Recently many researchers are working on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks, which are able to overcome the firewalls, NATs and other security devices without changing the network policy. P2P architectures will be very important for future distributed systems and applications. In such networks, peers are heterogeneous in providing the services and they do not have the same competence of reliability. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate whether a peer is trustworthy or not for file sharing and other services. In this paper, we propose an integrated fuzzy-based trustworthiness system for P2P Communications in JXTA-Overlay, which consists of two Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC1 and FLC2). For FLC1, we use three input parameters: Number of Jobs (NJ), Number of Connections (NC) and Connection Lifetime (CL) and the output is Actual Behavioural Criterion (ABC). We use ABC and Reputation (R) as input linguistic parameters for FLC2 and the output is Peer Reliability (PR). We evaluate the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results has shown that the proposed system has a good behaviour.

Peer to Peer (P2P) systems recently are receiving a lot of attention from the researchers. In such systems, peers are heterogeneous in providing resources and services. Peers do not have the same reliability so it is necessary to evaluate their trustworthiness for a reliable sharing of the resources and services. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy-based system for peer reliability in JXTA-Overlay P2P platform. We took in consideration two parameters: Actual Behaviour Criterion (ABC) and Amount of Data Exchanged (ADE) between peers. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results shows that the proposed system has a good behaviour and it can be used successfully to select the most reliable peer to execute the tasks.

Cluster formation and cluster head selection are important problems in sensor network applications and can drastically affect the network's communication energy dissipation. However, selecting the cluster head is not easy in different environments which may have different characteristics. In order to deal with this problem, we have proposed a system for controlling sensor speed in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The proposed system is based on fuzzy logic. We use 4 input linguistic parameters: Remaining Power of Sensor (RPS), Degree of Number of Neighbor Nodes (D3N), Distance from Cluster Centroid (DCC) and Sensor Speed (SS) for selection of the cluster-head and the control of sensor speed. By controlling the sensor speed, we are able to predict whether the node will leave or stay in the cluster. We evaluate the proposed system by simulations and show that the system has a good behavior.

In this paper, cross-corpora evaluations are used to analyze the bias of spontaneous facial expression databases. Local binary pattern, Gabor, eigenface and fisherface features are extracted and applied to the four spontaneous expression databases: USTC-NVIE, VAM, Belfast Naturalistic and SEMAINE to recognize arousal (high/low) and valance (positive/negative) respectively. Experimental results indicate that there exists bias among different spontaneous expression databases. The emotion-induction methods, the variety of subjects and the quantity of raters may have caused such a bias.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of OLSR and DSDV protocols in a highway VANET scenario. The mobility patterns of vehicles are generated by means of CAVENET (Cellular Automaton based Vehicular Network). As communication protocol simulator, is used NS3 (Network Simulator 3). The simulations are done for four different scenarios based on nodes ID. We use Throughput and Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) as evaluation metrics. For the simulations we used IEEE 802.11p standard and TwoRayGroundPropagationLossModel. We compared the performance of both protocols and the simulation results have shown that OLSR protocol performs better than DSDV.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) represent a rapidly emerging, particularly challenging class of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs). VANETs are expected to be massively deployed in upcoming vehicles, because their use can improve the safety of driving and makes new forms of inter-vehicle communications possible as well. Because they are characterized of high mobility and dynamic topology change, congestion control should be performed in such networks. In this paper, we analyze the TCP traffic in a VANET. We investigate and compare the Good put of DYMO Protocol for TCP Vegas and TCP New Reno considering also the congestion window, slow-start threshold and sequence number versus time. The simulation results show that in this VANET scenario, TCP New Reno performs better than TCP Vegas.

This paper proposes key SaaS (software-as-a-Service) design strategies for those SaaS systems that run on top of a commercial PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) system such as GAE (Google App Engine)[1]. Specifically, this paper proposes a model-based approach for customization, multi-tenancy architecture, scalability, and redundancy & recovery techniques for GAE. The ACDATER (Actors, Conditions, Data, Actions, Timing, Events, and Relationship) model is used for various features, and then automated code generation is used to generate code based on the model specified. Simulation can be performed to ensure correctness before deployment.

This SIG examines the vexed question of evaluation of Digital Art and how lessons on evaluation can be exchanged between the arts and mainstream HCI. We start by looking at critiques of standard approaches to evaluation in HCI. We then look at approaches, which have been developed in Digital Art to merge qualitative and quantitative methods. These investigations set the agenda for the SIG with the aim of uncovering the audience's knowledge and attempts at Digital Art evaluation, appreciation and critique. The chief outcome will be an exchange of experiences and proposals for ways forward for both the Digital Arts community and the broader CHI community. © 2012 Authors.

Information system security policies have grown in complexity and the emerging collaborative nature of business has created new challenges in creating and managing such policies. These policies address several domains ranging from access control to disaster recovery and depend not only on the business itself but on socio-political/legal requirements as well. Events like collaborative work or project-based organisational units result in the need to create a new information system security policy for the specific work/project, while maintaining status quo of existing policies. This requires identification and evaluation of existing policies to enable creating the new policy in line with the existing ones with acceptable deviations based on informed decisions. This paper provides a framework for capturing and converting security policies in terms of an XML format and further into alloy language format. Policies are converted to alloy format for performing further policy consistency analysis using Alloy Analyser. Copyright © 2012 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

MusiCLEF is a novel benchmarking activity that aims at promoting the development of new methodologies for music access and retrieval on real public music collections. A major focus is given to mul- timodal retrieval that, in the case of music collections, can be obtained by combining content-based information, automatically extracted from music files, with contextual information, provided by users via tags, com- ments, or reviews. Moreover, MusiCLEF aims at maintaining a tight connection with real application scenarios, focusing on issues on music access and retrieval that are faced by professional users. To this end, the benchmark activity of the first year of MusiCLEF focused on two main tasks: Automatic categorization of music to be used as soundtrack of TV shows and automatic identification of the digitized material of a music digital library.
