This paper proposes a system that is capable of detecting, recognizing and indicating traffic signs to the driver to provide a safe and convenient driving experience. The system is composed of three phases;image pre-processing phase, detection phase and recognition phase. Image pre-processing phase deals with image segmentation that is employed to enhance the images to obtain clearer information under variable lighting conditions. During the detection phase, the objective is to find traffic signs in the input image frames and to return the regional coordinates of detected signs. In order to detect traffic signs, a cascade classifier was trained to analyse the frame and to detect signs in each frame. In the recognition phase, a multiclass support vector machine image category classifier was trained to recognize and alert the driver. The system comprised of these phases is capable of detecting, recognizing and alerting traffic signs with 98.6% accuracy while the vehicle is moving at a speed in the range of 40-45 km/h. © 2017 IEEE.

Cloud workload prediction based on workflow execution time discrepancies

Infrastructure as a service clouds hide the complexity of maintaining the physical infrastructure with a slight disadvantage: they also hide their internal working details. Should users need knowledge about these details e.g., to increase the reliability or performance of their applications, they would need solutions to detect behavioural changes in the underlying system. Existing runtime solutions for such purposes offer limited capabilities as they are mostly restricted to revealing weekly or yearly behavioural periodicity in the infrastructure. This article proposes a technique for predicting generic background workload by means of simulations that are capable of providing additional knowledge of the underlying private cloud systems in order to support activities like cloud orchestration or workflow enactment. Our technique uses long-running scientific workflows and their behaviour discrepancies and tries to replicate these in a simulated cloud with known (trace-based) workloads. We argue that the better we can mimic the current discrepancies the better we can tell expected workloads in the near future on the real life cloud. We evaluated the proposed prediction approach with a biochemical application on both real and simulated cloud infrastructures. The proposed algorithm has shown to produce significantly (∼20%) better workload predictions for the future of simulated clouds than random workload selection. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. The modeling and simulation community in aviation is in search of standardization in simulation scenario definition. While the System Entity Structure (SES) ontology promises an effective formal means of domain modeling, computational representation is still a key challenge to tackle for fostering wide-acceptance and standardization. This paper presents an eXtended Markup Language (XML) based approach. It first gives the relational specification and the schema definition of the SES ontology. Following a layered modeling workflow, it then presents a schema definition for the simulation scenario definition language and exemplifies its utilization. © 2018, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. Development of the mobile robot can be executed in two different ways. Firstly, this creation of the built-in system, secondly, the use of "ready to use" industrial components. With distribution of the industrial mobile robots in the market there are more and more components which can be used for creation of all control system and sensors of the robot mobile platform. Use of the ready components doesn't demand the hardware development that accelerates time of development and reduces cost. The chassis of the Belarus-132 mini-tractor is used as a platform of robotic system in the research, "creation" of the program for traffic control is required. Results of the practical research on design and model development of a mobile robotic complex are given.

Cross-lingual Entity Alignment (CEA) aims at identifying entities with their counterparts in different language knowledge graphs. Knowledge embedding alignment plays an important role in CEA due to its advantages of easy implementation and run-time robustness. However, existing embedding alignment methods haven't considered the problem of embedding distribution alignment which refers to the alignment of spatial shapes of embedding spaces. To this end, we present a new Adversarial Knowledge Embedding framework (AKE for short) that jointly learns the representation, mapping and adversarial modules in an end-to-end manner. By reducing the discrepancy of embedding distributions, AKE can approximately preserve an isomorphism between source and target embeddings. In addition, we introduce two new orthogonality constraints into mapping to obtain the self-consistency and numerical stability of transformation. Experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines.

By considering the Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer (SWIPT) schemes, this paper focuses on secure transmission model design in multiple-input-single-output (MISO) channels. In these channels, the channel state information is assumed to be perfect. Our objective is to maximize the worst-case secrecy rate with respect to both potential eavesdroppers and obvious eavesdroppers under the constraints of energy-harvesting and total transmission power. We present an optimization model to indirectly obtain maximum security rate in a single receiver system. Due to the high computational complexity of the solution process caused by the formulated non-convex optimization problem, we propose a novel indirect method to handle this issue. Then, a Semi-Definite Programming (SDP) relaxation method is used to approach the optimal solution. Moreover, we reveal the conditions for ensuring that the above semi-definite relaxation is compact. Simulation results demonstrate that the gained performance in our system is much better than those of the existing competing schemes.

Customer churn prediction has been used widely in various kind of domain especially subscription-basis industries. With the rapid growth of telecommunication industry over the last decade, this industry not only focuses on providing numerous products, but also satisfying the customers as it is one of the key solutions to remain competitive. This research proposed MultiLayer Perceptron Method for churn prediction. The evaluation is compared with three classifiers which includes are Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes and Decision Tree in term of several aspects. In preprocessing phase, we employed Principal Component Analysis and normalization to find the correlation among all the variables. For the postprocessing, InfoGainAttribute is used to identify the highest factor attribute that leads to customer retention. It is found that MultiLayer Perceptron outperforms other classifiers and international plan plays important role to retain customer from leaving organization.

Cloud computing represents the promise of outsourcing of scientific computing such as matrix multiplication. However, this can introduce new vulnerabilities such as information leakage. Cloud server intentionally or unintentionally may reveal sensitive input matrices of the client as well as multiplication results to unauthorised entities. In this paper, we propose two protocols that use sparse matrices to prevent information leakage in outsourcing matrix multiplications to cloud computing without encryption. The protocols are considered lightweight compared to other comparable approaches. We also provide a running example to demonstrate how the protocols ensure no information leakage of client data.

A Flexible Keyphrase Extraction Technique for Academic Literature

A keyphrase extraction technique endeavors to extract quality keyphrases from a given document, which provide a high-level summary of that document. Except statistical keyphrase extraction approaches, all other approaches are either domain-dependent or require a sufficient amount of training data, which are rare at present. Therefore, in this paper, a new tree-based automatic keyphrase extraction technique is proposed, which is domain-independent and employs nominal statistical knowledge; but no train data are required. The proposed technique extracts a quality keyphrase through forming a tree from a candidate keyphrase; and later, it is expanded or shrunk or remained in the same state depending on other similar candidate keyphrases. At the end, keyphrases are extracted from the resultant trees based on a value, µ (which is the Maturity Index (MI) of a node in the tree), which enables flexibility in this process. A small µ value would yield many and/or lengthy keyphrases (greedy approach); whereas, a large µ value would yield lower and/or abbreviated keyphrases (conservative approach). Thereby, a user can extract his/her desired-level of keyphrases through tuning µ value. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is evaluated on an actual corpus, and compared with Rapid Automatic Keyphrase Extraction (RAKE) technique.
