Disaster management is one of the areas of paramount importance for any government or organization. This process gets very tedious and tricky for some specific type of disasters. Deploying manpower for mitigating the disaster and saving the victims is a risky decision because the life of the people in the disaster management team is put to risk, which is a very unfortunate thing. So instead of using manpower, we can deploy intelligent machine agents, which are equivalent or sometimes more efficient than human beings for such highly risky tasks and avert the loss of lives. In our case, we have specifically considered the disaster wherein fire breaks out in a building and people get trapped inside due to the dangerous situation. In this case, where deploying manpower to rescue them requires a high quality protective gear and can even put their lives on risk, we have proposed to deploy intelligent machine agents that are trained to figure out the path on their own and find their way to the victims after which a rescue operation can be performed by safely escorting the victims to a nearby exit in the building. The agent in the proposed application has been evaluated by the metrics such as the time taken to reach the victims and come back to the exit, the total rewards gathered by the agent during its exploration in the environment and the number of correct decisions it made during its journey. The agent takes an average time of 145.6 seconds to complete its operation in the real-time environment. It gathered an average peak cumulative reward value of -0.2 in the real time environment. The agent on an average, records 67.3% chance of making a correct decision (that gets a positive reward) given a state vector. © 2023 IEEE.

The nonlinear transformation used in reservoir computing can be effectively replaced by nonlinear vector autoregression (NVAR) for data prediction. In such a method, also known as next generation reservoir computing (NGRC), the input signal consists of a linear part, including several previous data points, and their nonlinear combinations. Here we show that the application of this method to a network with memristive weights (memristors) can be used to predict signals, depending on the nature of the nonlinear functions and the number of memristors. The network allows an accurate prediction of chaotic time series of Mackey-Glass and Duffing oscillators. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper describes a system that uses generative adversarial networks (GANs) to eliminate gaussian noise from CCTV of footages. Unwanted noise like gaussian noise frequently degrades the quality of images and makes them more difficult to interpret. In our approach, a discriminator network is used to direct the training of a generator network, whose job it is to produce denoised images from noisy inputs. This framework includes operations like picture enhancement, noise reduction, and evaluation with metrics like the structural similarity index (SSIM) and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). The resultant denoised images show enhanced visual quality and have potential uses in image analysis and computer vision. © 2024 IEEE.

WSNs are applied in many disciplines where certain conditions require the ability to adapt to network sink mobility and changes in the dynamics of the area coverage. To meet these needs, it is necessary to develop integrated systems where the ''terrestrial' systems and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)' collect data from sensors efficiently. Planning of UAV trajectories is another challenging issue if many WSN nodes are randomly deployed. This challenge has a big impact on the overall effectiveness of the system. This paper presents a novel approach for reducing the traveled distance of unscrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) to improve the data collection efficiency in WSNs with poor node density. Urban heat islands raise surface temperatures, which has an effect on city dwellers’ health and welfare. Urbanisation-related changes to the land surface, which are especially notable right after sunset, have an impact on radiative forcing. Recently, there has been a surge in the usage of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, particularly for precision agriculture and plant phenotyping. This is due to the declining cost and increased accessibility of both UAVs and thermal imaging sensors. This interruption affects subsequent operations like target item categorisation and water quality parameter inversion. The goal of this study was to evaluate the potential for combining machine learning (ML) with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)–based imaging technology. In this research, the novel technique in UAV image–based temperature pattern detection of various regions of earth and their sea level rise analysis using image classification by machine learning model. Here, the input is collected as UAV images which have been processed for noise removal and normalisation. These image features have been extracted using convolutional active contour–based kernel component analysis and classified using region-based fuzzy stacked lasso elastic-net model. The classified output shows temperature analysis with sea level rise based on image analysis. The experimental analysis has been carried out for various UAV image dataset in terms of detection accuracy, RMSE, F-measure, mean average precision (MAP), and recall. Proposed technique F-measure of 89%, detection accuracy of 96%, MAP of 94%, recall of 92%, and RMSE of 60%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Adoption of cognitive computing decision support system in the assessment of health-care policymaking

Purpose: Despite technological advancements to enhance patient health, the risks of not discovering the correct interactions and trends in digital health are high. Hence, a careful policy is required for health coverage tailored to needs and capacity. Therefore, this study aims to explore the adoption of a cognitive computing decision support system (CCDSS) in the assessment of health-care policymaking and validates it by extending the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was conducted to collect data from different stakeholders, referred to as the 4Ps, namely, patients, providers, payors and policymakers. Structural equation modelling and one-way ANOVA were used to analyse the data. Findings: The result reveals that the behavioural insight of policymakers towards the assessment of health-care policymaking is based on automatic and reflective systems. Investments in CCDSS for policymaking assessment have the potential to produce rational outcomes. CCDSS, built with quality procedures, can validate whether breastfeeding-supporting policies are mother-friendly. Research limitations/implications: Health-care policies are used by lawmakers to safeguard and improve public health, but it has always been a challenge. With the adoption of CCDSS, the overall goal of health-care policymaking can achieve better quality standards and improve the design of policymaking. Originality/value: This study drew attention to how CCDSS as a technology enabler can drive health-care policymaking assessment for each stage and how the technology enabler can help the 4Ps of health-care gain insight into the benefits and potential value of CCDSS by demonstrating the breastfeeding supporting policy. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

The rapid population growth results in a crucial problem in the early detection of diseases inmedical *** all the cancers unveiled,breast cancer is considered the second most severe ***,an exponential rising in death cases incurred by breast cancer is expected due to the rapid population growth and the lack of resources required for performing medical *** recent advances in machine learning could help medical staff in diagnosing diseases as they offer effective,reliable,and rapid responses,which could help in decreasing the death *** this paper,we propose a new algorithm for feature selection based on a hybrid between powerful and recently emerged optimizers,namely,guided whale and dipper throated *** proposed algorithm is evaluated using four publicly available breast cancer *** evaluation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach from the accuracy and speed *** prove the superiority of the proposed algorithm,a set of competing feature selection algorithms were incorporated into the conducted *** addition,a group of statistical analysis experiments was conducted to emphasize the superiority and stability of the proposed *** best-achieved breast cancer prediction average accuracy based on the proposed algorithm is 99.453%.This result is achieved in an average time of 3.6725 s,the best result among all the competing approaches utilized in the experiments.

This paper presents a novel approach for accurate web traffic prediction on the websites using a Wavelet-Based Hybrid Ensemble Forecasting method. The proposed method decomposes the web traffic time series into time-shifted discrete wavelets, enabling individual forecasting on each decomposed series. Four models - SARIMA, ARIMA, LSTM, and KNN - were evaluated, and their forecasts were combined in a hybrid ensemble model. Evaluation metrics such as accuracy percentage, MAE, RMSE, and MAPE were employed. The hybrid model exhibited superior performance, achieving an accuracy of 99.39%, along with the lowest MAE and RMSE values. Combining forecasts from multiple models significantly improved accuracy and reduced error rates in web traffic prediction. © 2024 IEEE.
