In this paper, the optimization of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) localization under jamming attacks is studied. In the considered network, a base station (BS) collaborates with an active UAV to localize a target UAV. During this positioning process, a jamming UAV transmits discontinuous signals to passive UAVs to interfere the distance information measurement. To localize the target UAV under jamming attacks, the BS jointly use two localization methods: 1) generative adversarial network (GAN)-based positioning method and 2) time difference of arrival (TDOA)-based positioning method. Since GAN-based positioning method cannot defense in a strong jamming signal while TDOA-based positioning method may consume more energy and sacrifice localization accuracy, the BS must select an appropriate positioning method (GAN-based or TDOA-based methods) and four distance measurement information of passive UAVs to estimate the position of the target UAV. This problem is formulated as an optimization problem whose goal is to minimize the positioning error between the estimated and the ground truth positions of the target UAV while considering jamming attacks and the trajectory of passive UAVs. To solve this problem, we propose a mixture Gaussian distribution model-based collaborative reinforcement learning (RL) method which enables the active UAV to determine its transmit power and trajectory, and enables the BS to select the most appropriate subsets of distance measurement information and the optimal positioning method according to the movement of passive UAVs and the unknown jamming attack pattern of the jamming UAV. Simulation results show the proposed method can reduce the positioning error of the target UAV by up to 36.5% compared to the method that does not consider the GAN-based positioning method.

Background: Endometrial cancer is one of the most common tumors in the female reproductive system and is the third most common gynecological malignancy that causes death after ovarian and cervical cancer. Early diagnosis can significantly improve the 5-year survival rate of patients. With the development of artificial intelligence, computer-assisted diagnosis plays an increasingly important role in improving the accuracy and objectivity of diagnosis and reducing the workload of doctors. However, the absence of publicly available image datasets restricts the application of computer-assisted diagnostic techniques. Methods: In this paper, a publicly available Endometrial Cancer PET/CT Image dataset for Evaluation of Semantic Segmentation and Detection of Hypermetabolic Regions (ECPC-IDS) are published. Specifically, the segmentation section includes PET and CT images, with 7159 images in multiple formats totally. In order to prove the effectiveness of segmentation on ECPC-IDS, six deep learning semantic segmentation methods are selected to test the image segmentation task. The object detection section also includes PET and CT images, with 3579 images and XML files with annotation information totally. Eight deep learning methods are selected for experiments on the detection task. Results: This study is conduct using deep learning-based semantic segmentation and object detection methods to demonstrate the distinguishability on ECPC-IDS. From a separate perspective, the minimum and maximum values of Dice on PET images are 0.546 and 0.743, respectively. The minimum and maximum values of Dice on CT images are 0.012 and 0.510, respectively. The target detection section's maximum mAP values on PET and CT images are 0.993 and 0.986, respectively. Conclusion: As far as we know, this is the first publicly available dataset of endometrial cancer with a large number of multi-modality images. Generative AI (GenAI), exemplified by Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, is revolutionizing various fields. Central to this transformation is data Center Networking (DCN), which not only provides the computational power necessary for GenAI training and inference but also delivers GenAI-driven services to users. This article examines an interplay between GenAI and DCNs, highlighting their symbiotic relationship and mutual advancements. We begin by reviewing current challenges within DCNs and discuss how GenAI contributes to enhancing DCN capabilities through innovations, such as data augmentation, process automation, and domain transfer. We then focus on analyzing the distinctive characteristics of GenAI workloads on DCNs, gaining insights that catalyze the evolution of DCNs to more effectively support GenAI and LLMs. Moreover, to illustrate the seamless integration of GenAI with DCNs, we present a case study on full-lifecycle DCN digital twins. In this study, we employ LLMs equipped with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to formulate optimization problems for DCNs and adopt Diffusion-Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) for optimizing the RAG knowledge placement strategy. This approach not only demonstrates the application of advanced GenAI methods within DCNs but also positions the digital twin as a pivotal GenAI service operating on DCNs. We anticipate that this article can promote further research into enhancing the virtuous interaction between GenAI and DCNs. © 2024, CC BY.

Model Inversion Attacks Through Target-Specific Conditional Diffusion Models

Model inversion attacks (MIAs) aim to reconstruct private images from a target classifier's training set, thereby raising privacy concerns in AI applications. Previous GAN-based MIAs tend to suffer from inferior generative fidelity due to GAN's inherent flaws and biased optimization within latent space. To alleviate these issues, leveraging on diffusion models' remarkable synthesis capabilities, we propose Diffusion-based Model Inversion (Diff-MI) attacks. Specifically, we introduce a novel target-specific conditional diffusion model (CDM) to purposely approximate target classifier's private distribution and achieve superior accuracy-fidelity balance. Our method involves a two-step learning paradigm. Step-1 incorporates the target classifier into the entire CDM learning under a pretrain-thenfinetune fashion, with creating pseudo-labels as model conditions in pretraining and adjusting specified layers with image predictions in fine-tuning. Step-2 presents an iterative image reconstruction method, further enhancing the attack performance through a combination of diffusion priors and target knowledge. Additionally, we propose an improved max-margin loss that replaces the hard max with top-k maxes, fully leveraging feature information and soft labels from the target classifier. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Diff-MI significantly improves generative fidelity with an average decrease of 20% in FID while maintaining competitive attack accuracy compared to state-of-the-art methods across various datasets and models. Recognizing the promise of natural language interfaces to databases, prior studies have emphasized the development of text-to-SQL systems. While substantial progress has been made in this field, existing research has concentrated on generating SQL statements from text queries. The broader challenge, however, lies in inferring new information about the returned data. Our research makes two major contributions to address this gap. First, we introduce a novel Internet-of-Things (IoT) text-to-SQL dataset comprising 10,985 text-SQL pairs and 239,398 rows of network traffic activity. The dataset contains additional query types limited in prior text-to-SQL datasets, notably temporal-related queries. Our dataset is sourced from a smart building's IoT ecosystem exploring sensor read and network traffic data. Second, our dataset allows two-stage processing, where the returned data (network traffic) from a generated SQL can be categorized as malicious or not. Our results show that joint training to query and infer information about the data can improve overall text-to-SQL performance, nearly matching substantially larger models. We also show that current large language models (e.g., GPT3.5) struggle to infer new information about returned data, thus our dataset provides a novel test bed for integrating complex domain-specific reasoning into LLMs. © 2024, CC BY.

