Intrusion attempts against Internet of Things(IoT)devices have significantly increased in the last few *** devices are now easy targets for hackers because of their built-in security *** a Self-Organizing Map(SOM)hybrid anomaly detection system for dimensionality reduction with the inherited nature of clustering and Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost)for multi-class classification can improve network traffic intrusion *** proposed model is evaluated on the NSL-KDD *** hybrid approach outperforms the baseline line models,Multilayer perceptron model,and SOM-KNN(k-nearest neighbors)model in precision,recall,and F1-score,highlighting the proposed approach’s scalability,potential,adaptability,and real-world ***,this paper proposes a highly efficient deployment strategy for resource-constrained network *** results reveal that Precision,Recall,and F1-scores rise 10%-30% for the benign,probing,and Denial of Service(DoS)*** particular,the DoS,probe,and benign classes improved their F1-scores by 7.91%,32.62%,and 12.45%,respectively.

This research concentrates on author profiling using transfer learning models for classifying age and gender. The investigation encompassed a diverse set of transfer learning techniques, including Roberta, BERT, ALBERT, Distil BERT, Distil Roberta, ELECTRA, and XLNet. Through meticulous evaluation using metrics such as the Matthews Correlation Coefficient, Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1 Score, the study examined the efficacy of these models. The curated dataset was divided for gender and age tasks, resulting in robust gender prediction with the XLNet model and age prediction with the BERT model. Notably, the XLNet model achieved the highest MCC (0.7946), Accuracy (0.8957), Precision (0.8992), Recall (0.8957), and F1 Score (0.8958) values in gender classification, while the BERT model excelled in age prediction with an MCC of (0.7338), Accuracy of (0.8220), Precision of (0.8324), Recall of (0.8220), and F1 Score of (0.8243). Visualized outcomes provide valuable insights into the model’s performance nuances, paving the way for their practical implementation. Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a progressive neurological disorder marked by cognitive decline, memory loss, and impaired reasoning, affecting millions globally. Early and accurate diagnosis of AD is crucial for managing the disease, yet traditional diagnostic methods such as clinical assessments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) face significant challenges. This research proposes a novel approach to enhance the diagnostic process by using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to improve brain MRI image quality, thereby aiding automated detection of AD. It involves preprocessing brain MRI scans, designing a GAN for image enhancement, and utilizing these enhanced images in a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for detecting AD. The effectiveness of method is evaluated using key metrics such as accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, comparing its performance to baseline methods using non-enhanced images. Cross-validation and testing with external datasets are conducted to ensure the model's robustness and generalizability. The integrated GAN-CNN framework demonstrated a remarkable accuracy of 99.9 % in predicting AD using MRI images from the OASIS dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology into railway track monitoring systems marks a pivotal advancement in ensuring the safety and efficiency of railway operations. Through strategic deployment of sensors along the tracks, this innovative system offers real-time detection of obstacles, furnishing vital data for timely intervention to avert potential accidents. This capability not only elevates passenger and crew safety but also bolsters the reliability of railway transportation systems as a whole. The system constantly scans the track ahead of the train for any anomalies using sensors positioned toward the front of the vehicle. The system immediately notifies the application faults it detects, enabling prompt action. Additionally, it updates the status of an IoT platform and displays it for personnel on board via an LCD panel. An audio alarm is generated in the event of critical sensor readings to ensure prompt attention. By lowering potential risks and responding quickly to track problems, This IoT-based solution holds the promise of revolutionizing railway operations by furnishing augmented safety, efficiency, and reliability, thereby addressing the burgeoning demands of contemporary transportation infrastructure. © 2024 IEEE.

