The management of large volumes of data has given rise to significant challenges to the entity reconciliation problem (which refers to combining data from different sources for a unified vision) due to the fact that the data are becoming more unstructured, unclean and incomplete, need to be more linked, etc. Testing the applications that implement the entity reconciliation problem is crucial to ensure both the correctness of the reconciliation process and the quality of the reconciled data. In this paper, we present a first approach, based on MDE, which allows the creation of test models for the integration testing of entity reconciliation applications. © 2016 ACM.

Microblog Sentiment Analysis with Emoticon Space Model

Emoticons have been widely employed to express different types of moods, emotions, and feelings in microblog environments. They are therefore regarded as one of the most important signals for microblog sentiment analysis. Most existing studies use several emoticons that convey clear emotional meanings as noisy sentiment labels or similar sentiment indicators. However, in practical microblog environments, tens or even hundreds of emoticons are frequently adopted and all emoticons have their own unique emotional meanings. Besides, a considerable number of emoticons do not have clear emotional meanings. An improved sentiment analysis model should not overlook these phenomena. Instead of manually assigning sentiment labels to several emoticons that convey relatively clear meanings, we propose the emoticon space model （ESM） that leverages more emotieons to construct word representations from a massive amount of unlabeled data. By projecting words and microblog posts into an emoticon space, the proposed model helps identify subjectivity, polarity, and emotion in microblog environments. The experimental results for a public microblog benchmark corpus （NLP＆CC 2013） indicate that ESM effectively leverages emoticon signals best runs. and outperforms previous state-of-the-art strategies and benchmark

In this paper we propose a new graph-based approach to solve semantic ambiguity using a semantic net based on WordNet. Our proposal uses an adaptation of the Clique Partitioning Technique to extract sets of strongly related senses. For that, an initial graph is obtained from senses of WordNet combined with the information of several semantic categories from different resources: WordNet Domains, SUMO and WordNet Affect. In order to obtain the most relevant concepts in a sentence we use the Relevant Semantic Trees method. The evaluation of the results has been conducted using the test data set of Senseval-2 obtaining promising results. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

We present a set of approaches for corpus filtering in the context of document external plagiarism detection. Producing filtered sets, and hence limiting the problem's search space, can be a performance improvement and is used today in many real-world applications such as web search engines. With regards to document plagiarism detection, the database of documents to match the suspicious candidate against is potentially fairly large, and hence it becomes very recommendable to apply filtered set generation techniques. The approaches that we have implemented include information retrieval methods and a document similarity measure based on a variant of tf-idf. Furthermore, we perform textual comparisons, as well as a semantic similarity analysis in order to capture higher levels of obfuscation. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Tool support for refactoring is widespread nowadays. The most widely known IDEs include refactoring support, and many refactoring-specific tools are also available. Developers are aware of refactoring activities and they do refactor their applications even manually or in an assisted way. For the users of refactoring tools, the current state of the art is well documented in refactoring catalogs, where objectives, motivation, mechanisms, etc. are defined. There are also available collections of criteria to detect refactoring opportunities;compilations of guidelines to help decide when and how to apply refactorings. However, refactoring tool implementors can not only base their work on the documentation available in refactoring catalogs because they do not offer clear guidelines on how to build the tools to automate these refactorings. Implementing refactoring tools without any guidance, involves reasoning about which will be the better plan to implement refactoring operations in the tool, their complexity or their graphical interface design, etc. This paper introduces a refactoring characterization, and proposes how it can help refactoring tool implementors on making decisions.

ANCAEE: A Novel Clustering Algorithm for Energy Efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks

One of the major constraints of wireless sensor networks is limited energy available to sensor nodes because of the small size of the batteries they use as source of power. Clustering is one of the routing techniques that have been using to minimize sensor nodes’ energy consumption during operation. In this paper, A Novel Clustering Algorithm for Energy Efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks (ANCAEE) has been proposed. The algorithm achieves good performance in terms of minimizing energy consumption during data transmission and energy consumptions are distributed uniformly among all nodes. ANCAEE uses a new method of clusters formation and election of cluster heads. The algorithm ensures that a node transmits its data to the cluster head with a single hop transmission and cluster heads forward their data to the base station with multi-hop transmissions. Simulation results show that our approach consumes less energy and effectively extends network utilization.

The idea of a Kripke semantics endowed with possibility/plausibility information is not new;in fact there are different approaches for that;see: [6], [13], [16], [19]. This paper follows the approach found in [6], but whereas [6] provides a fixed interpretation for connectives into [0,1] here we provide a characterization of a fuzzy semantics for connectives in such a way that the resulting fuzzy frames: K, T and D, are described precisely by the set of statements which also describes, respectively, the usual modal systems K, T and D. © 2011 IEEE.

Best language recognition performance is commonly obtained by fusing the scores of several heterogeneous systems. Regardless the fusion approach, it is assumed that different systems may contribute complementary information, either because they are developed on different datasets, or because they use different features or different modeling approaches. Most authors apply fusion as a final resource for improving performance based on an existing set of systems. Though relative performance gains decrease as larger sets of systems are considered, best performance is usually attained by fusing all the available systems, which may lead to high computational costs. In this paper, we aim to discover which technologies combine the best through fusion and to analyse the factors (data, features, modeling methodologies, etc.) that may explain such a good performance. Results are presented and discussed for a number of systems provided by the participating sites and the organizing team of the Albayzin 2010 language Recognition Evaluation. We hope the conclusions of this work help research groups make better decisions in developing language recognition technology.

In this paper we present an approach to detect external plagiarism based on textual similarity. This is an efficient and precise method that can be applied over large sets of documents. The system that we have developed contains a first phase of document selection that uses a variant of tf -idf applied over the terms that appear in the two documents of the pair being compared. After this is done, we apply a more complex and accurate function based on character n-grams over the subset of documents resulting from the first step in order to extract the plagiarized passages, or matches. Once all matches for a given document are extracted, we perform a greedy match merging operation to allow in-between text in order to be compatible with certain levels of plagiarism obfuscation. In our participation in the 2nd International Competition on Plagiarism Detection, we achieved an overall score of 0:2222, ranking 11th out of 18 participants.
