Reliability of a Multiple-Demand Multistate Air Transport Network With Flight Delays and Budget Constraints

Air transport plays an important role in supporting the global tourism industry. An unstable or uncertain air transport network leads to passenger dissatisfaction;therefore, a performance assessment is crucial to the management processes of travel agencies. Flights in an air transport network may be delayed by several factors when the travel time and cost significantly affect passenger satisfaction. This study evaluates reliability as the probability of successfully fulfilling multiple demands under the budget and time constraints with the impacts of flight delays, demonstrating the ability to satisfy passengers. Employing the minimal path concept, this study first models a multiple-demand multistate air transport network considering flight delays (MSAD) then identifies feasible minimal paths under the budget and time constraints and their maximum time-delay vectors. Reliability then is derived from all flow vectors that enable transport as required and their corresponding time-delay vectors. This study aims at an efficient algorithm that provides managers of travel agencies with insight into their MSAD and a basis for managerial decisions. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this article, we propose to study a novel research problem to boost group performance, that is, social-aware diversity-optimized group extraction (SDGE), which takes into consideration the two important factors: 1) group diversity and 2) social tightness. We prove the NP-hardness of SDGE and propose an effective algorithm, named group shrinking for diversity maximization (GSDM) with a performance guarantee, that is, GSDM is a three-approximation algorithm to the SDGE problem studied in this article. We further propose three effective pruning strategies that are able to boost the efficiency of GSDM but do not deteriorate its performance. We conduct extensive experiments on multiple large-scale real datasets to evaluate the performance of GSDM. The experimental results show that our proposed GSDM outperforms the other baseline approaches significantly, in terms of solution quality and efficiency. Moreover, the experimental results also confirm that our proposed pruning strategies indeed boost the efficiency of the algorithm. © 2014 IEEE.

Vehicular ad hoc Networks (VANETs) can be designed in a way to organize road protection with no specific need for any fixed infrastructure. Accordingly, the movement of all vehicles can be planned according to perceived information, and Quality of Services Routing (QoSR) algorithms can be pressured according to its available options, paths, and links, and according to the criteria and reliability of the QoSR. Ensure that QoSR is aware of the environment of the network of vehicles, including location of vehicles, direction, and speed. This study is to reduce the effects of unpredictable problems on the best pathway to replace the broken path/link. A QoSR with Particle Swarm Optimization (QoSR-PSO) is used in this article for improving QoSs in vehicular ad hoc networks. By modeling the behavior of a group of particles, particle swarm optimization algorithms find the best possible solution to the problem. In order to perform simulation experiments, NS2 simulator and VanetMobisim have been used. The comparison results with benchmark studies show the improvement in packet delivery rate (PDR), delay, Packet Drop, and overload. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Secure and Privacy-Preserving Human Interaction Recognition of Pervasive Healthcare Monitoring

A cloud-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) service has recently empowered the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) in many applications on the remote Human Interaction Recognition of Pervasive Healthcare Monitoring (HIR-PHM). In this work, a framework of the skeleton-based HIR-PHM under secure Edge-Fog-Cloud computing (EFCC) was proposed to manage the computation and storage resources, latency, cyber-attack, and privacy-preserving simultaneously. At the Edge, IoMT with a camera, record the human interaction as videos and sends them to the Fog, which installed a human pose estimation model, PoseNet, to convert the videos into human skeleton data. At the Cloud, a skeleton-based Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolution Network with Pairwise Adjacency Matrix (STGCN-PAM) was employed to recognize the human interaction. A Hybrid of One Time Password (OTP), Hashed Messages Authentication Code (HMAC), and symmetric cipher were employed to secure the skeleton data. The UT-Interaction dataset was used to evaluate the proposed framework. Besides, the computation performance and latency under EFCC were compared with Edge-Fog and Edge-Cloud deployments. Experimental results confirmed two major contributions: 1) the proposed framework has promising performance compared with other methods on the dataset. 2) The skeleton-based HIR-PHM with secure EFCC shows the advantages of better computation performance in terms of frame per second. © 2013 IEEE.

Diagnosability is an important parameter to measure the fault tolerance of a multiprocessor system. If we only care about the state of a node, instead of doing the global diagnosis, Hsu and Tan proposed the idea of local diagnosis. Chiang and Tan provided an extended star structure to diagnose a node under comparison model. In this work, we evaluate the local diagnosability better by proposing a tree structure around this node. We provide the corresponding algorithm to diagnose the node. Simulation results are presented for different failure probability of a node in the tree and different percentage of faulty nodes in the tree, showing the performance of our algorithm. © 2024 Institute of Information science. Following the release of CHATGPT in November 2022, both textual and visual LLMs evolved a long way. Several comments have been made by experts on the expertise and intelligence possessed by these Large Language Models;Amongst all, the contest between Human and Machine Intelligence is that discussion that catches great heights. This research focuses on the analytical and reasoning abilities of LLMs and further compares them to those of Human Intelligence. As a benchmark for the same, the CSES Problem Set, a well-structured set of algorithmic problems, touches a wide spectrum of computational syllabi, like Data Structures, mathematics, Decision Theory, etc. Our analysis of the contrast in abilities leads to the conclusion that LLMs need a long way to go, and thus LLM researchers rather than modeling more and more visually appealing LLMs (like Sora, Dall-e, etc.) should focus more on the abilities of the existing textual models like CHATGPT. Our research shows that the Machine Intelligence is ≈ 46 % lower than that of the Human Intelligence. © 2024 IEEE.
