Comparative Analysis of SAAS Model and NPC Integration for Enhancing VR Shopping Experiences

This article examines the incorporation of the Shopping Assistance Automatic Suggestion (SAAS) model into Virtual Reality (VR) environments in order to improve the online shopping experience. The SAAS model employs sophisticated deep learning methods to offer customized product recommendations, which are conveyed by non-player characters (NPCs) via voice-based interactions. Our goal is to develop an interactive shopping experience that replicates real-life interactions by integrating AI-powered recommendations with immersive VR technology. We gather and standardize data from several open commerce databases, such as Amazon Product and Customer Reviews. The SAAS model, in conjunction with GPT-3, BERT, and T5, undergoes training and testing to evaluate its effectiveness across multiple criteria. The results demonstrate that the SAAS model surpasses other models in delivering contextually aware and pertinent recommendations. The integration process outlines the specific steps involved in capturing, processing, and transforming user interactions in virtual reality (VR) into vocal suggestions provided by non-player characters (NPCs). This strategy improves customization and utilizes the immersive features of virtual reality to effectively engage people. The results of our research establish a higher standard for e-commerce, with the goal of enhancing the user experience of online purchasing by making it more instinctive, engaging, and pleasurable. © 2024 by the authors.

Early recognition of clinical deterioration (CD) has vital importance in patients’ survival from exacerbation or death. Electronic health records (EHRs) data have been widely employed in Early Warning Scores (EWS) to measure CD risk in hospitalized patients. Recently, EHRs data have been utilized in Machine Learning (ML) models to predict mortality and CD. The ML models have shown superior performance in CD prediction compared to EWS. Since EHRs data are structured and tabular, conventional ML models are generally applied to them, and less effort is put into evaluating the artificial neural network’s performance on EHRs data. Thus, in this article, an extremely boosted neural network (XBNet) is used to predict CD, and its performance is compared to eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and random forest (RF) models. For this purpose, 103,105 samples from thirteen Brazilian hospitals are used to generate the models. Moreover, the principal component analysis (PCA) is employed to verify whether it can improve the adopted models’ performance. The performance of ML models and Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), an EWS candidate, are evaluated in CD prediction regarding the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and geometric mean (G-mean) metrics in a 10-fold cross-validation approach. Personnel and education data very important for organizations, including the military. All data related to military personnel will give effect positions and careers in the military field. The integration of personnel and education data can assist in processing and decision making. An analysis is needed so that the developed system can be useful for the long term. Analysis with IT balanced scorecard and COBIT® 2019, will be able to help and fill the gaps in the existing system based on the objectives of the military organization itself. It is shown that the domains BAI05 (Managed Organizational Change) and DSS02 (Managed Service Requests and Incidents) are still not being implemented well. The system developed will have the features and capabilities to support the organization in achieving its goals, including in the field of staffing and education. Besides, it provides convenience in making decisions in terms of positions related to personnel careers. © 2020 IEEE.

Carbon nanotube growth from Cu–Co alloys for field emission applications

We have developed a method of catalyst preparation for carbon nanotube (CNT) growth that uses solid-state diffusion to precipitate Co particles in a Cu matrix and control the size and size distribution of catalyst particles. Copper is an excellent electrical and thermal conductor, and has a small or negligible solubility for Co. Cu–Co alloys of approximately 5 atm% Co were formed in bulk by splat quenching the liquid alloy and on Si substrates by e-beam evaporation of the alloy, sputtering of the alloy, and sputter deposition of thin films of pure Cu and Co. The Co easily precipitates from dilute solutions of Cu–Co with heat treatment. These alloys and films were used to generate uniform distributions of Co precipitates, and CNTs were successfully grown by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD) and thermal CVD on the materials. These alloys can be patterned by photolithography and sputtering in order to grow CNTs in defined locations. Therefore, the technique is amenable to very large scale silicon integration for field emission applications. The results of this work and data from field emission studies are presented herein.

Hierarchical B-frame Video Coding Using Two-Layer CANF without Motion Coding

Typical video compression systems consist of two main modules: motion coding and residual coding. This general architecture is adopted by classical coding schemes (such as international standards H.265 and H.266) and deep learning-based coding schemes. We propose a novel B-frame coding architecture based on two-layer Conditional Augmented Normalization Flows (CANF). It has the striking feature of not transmitting any motion information. Our proposed idea of video compression without motion coding offers a new direction for learned video coding. Our base layer is a low-resolution image compressor that replaces the full-resolution motion compressor. The low-resolution coded image is merged with the warped high-resolution images to generate a high-quality image as a conditioning signal for the enhancement-layer image coding in full resolution. One advantage of this architecture is significantly reduced computational complexity due to eliminating the motion information compressor. In addition, we adopt a skip-mode coding technique to reduce the transmitted latent samples. The rate-distortion performance of our scheme is slightly lower than that of the state-of-the-art learned B-frame coding scheme, B-CANF, but outperforms other learned B-frame coding schemes. However, compared to B-CANF, our scheme saves 45% of multiply–accumulate operations (MACs) for encoding and 27% of MACs for decoding. The code is available at https://***. Modularity detection in protein-protein interaction networks

Background: Many recent studies have investigated modularity in biological networks, and its role in functional and structural characterization of constituent biomolecules. A technique that has shown considerable promise in the domain of modularity detection is the Newman and Girvan (NG) algorithm, which relies on the number of shortest-paths across pairs of vertices in the network traversing a given edge, referred to as the betweenness of that edge. The edge with the highest betweenness is iteratively eliminated from the network, with the betweenness of the remaining edges recalculated in every iteration. This generates a complete dendrogram, from which modules are extracted by applying a quality metric called modularity denoted by Q. This exhaustive computation can be prohibitively expensive for large networks such as Protein-Protein Interaction Networks. In this paper, we present a novel optimization to the modularity detection algorithm, in terms of an efficient termination criterion based on a target edge betweenness value, using which the process of iterative edge removal may be terminated. Results: We validate the robustness of our approach by applying our algorithm on real-world protein-protein interaction networks of Yeast, *** and Drosophila, and demonstrate that our algorithm consistently has significant computational gains in terms of reduced runtime, when compared to the NG algorithm. Furthermore, our algorithm produces modules comparable to those from the NG algorithm, qualitatively and quantitatively. We illustrate this using comparison metrics such as module distribution, module membership cardinality, modularity Q, and Jaccard Similarity Coefficient. Conclusions: We have presented an optimized approach for efficient modularity detection in networks. This paper presents a smart antenna system using a combination of nonconventional least square (NCLS) optimization and direct data domain least square (D3LS) for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation and beamforming, respectively. In the proposed system, NCLS optimization is utilized to estimate DOA of incoming signal first. The estimated DOA is then assisted for initial processing of D3LS in beamforming. The performance in term of estimated signal amplitude and estimated DOA of the proposed system is evaluated via simulations. © 2012 IEEE.

Modelling and Simulation (M&S) is increasingly important in numerous disciplines. M&S also has gained acceptance as a discipline in its own right. There is growing demand for at least two different approaches to M&S graduate education, one path for users and another for developers of M&S. Thus, the traditional department-focused approach is no longer adequate for MS education. This paper outlines the development of a multidisciplinary approach to M&S graduate education at Old Dominion University. The approach encourages development of a number of M&S programmes, coordinated by university-level oversight, in which all academic colleges participate. Copyright © 2009, Inderscience Publishers.
