Using GPT and authentic contextual recognition to generate math word problems with difficulty levels

Automatic generation of math word problems (MWPs) is a challenging task in Natural Language Processing (NLP), particularly connecting it to real-life problems because it can benefit students in developing a higher level of mathematical thinking. However, most of the MWPs are presented within a scholastic setting in a decontextualized way. This paper describes a prototype system that generates authentic math word problems (i.e., real-life problems) using authentic contextual recognition with controlled difficulty levels. Our innovative approach includes the acquisition of authentic contextual information through recognition technology, an instructional-based prompt generator for three different difficulty levels, and question generation through the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) model. We evaluated the performance of the system in terms of the quality of generated questions using automatic evaluation and human evaluation. Further, we assessed the usability of the system using heuristic evaluation. The automatic evaluation showed our generated MWPs were relevant for geometry topics and varied in sentence generation. The human evaluation found our system generated more realistic problems with satisfactory language quality and mathematical validity. Our system also produced more questions with higher difficulty levels based on human evaluation. Heuristic evaluation captured the usability of the system and highlighted the potential to be applied in a pedagogical context for mathematics learning. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Vision Studio aims to utilize a diverse range of modern deep learning and computer vision principles and techniques to provide a broad array of functionalities in image and video processing. Deep learning is a distinct class of machine learning algorithms that utilize multiple layers to gradually extract more advanced features from raw input. This is beneficial when using a matrix as input for pixels in a photo or frames in a video. Computer vision is a field of artificial intelligence that teaches computers to interpret and comprehend the visual domain. The main functions implemented include deepfake creation, digital ageing (de-ageing), image animation, and deepfake detection. Deepfake creation allows users to utilize deep learning methods, particularly autoencoders, to overlay source images onto a target video. This creates a video of the source person imitating or saying things that the target person does. Digital aging utilizes generative adversarial networks (GANs) to digitally simulate the aging process of an individual. Image animation utilizes first-order motion models to create highly realistic animations from a source image and driving video. Deepfake detection is achieved by using advanced and highly efficient convolutional neural networks (CNNs), primarily employing the EfficientNet family of models. © 2024 by the authors of this article. Early signs of blind identification and retina disorder in retina image has become prominent. Deep learning techniques are used to improve the accuracy in detecting pathological conditions from the retina images. However, the models have some challenges such as suboptimal feature extraction and inefficient filtering methods. Most of the traditional methods often result in overfitting and under fitting, thus decreasing the generalizability and robustness of the model. The proposed hybrid approach combines bilateral filtering with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). In this approach, bilateral filtering acts as a pre-processing technique to enhance image quality by reducing noise and preserving edges for the correct extraction of features. The CNN is applied for feature extraction and it is used to self-learn complex patterns from filtered images. The proposed approach gives an accuracy of 95.65% with a loss of 0.18 without overfitting and underfitting. © 2024 IEEE.

Breast cancer is still a global health concern, chiefly affecting women, as it is one of the major causes of cancer mortality. For the therapy to be effective, early diagnosis of cancer is critical to raising the survival level and increasing the effectiveness of the procedure. The advancement in the applied technique of Machine learning (ML) has brought further opportunities for early and effective diagnosis of breast cancer. This review paper provides insights into how different ML algorithms including the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Random Forests, and many more have contributed to the detection of breast cancer. These algorithms have proved effective in providing solutions to various medical data and imaging including early diagnosis and treatment. The paper also looks at the use of ML with precision medicine to show that these technologies will help minimize false diagnoses and offer better treatment options. This review consolidates recent works and advancements to emphasize the prospect of ML in breast cancer management and calls for more studies to enhance its implementation in practice © 2024 IEEE.