The recent advancements in vision technology have had a significant impact on our ability to identify multiple objects and understand complex *** technologies,such as augmented reality-driven scene integration,robotic navigation,autonomous driving,and guided tour systems,heavily rely on this type of scene *** paper presents a novel segmentation approach based on the UNet network model,aimed at recognizing multiple objects within an *** methodology begins with the acquisition and preprocessing of the image,followed by segmentation using the fine-tuned UNet ***,we use an annotation tool to accurately label the segmented *** labeling,significant features are extracted from these segmented objects,encompassing KAZE(Accelerated Segmentation and Extraction)features,energy-based edge detection,frequency-based,and blob *** the classification stage,a convolution neural network(CNN)is *** comprehensive methodology demonstrates a robust framework for achieving accurate and efficient recognition of multiple objects in *** experimental results,which include complex object datasets like MSRC-v2 and PASCAL-VOC12,have been *** analyzing the experimental results,it was found that the PASCAL-VOC12 dataset achieved an accuracy rate of 95%,while the MSRC-v2 dataset achieved an accuracy of 89%.The evaluation performed on these diverse datasets highlights a notably impressive level of performance.

Human beings are often affected by a wide range of skin diseases,which can be attributed to genetic factors and environmental influences,such as exposure to sunshine with ultraviolet(UV)*** left untreated,these diseases can have severe consequences and spread,especially among *** detection is crucial to prevent their spread and improve a patient’s chances of ***,the branch of medicine dealing with skin diseases,faces challenges in accurately diagnosing these conditions due to the difficulty in identifying and distinguishing between different diseases based on their appearance,type of skin,and *** study presents a method for detecting skin diseases using Deep Learning(DL),focusing on the most common diseases affecting children in Saudi Arabia due to the high UV value in most of the year,especially in the *** method utilizes various Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)architectures to classify skin conditions such as eczema,psoriasis,and *** proposed method demonstrates high accuracy rates of 99.99%and 97%using famous and effective transfer learning models MobileNet and DenseNet121,*** illustrates the potential of DL in automating the detection of skin diseases and offers a promising approach for early diagnosis and treatment.

Ovarian cancer is a global health concern due to the unavailability of an effective screening strategy and is often diagnosed at a late stage with approximately 70% of the case which reduces the survival chances of patients. Initial diagnosis is challenging due to inconspicuous symptoms in its initial stages which complicate its timely diagnosis. Regular screenings, such as pelvic exams, ultrasounds, and blood tests targeting specific biomarkers can be helpful for early diagnosis. In addition, the use of machine learning models can help automate this process thereby assisting medical experts for accurate diagnosis. This study aims at timely and accurate detection of ovarian cancer using a transfer learning approach that uses the MobileNet model. Moreover, the Chi-square technique is used to extract the most impactful features for better accuracy. For experiments, the Soochow University ovarian cancer dataset is employed. Extensive experiments are performed using all features from the dataset, as well as, using Chi-square-based selective features. The best accuracy of 90.88% is achieved with the Xception model when all features are used. Experimental results show a substantial increase when selective features are used indicating a 98.49% accuracy using the MobileNet model with 20 most important features. In addition, precision, recall, and F1 scores of 99.13%, 99.27%, and 99.20% are obtained showing the model’s robustness and generalization. This study also employs Shapley additive explanations to explain the importance of various features toward the model’s output thereby providing transparency for the model’s decision-making process. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Machine Learning Research often involves the use of diverse libraries, modules, and pseudocodes for data processing, cleaning, filtering, pattern recognition, and computer intelligence. Quantization of Effort Required for the above cumulative processes is rarely discussed in the existing works and The time to reach the desired level of the model's functionality is essential to gauge the environment training for the model training and pre-deployment testing. In this study, we empirically defined the manual-cum-computational effort required for the model development in terms of 2-time factors: time-to-live (time until 1st code modification) and time-for-modification (time between 2 codebase changes) taken together in a mathematical model to compute Effort Factor(quantitative measure of determining effort needed to design ML algorithms). The study is novel in terms of how the effort required to create ML models is calculated with a particular focus on the manual effort direction. The results and the findings obtained can be used for determining the total time needed to synthesize ML models and frameworks in terms of code change cycles and implementation strategies marking a 25% performance increase in the current method above the Standard Pipeline. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
