We measure photoelectron angular distributions of noble gases in intense elliptically polarized laser fields, which indicate strong structure-dependent Coulomb asymmetry. Using a dedicated semiclassical model, we have disentangled the contribution of direct ionization and multiple forward scattering on Coulomb asymmetry in elliptical laser fields. Our theory quantifies the roles of the ionic potential and initial transverse momentum on Coulomb asymmetry, proving that the small lobes of asymmetry are induced by direct ionization and the strong asymmetry is induced by multiple forward scattering in the ionic potential. Both processes are distorted by the Coulomb force acting on the electrons after tunneling. Lowering the ionization potential, the relative contribution of direct ionization on Coulomb asymmetry substantially decreases and Coulomb focusing on multiple rescattering is more important. We do not observe evident initial longitudinal momentum spread at the tunnel exit according to our simulation.

This paper is to summarize the recent advancements of Reactor Monte Carlo code RMC. The capability of shielding calculations and improved variance reduction techniques have been developed in RMC code. A hybrid message-passing and shared-memory approach has been implemented in RMC, fully utilizing the available computing resources. A new merging strategy based on the virtual mesh was proposed and investigated for large scale burnup problems of stochastic media. The adjoint superhistory method was proposed for sensitivity analysis. A subchannel module (RMC-TH) is embedded inside the RMC in order to consider the thermal-hydraulic feedback. The inline equilibrium Xenon method has been implemented in RMC to solve the problem of numerical Xenon oscillation. Integrated parallel methods which include data decomposition and spatial domain decomposition are investigated based on RMC, to handle the memory problem in full core detailed burnup calculations.

We suggest the use of alternative distance measures for similarity based classification in Learning Vector Quantization. Divergences can be employed whenever the data consists of non-negative normalized features, which is the case for, e.g., spectral data or histograms. As examples, we derive gradient based training algorithms in the framework of Generalized Learning Vector Quantization based on the so-called Cauchy-Schwarz divergence and a non-symmetric Renyi divergence. As a first test we apply the methods to two different biomedical data sets and compare with the use of standard Euclidean distance.

We study quantum chaos in a non-KAM system exemplified by a particle in an infinite potential well subject to a periodic kicking force. For a small perturbation K, the classical phase space displays a stochastic web structure, and the diffusion coefficient scales as D∝K2.5. However, in the large K regime, D∝K2. Quantum mechanically, we observe that the level spacing statistics of the quasieigenenergies changes from Poisson to Wigner distribution as K increases. The quasieigenstates are power-law localized for small K and extended for large K. Possible experimental realization of this model is also discussed.

The geometries, electronic structures, polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities, as well as the UV-Vis spectra of the two organic dye sensitizers containing bis-dimethylfluorenyl amino benzofuran were studied via density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT. The features of electronic absorption spectra were assigned on account of the agreement between the experiment and the calculations. The absorption bands in visible region are related to photoinduced electron transfer processes, and the dimethylfluorenyl amino benzo[b]furan groups are major chromophore that contributed to the sensitization of photo-to-current conversion. The role of vinylene group in geometry, electronic structure and spectra property is analyzed according to the comparative study of the dyes.
