The current severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) public health catastrophe, both human lives have been lost and the economy has disrupted severely the current scenario. In this paper, we develop a detection module using a series of steps that involves pre-processing, feature extraction and detection of covid-19 patients based on the images collected from the computerized tomography (CT) images. The images are initially pre-processed and then the features are extracted using Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and then finally classified using back propagation neural network (BPNN). The simulation is conducted to test the efficacy of the model against various CT image datasets of numerous patients. The results of simulation shows that the proposed method achieves higher detection rate, and reduced mean average percentage error (MAPE) than other existing methodologies.

This study explored the application of CNN-Transfer Learning for nondestructive chicken egg fertility detection for precise poultry hatchery practices. Four models, VGG16, ResNet50, InceptionNet, and MobileNet, were trained and evaluated on a dataset (200 single egg images) using augmented images (rotation, flip, scale, translation, and reflection). The training results demonstrated that all models achieved high accuracy, indicating their ability to learn and classify chicken eggs’ fertility. However, variations in accuracy and performance were observed when these models were evaluated on the testing datasets. The InceptionNet exhibited the best overall performance, accurately classifying fertile and non-fertile eggs. It demonstrated excellent performance in all parameters of the evaluation metrics for both training and testing datasets. When evaluated on the testing datasets, it achieved an accuracy of 0.98, a sensitivity of 1 for detecting fertile eggs, and a specificity of 0.96 for identifying non-fertile eggs. The higher performance is attributed to its unique architecture, efficiently capturing features at different scales, which leads to improved accuracy and robustness. Further optimization and fine-tuning of the models might be necessary to address the limitations in accurately detecting fertile and non-fertile eggs using other models. Virtual-reality (VR) and augmented-reality (AR) technology is increasingly combined with eye-tracking. This combination broadens both fields and opens up new areas of application, in which visual perception and related cognitive processes can be studied in interactive but still well controlled settings. However, performing a semantic gaze analysis of eye-tracking data from interactive three-dimensional scenes is a resource-intense task, which so far has been an obstacle to economic use. In this paper we present a novel approach which minimizes time and information necessary to annotate volumes of interest (VOIs) by using techniques from object recognition. To do so, we train convolutional neural networks (CNNs) on synthetic data sets derived from virtual models using image augmentation techniques. Large-scale integration of electric vehicles (EVs) leads to a tighter integration between transportation and electric energy systems. In this paper, we develop a novel integer-clustering approach to model a large number of EVs that manages vehicle charging and energy at the fleet level yet maintain individual trip dispatch. The model is then used to develop a spatially and temporally-resolved decision-making tool for optimally planning and/or operating EV fleets and charging infrastructure. The tool comprises a two-stage framework where a tractable disaggregation step follows the integer-clustering problem to recover an individually feasible solution. Mathematical relationships between the integer clustering, disaggregation, and individual formulations are analyzed. We establish theoretical lower and upper bounds on the true individual formulation which underpins a guaranteed performance of the proposed method. The optimality accuracy and computational efficiency of the integer-clustering formulation are also numerically validated on a real-world case study of Boston's public transit network under extensive test instances. The spatial organization of the DNA in the cell nucleus plays an important role for gene regulation, DNA replication, and genomic integrity. Through the development of chromosome conformation capture experiments (such as 3C, 4C, Hi-C) it is now possible to obtain the contact frequencies of the DNA at the whole-genome level. In this paper, we study the problem of reconstructing the 3D organization of the genome from such whole-genome contact frequencies. A standard approach is to transform the contact frequencies into noisy distance measurements and then apply semidefinite programming (SDP) formulations to obtain the 3D configuration. However, neglected in such reconstructions is the fact that most eukaryotes including humans are diploid and therefore contain two copies of each genomic locus. We prove that the 3D organization of the DNA is not identifiable from distance measurements derived from contact frequencies in diploid organisms. In fact, there are infinitely many solutions even in the noise-free setting. We then discuss various additional biologically relevant and experimentally measurable constraints (including distances between neighboring genomic loci and higher-order interactions) and prove identifiability under these conditions. Furthermore, we provide SDP formulations for computing the 3D embedding of the DNA with these additional constraints and show that we can recover the true 3D embedding with high accuracy from both noiseless and noisy measurements. Finally, we apply our algorithm to real pairwise and higher-order contact frequency data and show that we can recover known genome organization patterns. © 2021, CC BY.

