Early-stage stroke prediction based on Parkinson and wrinkles using deep learning

The application of noninvasive methods to enhance healthcare systems has been facilitated by the development of new technology. Among the four major cardiovascular diseases, stroke is one of the deadliest and potentially fatal, but, if detected early enough, a patient's life may be spared. Most stroke research has centered on MRI and CT scans for uncomplicated categorization. This medical approach (imaging) is costly, time-consuming and needs the utilization of complex technology. To make up for these shortcomings, however, there has been a lot of interest in adopting noninvasive, measurable EEGs. Nevertheless, the raw data should be classified before the proper characteristics can be formed, both the forecasting algorithms and the analytical techniques demand time. As a result, this work proposes a deep learning-based model that aims to predict the chance of stroke at an early stage utilizing Parkinson's disease and wrinkles as markers. A patient may have a stroke disease if they are diagnosed with both Parkinson's disease and wrinkles. To the best of our knowledge, this research is the first to use these biomarkers to predict the risk of having a stroke. The proposed model achieves a higher accuracy of 94.7% on the considered dataset. Additionally, the recommended model was evaluated and tested in terms of loss, training time, accuracy, recall, and F1-score versus the other existing models. With less price and pain than present testing approaches, these discoveries are predicted to result in major enhancements in the early detection of strokes. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Coronavirus belongs to the family of Coronaviridae. It is responsible for COVID-19 communicable disease, which has affected 213 countries and territories worldwide. Researchers in computational fields have been active in proposing techniques to filter the information and recommendations about this disease and provide surveillance in controlling this outbreak. Researchers used Chest X-ray images, abdominal Computed Tomography scans, and Tweet datasets for building machine learning and deep learning-based models for COVID-19 predictions and forecasting purposes. Accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and F1-measure are the five primary evaluation criteria researchers employ to evaluate the quality of their study. This article summarises research works on COVID-19 based on machine learning and deep learning models. Implementation of ANN and response surface method for dual-fuel CI engine optimization and prediction using water infusion and biofuel

In this study, tests were done to see what would happen if hydrogen (H2) and lemon grass oil (LO) were used for a lone-cylinder compression ignition engine as a partial diesel replacement. After starting the trial with pure diesel, the engine was modified to run on two fuels by adding H2 through the inlet pipe and LO as direct injection (DI) gasoline. In this study, the energy fraction of H2 ranged from 5 to 10%. A 3% volume mixture of water (W) and diesel-LO mixtures was used to study how NOX emissions were affected. Using a common back- transmission method, an Artificial Neural Network model was created to forecast the correlation between engine output reactions and input variables (load, LO, and H2). The goal of response surface methodology is for improve the motor input settings for low pollution and high heat efficiency. The trials were designed using response surface methodology (RSM), and the optimization procedure was conducted using RSM. An artificial neural network (ANN) was used to predict the test engine’s emission patterns and performance. The results showed that ANN and RSM were both very good and accurate modeling strategies. When 10% H2 + LO25 was used, the BTE rose to 31%, up from 20% for clean LO and 28% for 12% H2 + LO25 + 2%W means. Compared to clean LO operation, the cylinder pressure raised in 15% H2 mode by up to 63 psi. The measured value for the HRR, under H2 premixed combustion framework was 81 k Joule/CA deg in 10% H2, that is significantly greater than the value for every LO processes. The highest NOX release for 10% H2 + LO 25% was discovered at 690 ppm peak load, while it dropped to 645 ppm in gasoline that had been emulsified in water. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Social media platforms offer a plethora of valuable resources in times of disaster. Social media platforms like Twitter allow the sharing of information by individuals in the time of crisis. In this study, highlights difficulty in differentiating between situation related tweets and are intend to investigate the belongingness of tweets that are related to the disaster or not related to the disaster. This work proposes an exploration of n-gram-based feature extraction in the form of unigram, bigram, and trigram. Further combinations of unigram, bigram and trigram have been taken with cut-off value 50%. To intensify performance, the two-step ensemble stacking method is implemented to categorize tweets by enhancing the diversity among the base learners and utilizing the meta-learner to merge the predictions made by base learners. To verify the approach, experimentation done with ensemble method and then compared with linear and non-linear machine learning algorithms. The obtained result shows stacking ensemble method with decision tree as meta learner gives the best results. The findings of the study revealed that our proposed method demonstrates a robust solution to help identify disaster related tweets during a disaster and empower individuals, groups, and organizations to improve communication during emergencies. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Low-light image enhancement using the illumination boost algorithm along with the SKWGIF method