When given two human face images to choose, a subject's decision process is recorded as a sequence of eye movement gaze points. This sequence is then analyzed to detect and predict the preference made by the subject. In an experiment with twelve subjects, each with sixty trials, we have analyzed the 720 sequences using five attributes and combinatorial fusion. Results are promising with good accuracy and efficiency. In this paper, we characterize the decision-making behavior of each subject and measure the cognitive diversity between each of these twelve subjects and a prototypical subject. Our study contributes to improving the data and predictive quality of the experiment and the computational modeling. © 2022 IEEE.

Surgery duration prediction using multi-task feature selection

Efficient optimization of operating room (OR) activity poses a significant challenge for hospital managers due to the complex and risky nature of the environment. The traditional "one size fits all" approach to OR scheduling is no longer practical, and personalized medicine is required to meet the diverse needs of patients, care providers, medical procedures, and system constraints within limited resources. This paper aims to introduce a scientific and practical tool for predicting surgery durations and improving OR performance for maximum benefit to patients and the hospital. Previous works used machine-learning models for surgery duration prediction based on preoperative data. The models consider covariates known to the medical staff at the time of scheduling the surgery. Given a large number of covariates, model selection becomes crucial, and the number of covariates used for prediction depends on the available sample size. Our proposed approach utilizes multi-task regression to select a common subset of predicting covariates for all tasks with the same sample size while allowing the model's coefficients to vary between them. A regression task can refer to a single surgeon or operation type or the interaction between them. By considering these diverse factors, our method provides an overall more accurate estimation of the surgery durations, and the selected covariates that enter the model may help to identify the resources required for a specific surgery. We found that when the regression tasks were surgeon-based or based on the pair of operation type and surgeon, our suggested approach outperformed the compared baseline suggested in a previous study. However, our approach failed to reach the baseline for an operation-type-based task. By accurately estimating surgery durations, hospital managers can provide care to a greater number of patients, optimize resource allocation and utilization, and reduce waste. The current research aims at examining the Kazakhstani scholars’ publications in order to reveal the topdiscussed topics and possible cooperation topics. By employing natural language processing, the research abstracts are grouped thematically to demonstrate the various clusters of themes present. The results reveal specific themes of the Kazakhstani research to provide the recommendations for the future academic development of the country and the cooperation between various fields. Thus, the approach illustrated the benefit of using thematic clustering for analysis and categorization of a vast amount of scholarly production.

Lc-Stream: An Elastic Scheduling Strategy with Latency Constrained in Geo-Distributed Stream Computing Environments

An effective scheduling strategy is critical for achieving better performance in real-time stream processing systems. How to process real-time data stream quickly and efficiently is always a challenging task, especially when clusters are collaborating in a Geo-Distributed computing environment. To address this challenge, we propose an elastic scheduling strategy with latency constrained in Geo-Distributed stream computing environments called Lc-Stream. This paper focuses on the following aspects: (1) An optimized data stream redirection method that is proposed based on queuing network algorithm, along with a computing resource model, a latency constrained scheduling model and a communication energy consumption model. (2) An updated node selection method based on the inter-layer task correlation, to reduce the communication latency between groups at the executor granularity. (3) A network cluster distribution for Geo-Distributed computing environment to ensure energy saving under low transmission latency. Our experimental results demonstrate that Lc-Stream reduces the overall latency of typical Geo-Distributed multitasking topology by more than 19%, and increases the throughput by more than 37%. Compared with the existing strategies in Storm, it also helps balance the load between systems and avoid excessive use of computing nodes. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

ViGT: Proposal-free Video Grounding with Learnable Token in Transformer

The video grounding (VG) task aims to locate the queried action or event in an untrimmed video based on rich linguistic descriptions. Existing proposal-free methods are trapped in complex interaction between video and query, overemphasizing cross-modal feature fusion and feature correlation for VG. In this paper, we propose a novel boundary regression paradigm that performs regression token learning in a transformer. Particularly, we present a simple but effective proposal-free framework, namely Video Grounding Transformer (ViGT), which predicts the temporal boundary using a learnable regression token rather than multi-modal or cross-modal features. In ViGT, the benefits of a learnable token are manifested as follows. (1) The token is unrelated to the video or the query and avoids data bias toward the original video and query. (2) The token simultaneously performs global context aggregation from video and query features. First, we employed a sharing feature encoder to project both video and query into a joint feature space before performing cross-modal co-attention (i.e., video-to-query attention and query-to-video attention) to highlight discriminative features in each modality. Furthermore, we concatenated a learnable regression token [REG] with the video and query features as the input of a vision-language transformer. Finally, we utilized the token [REG] to predict the target moment and visual features to constrain the foreground and background probabilities at each timestamp. The proposed ViGT performed well on three public datasets: ANet Captions, TACoS and YouCookII. Extensive ablation studies and qualitative analysis further validated the interpretability of ViGT.