The secure authentication of user data is crucial in various sectors, including digital banking, medical applications and e-governance, especially for images. Secure communication protects against data tampering and forgery, thereby bolstering the foundation for informed decision-making, whether managing traffic, enhancing public safety, or monitoring environmental conditions. Conventional visual cryptographic protocols offer solutions, particularly for color images, though they grapple with challenges such as high computational demands and reliance on multiple cover images. Additionally, they often require third-party authorization to verify the image integrity. On the other hand, visual cryptography offers a streamlined approach. It divides images into shares, where each pixel represented uniquely, thus allowing visual decryption without complex computations. The optimized multi-tiered authentication protocol (OMTAP), which is integrated with the visual sharing scheme (VSS), takes secure image sharing to the next level. It reduces share count, prioritizes image fidelity and transmission security, and introduces the self-verification of decrypted image integrity through asymmetric key matrix generators, thus eliminating external validation. Rigorous testing has confirmed OMTAP's robustness and broad applicability, thereby ensuring that decrypted images maintain their quality with a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 40 dB and full integrity at the receiver's end. © 2024 American Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Coastal areas around the world face a great threat from tropical cyclones, which makes timely and accurate identification essential for efficient disaster response. An enhanced method for detecting tropical cyclones is proposed in this work using the YOLOv8 (You Only Look Once version 8) object identification algorithm. Using the real-time object recognition capabilities of YOLOv8, the methodology is designed to tackle the challenges associated with finding cyclonic structures in satellite data. To detect crucial features typical of tropical cyclones - like cloud formations, circular symmetry, and dynamic atmospheric fluctuations - the YOLOv8 architecture is improved. To ensure its adaptability to different climatic circumstances, the model is trained using a varied dataset of labeled satellite photos. The YOLOv8-based methodology is superior to existing methods in detecting tropical cyclones with accuracy and efficiency almost in real-time, as demonstrated by the experimental results. Because of the algorithm's excellent precision, recall, and computing economy, early warning systems and catastrophe preparedness can benefit greatly from it. This research contributes to the ongoing effort to develop detection approaches for increased resilience in vulnerable coastal areas, while also utilizing YOLOv8's capabilities to address the global threat posed by tropical cyclones. This study can help clarify the necessity of improving models and conducting better observations of Tropical Cyclones. © 2024 IEEE.

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Autonomous Vehicles (AV) are poised to revolutionize the automotive industry, offering safer, more efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions. This review article explores the current state of AVs, role of AI in AV, challenges and hurdles, Real world applications & development, its critical technological components, and their impact on society. This paper presents a wide array of applications of AI in AV, elaborating on the way complex sensor fusion, computer vision, and Machine learning (ML) algorithms makes AVs perceive their surroundings, form critical opinions, and carry out accurate motions. AI is making real time interpretations of great quantities of data which are paving the way for safer and more effective navigation under a diversity of traffic circumstances, from sensor fusion to decision-making algorithms. The next section of this paper elaborates on the role of AI in the field of AV in perceiving, planning, and navigating through real world environment, while also talking about issues of integration and ethics. This paper further identifies its social, economic, and environmental consequences, resulting from mass use of AV. This article discusses the latest developments and opportunities in the regulatory environment, gives an overview of how AV define transportation in the near future. This paper also explores the levels of autonomy of AVs as defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and defines the process from driver assistance to full automation. It examines the ethical and technical considerations arising at each instant and emphasizes the key role AI continues to play in providing more autonomy while preserving security and dependability. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, people deal with major psychological issues on a daily basis, often in the absence of a desired support system. In the field of psychology, focus is on the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, goals, and interests of individuals. The psychologist conventionally considers various types of personality traits, like the Big 5 personality traits, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the OCEAN Model (Openness, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Extraversion, Neuroticism), and other methods also considered for measuring personality. To forecast personality traits like extraversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism, consider the name "Big Five personality traits"It is a universal model to forecast these personality traits. Studies on personality prediction that identify personality disorders from user content on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp primarily rely on user behavior on these platforms. A number of popular Deep learning (DL) techniques have advanced recently, including Deep Belief Networks (DBNs), Convolution Neural Networks (CNNs), and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs). Examine these methods in terms of single and multiple modalities, including psychological, audio, video, text, and image information. Researchers currently focus on predicting personality traits using single-modality text features, static facial images, audio, and video clips, including interview recordings and YouTube videos. Therefore, the current study highlights that personality prediction mostly relies on written text, audio and video datasets used in Machine learning (ML) and DL models. Additional investigation is needed to resolve ethical concerns and justify the use of psychological datasets and DL models to evaluate personality traits. This paper introduces an automated grading system for mangoes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy compared to human-based methods. The system uses the Lion Assisted Firefly Algorithm (LA-FF) to extract the best features from multiple highlights, enhancing grading efficiency and accuracy. The LA-FF algorithm is then used to fine-tune the convolutional layers of a deep CNN based on the specific requirements of mango grading. The system integrates the latest algorithms, automation, and adaptation to create an even more effective and precise grading system suitable for rural agricultural contexts. The LA-FF algorithm is used to extract the best features from multiple highlights, resulting in a more accurate and efficient grading process. © 2025 IEEE.
