Human beings are often affected by a wide range of skin diseases,which can be attributed to genetic factors and environmental influences,such as exposure to sunshine with ultraviolet(UV)*** left untreated,these diseases can have severe consequences and spread,especially among *** detection is crucial to prevent their spread and improve a patient’s chances of ***,the branch of medicine dealing with skin diseases,faces challenges in accurately diagnosing these conditions due to the difficulty in identifying and distinguishing between different diseases based on their appearance,type of skin,and *** study presents a method for detecting skin diseases using Deep Learning(DL),focusing on the most common diseases affecting children in Saudi Arabia due to the high UV value in most of the year,especially in the *** method utilizes various Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)architectures to classify skin conditions such as eczema,psoriasis,and *** proposed method demonstrates high accuracy rates of 99.99%and 97%using famous and effective transfer learning models MobileNet and DenseNet121,*** illustrates the potential of DL in automating the detection of skin diseases and offers a promising approach for early diagnosis and treatment.

Ovarian cancer is a global health concern due to the unavailability of an effective screening strategy and is often diagnosed at a late stage with approximately 70% of the case which reduces the survival chances of patients. Initial diagnosis is challenging due to inconspicuous symptoms in its initial stages which complicate its timely diagnosis. Regular screenings, such as pelvic exams, ultrasounds, and blood tests targeting specific biomarkers can be helpful for early diagnosis. In addition, the use of machine learning models can help automate this process thereby assisting medical experts for accurate diagnosis. This study aims at timely and accurate detection of ovarian cancer using a transfer learning approach that uses the MobileNet model. Moreover, the Chi-square technique is used to extract the most impactful features for better accuracy. For experiments, the Soochow University ovarian cancer dataset is employed. Extensive experiments are performed using all features from the dataset, as well as, using Chi-square-based selective features. The best accuracy of 90.88% is achieved with the Xception model when all features are used. Experimental results show a substantial increase when selective features are used indicating a 98.49% accuracy using the MobileNet model with 20 most important features. In addition, precision, recall, and F1 scores of 99.13%, 99.27%, and 99.20% are obtained showing the model’s robustness and generalization. This study also employs Shapley additive explanations to explain the importance of various features toward the model’s output thereby providing transparency for the model’s decision-making process. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Machine Learning Research often involves the use of diverse libraries, modules, and pseudocodes for data processing, cleaning, filtering, pattern recognition, and computer intelligence. Quantization of Effort Required for the above cumulative processes is rarely discussed in the existing works and The time to reach the desired level of the model's functionality is essential to gauge the environment training for the model training and pre-deployment testing. In this study, we empirically defined the manual-cum-computational effort required for the model development in terms of 2-time factors: time-to-live (time until 1st code modification) and time-for-modification (time between 2 codebase changes) taken together in a mathematical model to compute Effort Factor(quantitative measure of determining effort needed to design ML algorithms). The study is novel in terms of how the effort required to create ML models is calculated with a particular focus on the manual effort direction. The results and the findings obtained can be used for determining the total time needed to synthesize ML models and frameworks in terms of code change cycles and implementation strategies marking a 25% performance increase in the current method above the Standard Pipeline. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

