This study investigates the vibrational behavior of a mild steel cantilever beam with and without an attached end mass using experimental, numerical, analytical, and computational methods. Vibrational frequencies were determined using LABVIEW, MATLAB, and SOLIDWORKS, with analytical results derived from Euler-Bernoulli beam (EBB) theory. Experimental results closely matched MATLAB simulations, with an average percentage error of 1.44%, but showed a 14.44% deviation from analytical results due to neglected accelerometer mass. Findings highlight the importance of precise modeling, accounting for factors like damping and mass effects, to achieve accurate results. The study underscores the significance of resonant frequency identification in mitigating vibration failures in engineering systems. © 2025 The Author(s)

This working-in-progress paper aims to present a three-dimensional reconstruction using aerial images in different environments. The experiments were conducted with aircraft in both external and internal settings, starting with image acquisition, followed by the application of specific photogrammetry software—both commercial and open-source—and concluding with a qualitative evaluation of the results.

We define notions of pivotal and ribbon objects in a monoidal category. These constructions give pivotal or ribbon monoidal categories from a monoidal category which is not necessarily with duals. A Hamiltonian reduction approach is defined, studied, and finally used to derive asymptotic models of internal wave propagation in density stratified fluids in two-dimensional domains. Beginning with the general Hamiltonian formalism of Benjamin [1] for an ideal, stably stratified Euler fluid, the corresponding structure is systematically reduced to the setup of two homogeneous fluids under gravity, separated by an interface and confined between two infinite horizontal plates. A long-wave, small-amplitude asymptotics is then used to obtain a simplified model that encapsulates most of the known properties of the dynamics of such systems, such as bidirectional wave propagation and maximal amplitude travelling waves in the form of fronts. Further reductions, and in particular devising an asymptotic extension of Dirac’s theory of Hamiltonian constraints, lead to the completely integrable evolution equations previously considered in the literature for limiting forms of the dynamics of stratified fluids. Disordered hyperuniform many-particle systems are recently discovered exotic states of matter, characterized by the complete suppression of normalized infinite-wavelength density fluctuations, as in perfect crystals, while lacking conventional long-range order, as in liquids and glasses. In this work, we begin a program to quantify the structural properties of nonhyperuniform and hyperuniform networks. In particular, large two-dimensional (2D) Voronoi networks (graphs) containing approximately 10,000 nodes are created from a variety of different point configurations, including the antihyperuniform hyperplane intersection process (HIP), nonhyperuniform Poisson process, nonhyperuniform random sequential addition (RSA) saturated packing, and both non-stealthy and stealthy hyperuniform point processes. We carry out an extensive study of the Voronoi-cell area distribution of each of the networks by determining multiple metrics that characterize the distribution, including their average areas and corresponding variances as well as higher-order cumulants (i.e., skewness γ1 and excess kurtosis γ2). We show that the HIP distribution is far from Gaussian, as evidenced by a high skewness (γ1=3.16) and large positive excess kurtosis (γ2=16.2). The Poisson (with γ1=1.07 and γ2=1.79) and non-stealthy hyperuniform (with γ1=0.257 and γ2=0.0217) distributions are Gaussian-like distributions, since they exhibit a small but positive skewness and excess kurtosis. The RSA (with γ1=0.450 and γ2=−0.0384) and the highest stealthy hyperuniform distributions (with γ1=0.0272 and γ2=−0.0626) are also non-Gaussian because of their low skewness and negative excess kurtosis, which is diametrically opposite of the non-Gaussian behavior of the HIP. The fact that the cell-area distributions of large, finite-sized RSA and stealthy hyperuniform networks (e.g., with N≈10,000 nodes) are narrower, have larger peaks, and smaller tails than a Gaussian distribution implies that in the thermodynamic limit th

In this work, we present a unified framework of phase-field-based multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann (MRT-LB) method for incompressible multiphase flows with density and viscosity contrasts where a block-lower-triangular relaxation matrix is introduced. The present framework includes the classic MRT-LB model and central-moments-based LB model (CLBM, a particular version of the MRT-LB model). The governing equations of incompressible multiphase flows can be reproduced precisely through the direct Taylor expansion method at the second-order of expansion parameters. In this work, the pressure $p$ is re-estimated, and we prove that the present pressure expression is suitable for classic MRT model, CLBM and various lattice structures. In addition, theoretical analysis and modeling are both carried out in the velocity space. As a result, the present model has a similar structure to the traditional Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) model and is very easy to analyze and implement. We then test the present model (mainly CLBM) by five classic physical problems. The results show that the present model is found to be accurate and has better numerical stability over the BGK model, and has the ability to simulate multiphase flow problems with large density ratio ($1000$). © 2022, The Authors. Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) have emerged recently because of numerous advantages, as these are characterized by locally generated electricity from renewable energy sources (RESs) controlled by individuals, enterprises, and public administrations. This article focuses on the development of a mathematical model to investigate the time-dependent behavior of RECs with an overview of the technical, economic, and environmental scenario. The economic viability and overall profitability of incorporating electric vehicles (EVs) into a photovoltaic (PV)-based REC that consists of consumers and prosumers are assessed in this study. Key economic parameters, for instance Net Present Value (NPV), Levelized cost of energy (LCOE), and payback period (PP), are included in the mathematical model, and, additionally, CO 2 emission analysis has been considered. A sensitivity analysis of the REC has been carried out to focus on the impact of various parameters considered in our configuration. Moreover, the saving of CO 2 emissions and economic benefits have been evaluated. The mathematical and numerical model could represent a useful tool for policymakers, the Government, stakeholders, and participants to analyze the advantages of building a REC.

The discussion about how to put together Gentzen’s systems for classical and intuitionistic logic in a single unified system is back in fashion. Indeed, recently Prawitz and others have been discussing the so called ecumenical Systems, where connectives from these logics can co-exist in peace. In Prawitz’ system, the classical logician and the intuitionistic logician would share the universal quantifier, conjunction, negation, and the constant for the absurd, but they would each have their own existential quantifier, disjunction, and implication, with different meanings. Prawitz’ main idea is that these different meanings are given by a semantical framework that can be accepted by both parties.
