A High Speed Autofocusing system for Micro system Applications

In this paper,we present a high speed autofocus system for micro system applications and design a look-up-table based autofocusing algorithm for applications when a target object is always visible,e.g.,manufacturing parts with alignment *** perform an evaluation of 24 focus measures to verify that which focus measure is the best for the look-up-table based *** the evaluation,we find that the Chebyshev moments-based focus measure（CHEB） is the most ***,we also develop a look-up-table based autofocus system that uses CHEB as the focus *** training phase,we offline construct a table from training images of an object that are captured at several lens *** entry of table consists of focus measure computed from image and lens *** working phase,given an input image,the algorithm first computes the focus measure and then finds the best match focus measure from the table and looks up the corresponding lens position for moving it into the in-focus *** algorithm can perform autofocusing within only 2 steps of lens *** experiment shows that the system can perform high speed autofocusing of micro objects.

Robot Vision system for Coordinate Measurement of Feature Points on Large Scale Automobile Part

In this paper,we present a robot vision based system for coordinate measurement of feature points on large scale automobile *** system consists of an industrial 6-DOF robot mounted with a CCD camera and a *** system controls the robot into the area of feature *** images of measuring feature points are acquired by the camera mounted on the robot.3D positions of the feature points are obtained from a model based pose estimation that applies to the *** measured positions of all feature points are then transformed to the reference coordinate of feature points whose positions are obtained from the coordinate measuring machine（CMM）.Finally,the point-to-point distances between the measured feature points and the reference feature points are calculated and *** results show that the root mean square error（RMSE） of measure values obtained by our system is less than 0.5 *** system is adequate for automobile assembly and can perform faster than conventional methods.

We analyze exclusion zones (EZs) for indoor environments in nuclear power plants and compare them with the EZ in free space. When an indoor environment is considered, the lower transmitted power is recommended since multiple reflections increases stronger scattered power. The EZ area is the widest when the transmitter is at the center of the I&C room.

In this paper, the contouring control problem for the 5 DoF dual-arm robot manipulators with constraints is studied. The method of equivalent errors, previously proposed for unconstrained motion systems, is generalized to the system with holonomic constraints in which Lagrange approach is taken. It is demonstrated that the proposed method can be applied to the constrained system provided that the constraints satisfy a proper condition. The contouring controller design is dealt with the problem of stabilization obtained by equivalent errors. Experimental results for contouring paths with different feed-rate verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Brushless DC (BLDC) motors have been widely used in industry. However, one of the main drawbacks of using BLDC motors is the undesirable torque ripple. The torque ripple can cause mechanical vibration, acoustic noise and bearing damage that reduces the lifetime of the machine. This paper proposes a simple repetitive control scheme to attenuate torque ripple of BLDC motors. In this method, the ripple is considered as an undesirable repeated signal that will be minimized by the repetitive control scheme. The control input used in the proposed method is controlled transistors switching using space vector pulse width modulation technique. Simulation results show the proposed repetitive control technique results in the apparent reduction of the torque ripple when compared to a conventional control scheme.

This research describes the design and development of firmwares for microcontroller and computer (Matlab-Simulink) interfacing techniques. The firmwares are particularly designed and implemented for real-time measurement, analysis and control applications. They are developed with C language to archive better performance. A C-file of the microcontroller is compiled by the XC16 compiler to generate a HEX-file. While a C-file of the Matlab-Simulink is written as standard s-function of the Matlab and then compiled by Visual Studio 2013 using MEX command in Matlab workspace to generate a MEX-file. A Matlab-Simulink application uses the MEX-file as a core function for exchanging data with the microcontroller. Both of the firmwares are implemented based on Event-driven and Queue-driven techniques to maintain real-time ability and to guarantee that all data flowing over UART (RS-232) are transmitted, received and processed on time. To test and evaluate the firmwares, we develop 4-Channel Data Acquisition (DAQ) and 4-Channel PWM Signal Generator (PSG) running on the microcontroller. And in the Matlab-Simulink, an application for visualizing the signals of the DAQ and controlling the signals of the PSG is developed. The experimental results obviously show that the firmwares can be used for computer-based measurement, analysis and control applications properly.

This paper shows a PI with phase-lead controller design using convex-concave optimization. The phase-lead term is added to reduce a high frequency measurement noise effect. By fixing all parameters of the phase-lead part, the optimization program searches the remain parameters subject to robustness constraints. The optimization constraints are functions in a frequency domain. The design problem can be solved by frequency gridding on a software package CVX. Experiments on an unstable magnetic levitation system are presented. The proposed controller shows significantly better performance than a robust H ∞ controller designed by a standard method on the same unstable system.

This paper presents the study and implementation approaches of microcontroller-based system dynamics emulator for Mechanical system and Electrical system. The main goals of this research are to prove that fixed-point microcontrollers can be used for system dynamics emulator, to study numerical approximation methods for system dynamics modeling and to make a microcontroller working as a system dynamics. Both systems, mechanical and electrical are modeled by Ordinary differential equation method (ODE). The numerical approximation techniques based on Euler's method are studied and used as implementation approaches. The obtained second-order differential equations are then applied by the Reduction of order technique to convert them to first-order differential equations that can be solved by the first-order Euler's methods. The final version of the system equations are finally implemented on a microcontroller and examined thoroughly. The microcontroller that works as a system dynamics connects to a computer through internet network using a standard 802.11b/g Wi-Fi module. Therefore, we can interact with the system running on the microcontroller directly from a web-browser. Web-applications running on a web-browser are used to control and visualize all of system parameters. We closely analyze the experimental results by comparing them with the results obtained by reliable computer software tools, Matlab and Octave. The experimental results show that the proposed approach acquires many desired requirement of system dynamics modeling and it obviously shows that many fixed-point microcontrollers can be properly used for system dynamics emulator.
