This paper is concerned with the robust H infin filtering problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear networked systems with both multiple stochastic time-varying communication delays and multiple packet dropouts. The discrete-time system under consideration is also subject to parameter uncertainties, state-dependent stochastic disturbances and sector-bounded nonlinearities. Sufficient conditions are derived for a linear full-order filter such that the estimation error converges to zero exponentially in the mean square while the disturbance rejection attenuation is constrained to a give level by means of the H infin performance index. The explicit expression is then given for the desired filter parameters. A numerical example is exploited to show the usefulness of the results derived.

This paper is concerned with the variance-constrained controller design problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear stochastic systems with possible actuator faults. The stochastic nonlinearities described by statistical means are quite general that include several well-studied classes of nonlinearities as special cases. A model of actuator failures is adopted which is more practical than the traditional outage one. A linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach is proposed to solve the multiobjective fault-tolerant controller design problem, where both the exponential stability and the steady-state state variance indices are simultaneously guaranteed. Within the developed LMI framework, a sufficient condition for the solvability of the robust control problem is obtained. The explicit expression of the desired controllers is also parameterized and a single degree-of-freedom (SDOF) model is used to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed design approach.

Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) enable businesses to flexibly address their current and future needs in an agile manner. This is achieved by organizing their software assets as interoperable services, which can be flexibly, cost-effectively and timely combined to form business processes according to business requirements. A SOA approach however can also benefit Virtual Organizations (VOs), by enabling participant companies to increase their responsiveness and adaptability with regards to addressing a collaborative business opportunity. Value can also be added to the operations of such a VO with the use of Web2.0 concepts, as well as Intelligent Agents to automate the processes of finding collaborating partners and negotiating the creation of VOs, based on user-defined business rules. This paper discusses the combination of concepts and their potential benefits for Virtual Organizations, based on the ongoing work of a European Union co-funded information Society Technologies (IST) project. Although at the time of writing of this paper the practical benefits of this approach are still in the evaluation phase, this paper discusses the main ideas and the expected contributions of such an approach.

In this paper we describe a design and implementation of an on-line scheduling algorithm for controller area network (CAN) messages that exploits properties of genetic algorithms (GA) to achieve global message throughput optimization. The use of GA-based scheduler has been found effective even in time-critical distributed controlsystems, such as the considered control system that encompasses several control subsystems at the fire fighting vehicle. The experimental results show that the GA-optimized CAN message scheduler considerably decreased the average message queuing time.

Artificial music composition is one of the ever rising problems of computer science. Genetic Algorithm has been one of the most useful means in our hands to solve optimization problems. By use of precise assumptions and adequate fitness function it is possible to change the music composing into an optimization problem. This paper proposes a new genetic algorithm for composing music. Considering entropy of the notes distribution as a factor of fitness function and developing mutation and crossover functions based on harmonic rules and trying to keep the melodies intact during these processes would result in a musical piece pleasant to human ears and interesting for human mind. This algorithm does not have the constraints of the previous algorithms. Restraining mutation and crossover functions with a goal of producing melodies based on acceptable melodies composed by humans, this algorithm is not bound to any genre, instrument or melody. The experimental results of this approach show that it is near to the human composing and the results produced from it are more acceptable than the ones produced by its predecessors.

An approach to development of fine-grain parallel algorithm of artificial neural network training using parallelization of computational operations of each elementary neuron is presented in this paper. A training algorithm of back error propagation is described and parallel section of the algorithm is developed. In this work we realized the method multistage mixing of speech signals and conducted the series of computational experiments at wav-files. As a result of experiments we received dependences time of mixing speech signals, which are contained in wav-files, from amount wav-files and their descriptions. We formed requirements to the speech signals, that mixed accordant with the method of multistage mixing, which allow decreasing time of mixing of speech signals.