Accurate 3D multi-object tracking (MOT) is crucial for autonomous driving, as it enables robust perception, navigation, and planning in complex environments. While deep learning-based solutions have demonstrated impressive 3D MOT performance, model-based approaches remain appealing for their simplicity, interpretability, and data efficiency. Conventional model-based trackers typically rely on random vector-based Bayesian filters within the tracking-by-detection (TBD) framework but face limitations due to heuristic data association and track management schemes. In contrast, random finite set (RFS)-based Bayesian filtering handles object birth, survival, and death in a theoretically sound manner, facilitating interpretability and parameter tuning. In this paper, we present OptiPMB, a novel RFS-based 3D MOT method that employs an optimized Poisson multi-Bernoulli (PMB) filter while incorporating several key innovative designs within the TBD framework. Specifically, we propose a measurement-driven hybrid adaptive birth model for improved track initialization, employ adaptive detection probability parameters to effectively maintain tracks for occluded objects, and optimize density pruning and track extraction modules to further enhance overall tracking performance. Extensive evaluations on nuScenes and KITTI datasets show that OptiPMB achieves superior tracking accuracy compared with state-of-the-art methods, thereby establishing a new benchmark for model-based 3D MOT and offering valuable insights for future research on RFS-based trackers in autonomous driving. Ensemble learning for artificial neural networks (ANNs) is an effective method to enhance predictive performance. However, ANNs are computationally and memory intensive, and naively training multiple networks can lead to excessive training times and costs. An effective tool for improving ensemble efficiency is introducing topological sparsity. Even though several implementations of efficient ensembles have been proposed, none of them can provide actual benefits in terms of computational overhead as the sparsity is simulated using binary masks. In this paper, we address this issue by introducing a Truly Sparse Ensemble without binary masks and directly incorporate native sparsity. We also propose two algorithms for initializing new subnetworks within the ensemble, leveraging this native topological sparsity to enhance subnetwork diversity. We demonstrate the performance of the resulting models at high levels of sparsity on several datasets in terms of classification accuracy, floating point operations (FLOPs), and actual running time. The proposed methods outperform all baseline dense and truly sparse models on tabular data, successfully diversify the training trajectory of the subnetworks, and increase the topological distance between subnetworks after re-initialization. © The Author(s) 2025.

The revolutionary expansion in processing and storing mechanisms through the internet has given rise to affordable and powerful computing features. These qualities have been enhanced as a result of this growth. Computing in the cloud is an emerging technology that provides users with the ability to access data storage facilities as well as application access facilities in an online setting. This approach presents an almost infinite number of chances and difficulties. In light of this, ensuring the safety of one’s data and preventing the accumulation of duplicate or otherwise identical information in the cloud are both highly critical concerns that must be handled. As a result, a method known as deduplication was created to cut down on the amount of data in the identical storage system. In this investigation, a unique approach for removing repetitive or duplicate data from cloud servers, which will also help reduce the amount of internet access and storage space needed, has been presented. The results of the experiments show that the suggested system not only offers a higher level of protection for the data that is stored in stored in the cloud but also addresses the primary issues of rent systems.

With the rapid development of e-Commerce and takeaway platforms, retailers have gradually developed multi-channel operations. However, limited empirical studies explored the effects of an online channel offered by takeaway platforms on the store performance. Does an online channel addition have a synergy effect or a cannibalization effect on store performance? We empirically investigate these effects by analyzing a large dataset including diverse samples collected from multiple retailers across various regions. The dataset includes 2115 stores across 25 retailers for 10 months that includes two types of retail formats and covers 16 provinces and 21 cities of China. We study the impacts of the newly introduced online channel on the incumbent offline channel and the overall store *** empirical results reveal that the online channel addition mainly has a synergy effect. Specifically,for the overall store, it has a positive effect on the sales and product variety, whereas it has a negative effect on the basket size. Surprisingly, an online channel addition also has a positive effect on the offline sales. Our study adds novel values to multi-channel retailing literature by empirically researching the cannibalization and synergy effect of a new type of online channel, offered by takeaway platforms. It can provide insights for retail enterprises who are interested in introducing O2 O model.
