Ubiquitous embedded systems are often resource-constrained. Developing software for these systems should take into account resources such as memory space. In this paper, we develop and implement an analysis framework to infer statically stack usage bounds for assembly-level programs in abstract Java Byte code. Our stack bound inference process, extended from a theoretical framework proposed earlier by some of the authors, is composed of deductive inference rules in multiple passes. Based on these rules, a usable tool has been developed for processing programs to capture the stack memory needs of each procedure in terms of the symbolic values of its parameters. The final result contains path-sensitive information to achieve better precision. The tool invokes a Presburger solver to perform fixed point analysis for loops and recursive procedures. Our initial experiments have confirmed the viability and power of the approach.

In this paper, a fast and robust graph-based approach for boundary estimation of fiber bundles derived from Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) is presented. DTI is a non-invasive imaging technique that allows the estimation of the location of white matter tracts based on measurements of water diffusion properties. Depending on DTI data, the fiber bundle boundary can be determined to gain information about eloquent structures, which is of major interest for neurosurgery. DTI in combination with tracking algorithms allows the estimation of position and course of fiber tracts in the human brain. The presented method uses these tracking results as the starting point for a graph-based approach. The overall method starts by computing the fiber bundle centerline between two user-defined regions of interests (ROIs). This centerline determines the planes that are used for creating a directed graph. Then, the mincut of the graph is calculated, creating an optimal boundary of the fiber bundle.

A framework for modeling, analyzing and synthesizing nuclear safeguards information with various uncertainties is proposed by using a newly developed belief rule-base inference methodology (RIMER). After a hierarchical analysis of States' nuclear activities on the basis of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) physical model, the multi-layer structure of the evaluation model for States' nuclear activities is outlined. The special emphasis is given to the synthesis and evaluation analysis of the physical model indicator information by RIMER, which handles hybrid uncertain information in nuclear safeguards evaluation process. The proposed framework illustrates and clarifies the inference and synthesis formalism from a case study of nuclear safeguards information evaluation.

A novel method, multiple classifier behavior-based data reduction and classification algorithm, called DRC, is proposed in this paper. It arrived at the transformation of the data-space by suing of the multiple classifier behavior vector so that data-sets transform from the original spaces to the behavior spaces. It aims to find some more meaningful representatives to replace the original dataset via classifier behavior vector for further classification. Each representative is formed by its multiple classifier behavior and its neighborhood which satisfies a predefined threshold. Inspired by the spirits of data reduction and classifier selection methods, the proposed DRC not only reduces the cost but also uses the advantage of each single classifier to improve the classification accuracy to a certain extent. This is proved by real world applications such as toxicity prediction of chemical compounds in predictive toxicology.

This article gives a capsule view of research on rough set theory and applications ongoing at universities and laboratories in China. Included in this capsule view of rough set research is a brief description of the following things: Chinese research groups on rough set with their URLs for web pages, names of principal researchers (supervisors), numbers of graduate students, and topics being investigated. Statistical summaries showing the growth in the research on rough set theory and application in China are included. In addition, an introduction summarizing the research interests of Chinese researchers is included in this article. For the non-Hermitian and positive semidefinite systems of linear equations, we derive necessary and sufficient conditiorrs for guaranteeing the unconditional convergence of the preconditioned Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting iteration methods. We then apply these results to block tridiagonal linear systems in order to obtain convergence conditions for the corresponding block variants of the preconditioned Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting iteration methods. © 2006 American math.matical Society.

The UNICORE grid system provides a seamless, secure and intuitive access to distributed grid resources. In recent years, UNICORE 5 is used as a well-tested grid middleware system in production grids (e.g. DEISA, D-Grid) and at many supercomputer centers world-wide. Beyond this production usage, UNICORE serves as a solid basis in many European and International research projects and business scenarios from T-Systems, Philips Research, Intel, Fujitsu and others. To foster ongoing developments in multiple projects, UNICORE is open source under BSD license at SourceForge. More recently, the new Web services-based UNICORE 6 has become available that is based on open standards such as the Web services addressing (WS-A) and the Web services resource framework (WS-RF) and thus conforms to the open grid services architecture (OGSA) of the open grid forum (OGF). In this paper we present the evolution from production UNICORE 5 to the open standards-based UNICORE 6 and its various Web services-based interfaces. It describes the interface integration of emerging open standards such as OGSA-BES and OGSA-RUS and thus provides an overview of UNICORE 6.

In wireless sensor networks (WSN), reliable monitoring of a phenomenon (or event detection) depends on the collective data provided by the target cluster of sensors and not on any individual node. In this paper we define a WSN reliability measure that considers the aggregate flow of sensor data into a sink node (gateway or cluster head). Given an estimation of the data generation rate and the failure probability of each sensor, we formulate the reliability measure and show that computing this measure for an arbitrary WSN is #P-hard. We present an exponential algorithm for arbitrary WSN. We then consider some special cases where we can either compute or approximate (bound) the reliability using an efficient algorithm. Finally, we present some numerical results that demonstrate some of the applications of our algorithms. Reliability evaluation tools are important in the context of design and analysis of sensitive information gathering sensor networks. © 2006 IEEE.

A(k,n) Threshold Nominative Proxy Signature Scheme for Electronic Commerce

By using the Lagrange interpolation formula and the technology of signature of equality, a (k, n) threshold nominative proxy signature scheme is proposed, where an original signer delegates his (her) signing power to a proxy, who generates a nominative signature on behalf of the original signer and only k or more active verifiers in the n nominees (verifiers) nominated by the proxy signer can verify the signature signed by the proxy. If necessary, these (k or more) active nominees (verifiers) can prove its validity to a third party. In this scheme, the secret shares are generated and en- crypted by the original signer. At the same time, the ciphertexts of the secret shares are used as parts of the signature. Then, the secret shares need not be sent to the nominees (verifiers) secretly. The ordinary nominative proxy signature can be viewed as a (1, 1) threshold nominative proxy signature. The ordinary nominative proxy signature can be viewed as a special case of a (k, n) threshold nominative proxy signature. According to the security analysis of this paper, it is found that our scheme is secure against a proxy signing key forgery attack and existential forgery on an adaptive chosen message attack.
