Crop diseases pose significant challenges to global food security and agricultural sustainability. Timely and accurate disease detection is crucial for effective disease management and minimizing crop losses. In recent years, hyperspectral imaging has emerged as a promising technology for non-destructive and early disease detection in crops. This research paper presents an advanced deep learning approach for enhancing crop disease detection using hyperspectral imaging. The primary objective is to propose a hybrid Autoencoder-Generative Adversarial Network (AE-GAN) model that effectively extracts meaningful features from hyperspectral images and addresses the limitations of existing techniques. The hybrid AE-GAN model combines the strengths of the Autoencoder for feature extraction and the Generative Adversarial Network for synthetic sample generation. Through extensive evaluation, the proposed model outperforms existing techniques, achieving exceptional accuracy in crop disease detection. The results demonstrate the superiority of the hybrid AE-GAN model, offering substantial advantages in terms of feature extraction, synthetic sample generation, and utilization of spatial and spectral information. The proposed model’s contributions to sustainable agriculture and global food security make it a valuable tool for advancing agricultural practices and enhancing crop health monitoring. With its promising implications, the hybrid AE-GAN model represents a significant advancement in crop disease detection, paving the way for a more resilient and food-secure future. © 2024 – IOS Press. Large language models (LLMs) have significantly advanced performance across a spectrum of natural language processing (NLP) tasks. Yet, their application to knowledge graphs (KGs), which describe facts in the form of triplets and allow minimal hallucinations, remains an underexplored frontier. In this paper, we investigate the integration of LLMs with KGs by introducing a specialized KG Language (KGL), where a sentence precisely consists of an entity noun, a relation verb, and ends with another entity noun. Despite KGL's unfamiliar vocabulary to the LLM, we facilitate its learning through a tailored dictionary and illustrative sentences, and enhance context understanding via real-time KG context retrieval and KGL token embedding augmentation. Our results reveal that LLMs can achieve fluency in KGL, drastically reducing errors compared to conventional KG embedding methods on KG completion. Furthermore, our enhanced LLM shows exceptional competence in generating accurate three-word sentences from an initial entity and interpreting new unseen terms out of KGs. © 2024, CC BY.

As computer vision systems have improved, mostly through machine vision progress, people’s views on pictures have changed a lot. In response to this change, the Dynamic AdaptNet project is making an advanced system for analysing pictures that uses data from the surroundings. The manuscripts goals is to offer a full range of features, such as dynamic convolutional neural networks (CNNs), adaptable segmentation, and temporal attention. Standard, Baseline, Enhanced, Advanced, Optimised, and Specialised are some of the choices for the system. Standard is the easiest and most important to use. This study compares and contrasts different methods by checking how well they work based on several factors, such as success, adaptability, and resilience. Independent reviews and comparisons show that Dynamic AdaptNet is a complete tool for real-time picture analysis. This shows that it has the ability to make computer vision better.

Enhancing security in IIoT: RFID authentication protocol for edge computing and blockchain-enabled supply chain

This paper addresses security challenges, especially in the authentication mechanism of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)-enabled supply chain systems by proposing an enhanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) authentication protocol. The current system faces significant security risks due to increased connectivity and data exchange within supply chain networks. The proposed protocol integrates edge computing and blockchain to ensure secure, efficient mutual authentication between RFID tags and supply chain nodes. By utilizing the real-time processing capabilities of edge computing and the decentralization and immutability of blockchain, the protocol enhances the security of data transmitted in the system. The proposed protocol utilizes lightweight cryptographic functions optimized for resource-constrained edge devices, ensuring secure authentication and data transmission without compromising scalability or efficiency. Permissioned blockchain technology further strengthens trust and transparency in the supply chain by providing a decentralized, tamper-resistant ledger. The protocol employs cryptographic techniques such as a cryptographically secure one-way hash function, random number generation function, and circular shift operations to ensure data integrity and confidentiality, achieving mutual authentication, forward secrecy, and resistance to cryptographic attacks. Formal security analysis of the proposed authentication protocol is performed using the Real-Or-Random (ROR) model. The results demonstrate that the protocol offers superior trade-offs in term of security, computational cost, and communication efficiency compared to existing authentication protocols in this field. Simulation of the protocol is performed using Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications (AVISPA) tools. Its lightweight design makes it suitable for real-world application in resource-constrained IIoT environments. © 2025

Cyclic generators and an improved linear kernel for the rooted subtree prune and regraft distance

The rooted subtree prune and regraft (rSPR) distance between two rooted binary phylogenetic trees is a well-studied measure of topological dissimilarity that is NP-hard to compute. Here we describe an improved linear kernel for the problem. In particular, we show that if the classical subtree and chain reduction rules are augmented with a modified type of chain reduction rule, the resulting trees have at most 9k−3 leaves, where k is the rSPR distance;and that this bound is tight. The previous best-known linear kernel had size O(28k). To achieve this improvement we introduce cyclic generators, which can be viewed as cyclic analogues of the generators used in the phylogenetic networks literature. As a corollary to our main result we also give an improved weighted linear kernel for the minimum hybridization problem on two rooted binary phylogenetic trees. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Recent advances in NLP and information retrieval have given rise to a diverse set of question answering tasks that are of different formats (e.g., extractive, abstractive), require different model architectures (e.g., generative, discriminative), and setups (e.g., with or without retrieval). Despite having a large number of powerful, specialized QA pipelines (which we refer to as Skills) that consider a single domain, model or setup, there exists no framework where users can easily explore and compare such pipelines and can extend them according to their needs. To address this issue, we present UKP-SQUARE, an extensible online QA platform for researchers which allows users to query and analyze a large collection of modern Skills via a user-friendly web interface and integrated behavioural tests. In addition, QA researchers can develop, manage, and share their custom Skills using our microservices that support a wide range of models (Transformers, Adapters, ONNX), data-stores and retrieval techniques (e.g., sparse and dense). Segmenting brain white matter hyperintensities (WMH) from 3D Magnetic Resonance (MR) images is crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Unlike common 2D images, this task is more challenging and time-consuming. Classical deep learning methods for 3D image segmentation face two main challenges: 1) Pure 3D networks have more parameters and are prone to overfitting. 2) When using 2D networks to segment slices of 3D images, the lack of 3D structural information results in suboptimal segmentation after reconstruction. To address these difficulties, we propose the 2.5D ASF-UNet, which employs the 2.5D workflow and uses adjacent slices as the input for 2D segmentation network ASF-UNet. In ASF-UNet, separate down-sampling paths are used for the adjacent slices, and the Local Spatial Attention Module (LSAM) is designed to more effectively integrate 3D spatial information into the 2D network. Additionally, the Conv_Spectral_Block (CSB) is designed to extract and integrate local and global features. It allows the model to capture global spatial structures while preserving detailed information. Experimental results on MICCAI MSSEG 2016 and Local MS datasets show that 2.5D ASF-UNet achieve better segmentation performance than other deep learning methods.

Face recognition is a relatively novel research field, and its application is closely related to numerous other areas. Moreover, it is emerging as a critical research theme due to its broad range of applications. Thus, many face recognition methods use a variety of feature extraction approaches. Nonetheless, the issue continues to be challenging, particularly identifying non-biological entities. This paper proposes an extended descriptor for local features of an effectual facial recognition system using a local directional pattern operator. This technique combines the Frei-Chen and Robinson masks' strengths by fusion of the directional features of LDP for these two masks;this elicits a robust feature extraction method for distinguishing faces. Experimental results using the Yale database show that the extended descriptor considerably improved recognition rate and better performance than traditional local feature descriptors. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing.
