The papers in this volume were the fruitful scientific results of the Second International Conference on Social Robotics (ICSR), held during November 23–24, 2010 in Singapore, which was jointly organized by the Social Robotics Laboratory (SRL), Interactive Digital media Institute (IDMI), the National University of Singapore and 2 Human Language technologydepartment, the Institute for Infocomm Research (I R), A*STAR, Singapore. These papers address a range of topics in social robotics and its applications. We received paper submissions from America, Asia, and Europe. All the papers were reviewed by at least three referees from the 32-member Program Committee who were assembled from the global community of social robotics researchers. This v- ume contains the 42 papers that were selected to report on the latest developments and studies of social robotics in the areas of human––robot interaction; affective and cognitive sciences for interactive robots; design philosophies and software archit- tures for robots; learning, adaptation and evolution of robotic intelligence; and mec- tronics and intelligent control.

The international multi-topic conference IMTIC 2008 was held in Pakistan during April 11–12, 2008. It was a joint venture between Mehran University, Jamshoro, Sindh and Aalborg University, Esbjerg, Denmark. Apart from the two-day main event, two workshops were also held: the Workshop on Creating Social Semantic Web 2.0 Information Spaces and the Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks. Two hundred participants registered for the main conference from 24 countries and 43 papers were presented; the two workshops had overwhelming support and over 400 delegates registered. IMTIC 2008 served as a platform for international scientists and the engineering community in general, and in particular for local scientists and the engineering c- munity to share and cooperate in various fields of interest. The topics presented had a reasonable balance between theory and practice in multidisciplinary topics. The c- ference also had excellent topics covered by the keynote speeches keeping in view the local requirements, which served as a stimulus for students as well as experienced participants. The Program Committee and various other committees were experts in their areas and each paper went through a double-blind peer review process. The c- ference received 135 submissions of which only 46 papers were selected for presen- tion: an acceptance rate of 34%.

After further review and discussions among the authors, we want to do further experiment to improve the existing premature results. Specifically, authors want to add more complex analysis to support the results. Given the importance of maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, we believe that withdrawal is the most appropriate course of action. All authors are fully aware of this decision and have agreed to the withdrawal. We have had several rounds of correspondence regarding this matter, and all authors have been included in these communications to ensure transparency and prevent any potential disputes in the future.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Social Robotics, ICSR 2011, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in November 2011. The 23 revised full papers were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and improvement from 51 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on social interaction with robots; nonverbal interaction with social robots; robots in society; social robots in education; affective interaction with social robots; robots in the home.

The integration of generative AI in visual art has revolutionized not only how visual content is created but also how AI interacts with and reflects the underlying domain knowledge. This survey explores the emerging realm of diffusion-based visual art creation, examining its development from both artistic and technical perspectives. We structure the survey into three phases, data feature and framework identification, detailed analyses using a structured coding process, and open-ended prospective outlooks. Our findings reveal how artistic requirements are transformed into technical challenges and highlight the design and application of diffusion-based methods within visual art creation. We also provide insights into future directions from technical and synergistic perspectives, suggesting that the confluence of generative AI and art has shifted the creative paradigm and opened up new possibilities. By summarizing the development and trends of this emerging interdisciplinary area, we aim to shed light on the mechanisms through which AI systems emulate and possibly, enhance human capacities in artistic perception and creativity.

This volume brings together the advanced research results obtained by the European COST Action 2102 "Cross Modal Analysis of Verbal and Nonverbal Communication", primarily discussed at the PINK SSPnet-COST2102 International Conference on Analysis of Verbal and Nonverbal Communication and Enactment: The Processing Issues, held in Budapest, Hungary, in September 2010.
The 40 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The volume is arranged into two scientific sections. The first section, Multimodal Signals: Analysis, Processing and Computational Issues, deals with conjectural and processing issues of defining models, algorithms, and heuristic strategies for data analysis, coordination of the data flow and optimal encoding of multi-channel verbal and nonverbal features. The second section, Verbal and Nonverbal Social Signals, presents original studies that provide theoretical and practical solutions to the modelling of timing synchronization between linguistic and paralinguistic expressions, actions, body movements, activities in human interaction and on their assistance for an effective human-machine interactions.
