The main aim of this contribution is description of side emitting plastic optical fibres basic properties and their efficient embedding into fibrous structures for creation of textile structures with active visibility in shadows. For preparation of textile structures containing side emitting plastic optical fibres the special weaving technology is used. Illumination system with light emitting diode (LED) is used as light source. Light intensity of textile structures is compared with light intensity of fibres. Incorporation of side emitting plastic optical fibres into fibrous tube provides sufficient side emission especially for plastic optical fibres with larger diameters. The corresponding technology has been developed and the possible applications were proved in real conditions. The use of side emitting POF in textile tube are still in the first stage of industrial realization and it will be necessary to optimize their composition and functionality for various targeted applications including surface effects, doping and use of special dyestuffs.

Among many other materials for the reinforcement of composites, technical fabrics are increasingly being used, especially from glass tows, which have good mechanical properties. In this paper, glass fiber based tapes containing special types of resins, in pre-condensate form with application in technology of composites preparation by precise winding is prepared. Also, the selected suitable resin was loaded by suitable types of nanoparticles for enhancing mechanical properties. The tensile properties of the tapes made from glass were investigated. Measurements of resultant stabilized hybrid composite tapes (SHCT) were focused on the breaking force, deformation at break and initial modulus. It was found that the durability of the tapes was sufficient for long term storing. The main benefit was avoiding of resin penetration into winded structure which is due to tight arrangements of fibrous phase which is very complicated. The results show that SHCT can be stored and used after a longer period of time.

As electrification in the automotive industry progresses, the demand is rising for test particles with specific properties. More and more new applications are also being developed, such as processes for validating cleaning steps, contamination tracking or determining cleanliness limits. This article describes how test particles can be reproducibly manufactured in all three dimensions by micro milling. In addition, it explains how the dimensional accuracy of these free-form surfaces can be analyzed with computer tomography.
