The integration of database and information retrieval techniques provides users with a wide range of high quality services. We present a prototype system, called NUITS, for efficiently processing keyword queries on top of a relational database. Our NUITS allows users to issue simple keyword queries as well as advanced keyword queries with conditions. The integration of database and information retrieval techniques provides users with a wide range of high quality services. We present a prototype system, called NUITS, for efficiently processing keyword queries on top of a relational database. Becausemining complete set of frequent patterns from dense database could be impractical, an interesting alternative has been proposed recently. Instead of mining the complete set of frequent patterns, the new model only finds out the maximal frequent patterns, which can generate all frequent patterns. FP-growth algorithm is one of the most efficient frequent-pattern mining methods published so far. However,because FP-tree and conditional FP-trees must be two-way traversable, a great deal memory is needed in process of mining. This paper proposes an efficient algorithm Unid_FP-Max for mining maximal frequent patterns based on unidirectional FP-tree. Because of generation method of unidirectional FP-tree and conditional unidirectional FP-trees, the algorithm reduces the space consumption to the fullest extent. With the development of two techniques:single path pruning and header table pruning which can cut down many conditional unidirectional FP-trees generated recursively in mining process, Unid_ FP-Max further lowers the expense of time and space.

Process artifacts identified from a process description often implicitly bias and cross-cut the definition of generic services from various tools that assist/automate process activities. The resulting toolsupport is tightly coupled with the process definition it supports, leading to poor adaptability when the required artifacts or process activities evolve/change. This issue is of further concern while providing toolsupport for assisting knowledge-intensive process activities through an interactive exploration of related knowledge-bases. Therefore, our focus is on early separation of process related cross-cutting concerns from generic tool-support services for creating, browsing, accessing, querying, inferencing, and visualizing associated knowledge-bases. We discuss our approach in the context of designing tool support for a system security Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process automation based on service-oriented and aspect-oriented design paradigms.

It is well known that taking the Web user profiles into account can enhance the effectiveness of Web mining systems. However, due to the dynamic and complex nature of Web users, automatically acquiring worthwhile user profiles was found to be very challenging. Ontology-based user profile can possess more accurate user information. This research emphasizes on acquiring search intentions information. This paper presents a new approach of developing user profile for Web searching. The model considers the user's search intentions by the process of PTM (Pattern-Taxonomy Model). Initial experiments show that the user profile based on search intention is more useful than the generic PTM user profile. Conventional sensors have been designed to minimize noise effects. Any sensor that is designed to detect a certain physical variable is influenced to a certain degree by other physical variables. This suggests that any sensor is potentially tap able of detecting multiple physical variables. In the present study, we consider sensing devices that are easily influenced by several physical variables and make full use of their multi-sensing characteristics through statistical signal processing and machine learning techniques with a wide variety of prior information. The proposed sensor design approach is completely different from the conventional approach with respect to system design and has advantages in terms of cost and system simplification compared to existing approaches. This new idea can be realized by developing a novel multiple-input/single-output sensor that can detect various variables such as pressure, acceleration, temperature and light emission by a single device. The sensor is applied to monitor the symptoms of tire, earthquake and break-in for the purpose of home security. The proposed security system consists of the following three steps: (1) detection of disaster by a probabilistic outlier detection procedure using an auto-regressive model, (2) disaster feature extraction by Kalman filter on a state space model, and (3) disaster classification by multiclass support vector machine.
