Advancements in electrical engineering and signal processing can enable the development of automated sleep data analysis systems that embody significantly more advantages than their traditional manual counterparts. Recent approaches to automated sleep stage classification are considered from the PICO framework (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). Traditionally, PSG/EEG-based sleep studies were a laborious and time-consuming process. Despite this, significant promise is being offered from promising stride development in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) technologies for full automation of sleep stage scoring. study are applied on data available from the SleepEDF public PSG Hypnogram dataset that combines EOG signal processing along with other physiological signals to classify sleep into five stages. Segmented the raw signals into epochs and passed through four different machine learning models: Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Bagging Classifier, and Ensemble Learning. Those accuracies were classified using criteria such as accuracy percentages of 78% for Random Forest, 79% for Gradient Boosting, 75% for Bagging Classifier, and 85% for Ensemble Learning. The comparison has demonstrated Ensemble Learning as the most accurate model and, hence, has shown prospects for being implemented into consumer-grade sleep monitoring devices. The results of the experiment, besides highlighting the advantages of automated systems in classification tasks of sleep stages, suggest possible applications in real-world sleep tracking. © 2024 IEEE.

To improve accuracy of localize suspicious lesion region in dermatoscopic images using Region Growing, the initial step based on fuzzy sets to enhance the lesion region of interest (ROI) is developed. The result of skin lesion detection is used to extract Asymmetry, Border Irregularity, Color Variation, Diameter (ABCD) features for melanoma skin cancer diagnosis. ABCD feature is the rule that is used dermatologist for obtain the important information of image dermatoscopic lesion. This feature is used to diagnose melanoma skin cancer based on Total Dermatoscopic Value (TDV). There are three diagnosis that is used on this research i.e. melanoma, suspicious, and benign skin lesion. The experiment uses 30 samples of image dermatoscopic lesion that is suspicious melanoma skin cancer. Based on the experiment, the accuracy using fuzzy region growing is 86.6% that there are 4 false diagnoses of 30 samples. But the accuracy using region growing is 76.6% that there are 7 false of 30 samples.

Wake effects generated by wind turbines causes the strong wake interactions among turbines and thus significantly lowers the power output of wind farm. However, it is generally difficult to model the interactions between turbines due to its complexity. To mitigate the wake interactions and thus improve the power output of wind farm, this paper proposes a model-free optimization scheme. The power optimization problem of wind farm is divided into several optimization sub-problems according to the power efficiencies of wind farm under different wind directions. Each optimization sub-problem is solved approximately by developed power optimization algorithm based on Nelder-Mead method. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can quickly and effectively improve the power output of wind farm in complex wind condition without modeling the wake interactions among the turbines. © 2020 IEEE.

User interaction has always been one of the most crucial points when evaluating the quality of experience of a service. Mobile television, especially when received over DVB-H or in other small bandwidth transmission environments such as UMTS networks, imposes some restrictions to this interaction, since switching from one channel to another requires an indefinite amount of time. It is therefore necessary to describe the technical foundations leading to these delays. Moreover, methods need to be developed to render channel switching times more appealing.

Chronic illnesses are becoming more common as a result of the current environmental conditions;most people prefer IoT to take care of their own health. The (IoT) plays a significant role in each and every industry that simplifies life. IoT also plays an important part in the medical field by routinely monitoring the health condition of patients in remote areas. While IoT methods for solving for a smarter living, it also has some problems while transmitting data, which is similar to the type of threat that occurs during transmitting data in WSN. When compared to other types of networks, the data transmitted in smart health monitoring is extremely sensitive. Various sorts of attacks occur during data transfer, such as sinkholes, worm holes, and grey holes, among others. To counteract these assaults, a hybrid Rabin algorithm and a modified routing method are proposed for data security. These algorithms provide 99.0% accuracy in data delivery while detecting attacks and increasing efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Based on the Reading Answering System (RAS) in S. T. Pham and D. T. Nguyen (2013), this paper aims to present a novel computational and inferential method for computing the semantics of phrase and sentence in Vietnamese in order to build the textual knowledge base of Vietnamese Question Answering System Model (VietQASM). The VietQASM is a Vietnamese question answering system model, which is capable to answer many types of questions about series of events and questions having many interrogative objects. The VietQASM composes three main elements: i) a set of semantic models for phrases, ii) a set of semantic models for sentences, iii) a semantic processing mechanism for analyzing sentences. © 2015 IEEE.

Bidirectional dual-bridge dc/dc converter with high frequency isolation is gaining more attentions in renewable energy system due to small size and high-power density. In this paper, a dual-bridge series resonant dc/dc converter is analyzed with two simple modified ac equivalent circuit analysis methods for both voltage source load and resistive load. In both methods, only fundamental components of voltages and currents are considered. All the switches may work in either zero-voltage-switching or zero-current-switching for a wide variation of voltage gain, which is important in renewable energy generation. It is also shown in the second method that the load side circuit could be represented with an equivalent impedance. The polarity of cosine value of this equivalent impedance angle reveals the power flow direction. The analysis is verified with computer simulation results. Experimental data based on a 200 W prototype circuit is included for validation purpose. © 2006 IEEE.

Home and building automation systems (HBAS) today are categorized by plethora of data formats, communication platforms and software services accessible via heterogeneous embedded devices. These heterogeneous embedded devices characterized a building into a data intensive entity, generating numerous data and complex control information, brings a much heavy load to the HBAS. Consequently, this leads to interoperation difficulties among those devices for information exchange and operation management. In this paper, a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based framework that leveraged by services is proposed to manage HBAS efficiently by reducing their workload during joint execution of tasks. The proposed framework consists of several layers dedicated for services interwoven by Event-Condition-Action (ECA) oriented decision mechanism for managing heterogeneous embedded devices. The proposed framework is viable and highly efficient to be deployed for HBAS with limited computing resources. © 2014 SERSC.

In recent years, Virtual Learning has gained wide popularity among the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to promote holistic education. Reviews have proven that Virtual Learning has proliferated over the years and it has created a dynamic learning culture among the 21st Century learners. These young learners from the digital age have different learning styles and vernaculars as they are much more diverse. It is also noted that it is challenging to keep these learners engaged in learning due to those differences. Therefore, it is vital to identify a learning tool that caters to these young learners from a diverse background and simultaneously optimize their learning satisfaction. To address these momentous issues, this research study aims to identify the design factors or specifications of a Virtual Agent (VA) deployed in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to maximize learner’s satisfaction. In this exploratory study, the researchers have adapted Kansei Engineering (KE) approach that uses the quantitative analysis to identify the design factors of Virtual Agent. The respondents are undergraduate students from a HEI in Malaysia (N=107). The findings suggest that KE modus operandi had successfully paved the way for an effective design of VA that has high aesthetic value and identified attractiveness and expertness as key factors in VA design. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

Blockchain-based Trusty Buyer Coalition Scheme Using A Group Signature

Without trust, buyers may not join a coalition. Despite the tremendous need for trustworthy relationships in buyer coalitions, no current buyer coalition scheme explicitly tackles confidence issues with blockchain technology. This study proposes an algorithmic design, the blockchain-based trusty buyer coalition scheme, to satisfy the trust requirement among different actors while forming the coalition. All activities forming a coalition through a decentralized public ledger can be explicitly examined. Consequently, the proposed algorithm can ensure anonymity within a community, resulting in trusting relationships. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can ensure correctness and accountability by recognizing misbehavior and enforcing alternative forms of punishment. Additionally, the discovered algorithm can be applied to mobile commerce applications. © 2021 River Publishers
