledge of Hakka culture. By applying TF-IDF conversion on tags that were extracted from users' experience and past knowledge, in this paper we argue that a better recommendation service can be provided compared to the traditional frequency based service. Possible AI approach for utilizing the TF-IDF data is also proposed to improve the service level by using online adaptive clustering algorithm without increasing the resource requirements.

Transforming a text-based clinical guideline in a computer-interpretable form is a time-consuming and demanding task due to the various users involved, who have different technical and medical background. In the past, different guideline representation languages and supporting tools have been developed, however, these approaches seldom address the various users' demands and needs in the different steps of the guidelines' life cycle. Our approach is oriented on the guideline life-cycle and takes the requirements and the interactions of the various actors into account to formalize guidelines in a computer-interpretable guideline representation by using a semi-automatic way based on NLP techniques. We analyzed the guideline lifecycle and the roles of the actors to build such a model. This model is prototypical implemented and showed the usefulness and utility for the various users.

We introduce the DeMorgan gate, an Independence of Causal Interactions (ICI) model that is capable of modeling opposing inuences, i.e., a mixture of positive and negative inuences of parents on a child. The model is a noisy version of a conjunctive normal form of Boolean functions and is an extension and a combination of the popular Noisy OR and Noisy-AND models, preserving their intuitive semantics. We report the results of a simple experiment testing the usefulness of the proposed model for elicitation of conditional probability distributions.

Empirical comparisons and categorizations of information visualization tools lack important considerations: the former undervalue the need for a theoretical background, and the latter tend to have too much distance from the user because they do not consider definite user tasks. Therefore, our work combines these approaches and presents the results of both a qualitative evaluation and a recently published categorization. We focus on the visualization of temporal data and reveal that current tools realize only a small part of the visualization possibilities in this field.

This paper proposes a system to reconstruct the 3D shape model of background regions for generating 3D video easily. As the progress of computer vision technologies continues, many 3D video systems have been developed that tend to focus on automatic 3D reconstruction to capture target (foreground) objects. On the other hand, the 3D shapes of background regions such as walls and floors are generally made manually, for example, using 3D modeling software such as CAD. However, the operation is not easy for novices. Our system provides an easy background modeling method for such users. User operations include segmenting multiple background images into several boxes by indi cating their vertices and giving the correspondence of the boxes between multiple images. As a result, the 3D coordinates of the vertices are calculated using a stereo vision algorithm.

Advances in wireless networks and positioning technologies (e.g., CPS) have enabled new data management applications that monitor moving objects. In such new applications, realtime data analysis such as clustering analysis is becoming one of the most important requirements. In this paper, we present the problem of clustering moving objects in spatial networks and propose a unified framework to address this problem. Due to the innate feature of continuously changing positions of moving objects, the clustering results dynamically change. By exploiting the unique features of road networks, our framework first introduces a notion of cluster block (CB) as the underlying clustering unit. We then divide the clustering process into the continuous maintenance of CBs and periodical construction of clusters with different criteria based on CBs. The algorithms for efficiently maintaining and organizing the CBs to construct clusters are proposed. Extensive experimental results show that our clustering framework achieves high efficiency for clustering moving objects in real road networks.