In today’s fiercely competitive business environment, product design and development play critical roles in an enterprise’s success;therefore, consumer demand must be understood. Enterprises used to understand their consumers’ demands through time-consuming questionnaire surveys and statistical analyses. As the Internet and the popularity of virtual communities have grown, more consumers are leaving comments about their perceptions of the appeal of products on online social media platforms, thus enabling enterprises to more objectively understand consumers’ product preferences and demands. Therefore, determining how to effectively assist enterprises in analyzing valuable information beneficial to product design and development that can be gleaned from the large amount of social media data available is critical to promoting an enterprise’s competitive advantage in the product market. However, previous studies have primarily focused on understanding consumer viewpoints of products through review articles or electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM;it is a common channel for spreading product appraisals) from online social media. For these review articles and eWOM that can imply consumer demand for product features, there were no relevant studies focused on analyzing consumer demand by using both online review articles and eWOM for product feature evolution. Therefore, for new product features, this study developed a mechanism for product evolution course mining from product-related review articles (such as product functions or specifications) and eWOM on online social media to realize the prediction of future product features or specifications, and then assist enterprises in rapidly and accurately grasping product development trends to effectively discern key reference information for product design and development. Child safety and well-being in daycare settings are important, thus it is vital that the persons in charge be attentive to them. This research tries to solve the problem by introducing a smart and detailed monitoring system that utilizes new technology to enhance safety and support caretakers. The system has various innovative features, such as child missing detection, behavior and facial expression analysis, cry analysis and categorization, and fall detection. Using high-resolution cameras and on-device Edge AI capabilities, it ensures real-time surveillance of children's activities while protecting privacy. The approach integrates behavior and facial expression analysis to assess emotional states, cry recognition to discover childcare needs, as well as a useful fall detection system that can tell the difference between falls and other movements. All these parts synergize to hand over the necessary information to the caregivers on time and in a way that they can act upon. The quantitative experiments in real-time childcare centers show high accuracy through all the components, attesting to the system's reliability and durability. This research has important significance in improving the safety and the frequency response in daycare centers because it gives caregivers automated tools to quickly address the needs of children. While promising, the system has drawbacks, such as potential biases in data models and a reliance on ideal environmental circumstances. Future work intends to improve flexibility across varied daycare situations, improve accuracy through larger datasets, and investigate ethical frameworks for wider application. © 2024 IEEE.

Thyroid disorders represent a significant global health challenge with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism as two common conditions arising from dysfunction in the thyroid *** and timely diagnosis of these disorders is crucial for effective treatment and patient *** research introduces a comprehensive approach to improve the accuracy of thyroid disorder diagnosis through the integration of ensemble stacking and advanced feature selection *** forward feature selection,sequential backward feature elimination,and bidirectional feature elimination are investigated in this *** ensemble learning,random forest,adaptive boosting,and bagging classifiers are *** effectiveness of these techniques is evaluated using two different datasets obtained from the University of California Irvine-Machine Learning Repository,both of which undergo preprocessing steps,including outlier removal,addressing missing data,data cleansing,and feature *** experimentation demonstrates the remarkable success of proposed ensemble stacking and bidirectional feature elimination achieving 100%and 99.86%accuracy in identifying hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism,*** enhancing detection accuracy,the ensemble stacking model also demonstrated a streamlined computational complexity which is pivotal for practical medical *** significantly outperformed existing studies with similar objectives underscoring the viability and effectiveness of the proposed *** research offers an innovative perspective and sets the platform for improved thyroid disorder diagnosis with broader implications for healthcare and patient well-being.

Applications based on Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)have shown to be quite useful in monitoring a particular geographic area of *** geometries of the surrounding environment are essential to establish a successful WSN *** it is literally hard because constructing a localization algorithm that tracks the exact location of Sensor Nodes(SN)in a WSN is always a challenging *** this research paper,Distance Matrix and Markov Chain(DM-MC)model is presented as node localization technique in which Distance Matrix and Estimation Matrix are used to identify the position of the *** method further employs a Markov Chain Model(MCM)for energy optimization and interference *** are performed against two well-known models,and the results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm improves performance by using less network resources when compared to the existing *** probability is used in the Markova chain to sustain higher energy ***,the proposed Distance Matrix and Markov Chain model decrease energy use by 31%and 25%,respectively,compared to the existing DV-Hop and CSA *** experimental results were performed against two proven models,Distance VectorHop Algorithm(DV-HopA)and Crow Search Algorithm(CSA),showing that the proposed DM-MC model outperforms both the existing models regarding localization accuracy and Energy Consumption(EC).These results add to the credibility of the proposed DC-MC model as a better model for employing node localization while establishing a WSN framework.