Low-light image enhancement is highly desirable for outdoor image processing and computer vision applications. Research conducted in recent years has shown that images taken in low-light conditions often pose two main problems, the first of which is low visibility (i.e., small pixel intensities). Secondly, due to the low signal-to-noise ratio, noise also becomes prominent and obscures the image content. For this reason, images with low noise are usually employed in this application, a practice not possible in the real world. In this regard, a hybrid method is proposed which is based on the illumination boost algorithm (IBA) and weighted guided image filtering with steering kernel (SKWGIF). IBA is used to raise the values of low and medium intensity pixels while preventing excessive increases in high-value pixels. SKWGIF is employed to denoise and augment image details by adjusting its parameters based on the output of the previous step. The proposed method utilizes the LOL v1, LOL v2 and ExDark datasets Our hybrid method’s comprehensive approach to low-light image enhancement produced better outcomes than previous methods. Quantitative results have shown that the proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) models on the LOL v1 dataset, achieving a PSNR value of 18.80. Through the successful resolution of visibility and noise reduction issues, our approach led to notable gains in image quality measures, including SSIM, PSNR, BRISQUE, and NIQE. IBA’s ability to selectively boost intensity improved image visibility without producing overexposure artifacts, and SKWGIF effectively reduced noise while enhancing image details. The combined effect produced improved image quality that was superior to that of single techniques or already-used hybrid approaches. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In blockchain networks, transactions can be transmitted through channels. The existing transmission methods depend on their routing information. If a node randomly chooses a channel to transmit a transaction, the transmission may be aborted due to insufficient funds(also called balance) or a low transmission rate. To increase the success rate and reduce transmission delay across all transactions, this work proposes a transaction transmission model for blockchain channels based on non-cooperative game *** balance, channel states, and transmission probability are fully considered. This work then presents an optimized channel transaction transmission algorithm. First, channel balances are analyzed and suitable channels are selected if their balance is sufficient. Second, a Nash equilibrium point is found by using an iterative sub-gradient method and its related channels are then used to transmit transactions. The proposed method is compared with two state-of-the-art approaches: Silent Whispers and Speedy Murmurs. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves transmission success rate, reduces transmission delay,and effectively decreases transmission overhead in comparison with its two competitive peers.

Online advertising fraud is an emerging issue and has drawn researchers’ mind recently because it now poses a significant danger to an online advertising sector. A content publisher signs an agreement to place advertisements on various websites in exchange for commissions on the basis of the amount of traffic these advertisements generate. It may sometimes motivate fraudulent publishers to produce unauthorized clicks on their websites in order to maximize traffic to the advertisements, a practice known as click fraud. Although click fraud is identified as a huge issue, there are not many algorithms that have been able to effectively solve this problem. Our aim in this paper is to overcome the problem of click fraud and come up with an explicit model for the click fraud detection. In this paper, a model is proposed using recursive feature elimination (RFE) and ensemble classifier with Hellinger distance-based decision tree (HDDT). The proposed model is evaluated over the dataset hosted by a Chinese company TalkingData available freely from Kaggle and has resulted in an accuracy of 99.72% as compared to the traditional decision tree. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In the present time, social networks have become a quintessential part of people's lives, by transforming how people connect and communicate. Social networks have become an important medium for information diffusion and social interactions. The rate of diffusion often depends upon network topology, influencing power of the initial adopters and the underlying node activation criteria. Most real-world social networks are weighted in nature, with edge weights representing the tie strength between the two connected nodes. In our research, we explore and analyze the performance of popular diffusion models in weighted social networks. The performance of 4 prevalent diffusion models, namely - Independent Cascade, Weighted Cascade, Trivalency and Linear Threshold, is compared with regards to the attained spread of information. The study was performed on 2 real-world weighted social networks. © 2024 IEEE.

HandRT: Simultaneous Hand Shape and Appearance Reconstruction with Pose Tracking from Monocular RGB-D Video

We propose a method to reconstruct a personalized hand avatar, representing the user's hand shape and appearance, from a monocular RGB-D video of a hand performing unknown hand poses under unknown illumination. Our method, HandRT, jointly optimizes hand pose, shape, appearance, and lighting parameters using a physically-based shading model in a differentiable rendering framework incorporating Monte Carlo path tracing. HandRT extends our previous work, Intrinsic Hand Avatar, by relaxing the assumption of a known coarse hand pose and utilizing depth data in the optimization. Specifically, we introduce an articulated registration energy based on iterative closest point over the depth point cloud that enables reconstruction from unknown hand poses via tracking across frames. Thus, we can reconstruct the avatar from arbitrary poses with high accuracy without relying on an off-the-shelf 2D joint detector at each frame. Further, HandRT is capable of precisely tracking the reconstructed avatar from either RGB or RGB-D input. Our evaluation demonstrates that our method outperforms existing hand avatar reconstruction methods on all commonly used metrics while producing significantly accurate mesh compared to state-of-the-art hand mesh recovery methods by a large margin on public and our captured datasets.
