Rule-induction models have demonstrated great power in the inductive setting of knowledge graph completion. In this setting, the models are tested on a knowledge graph entirely composed of unseen entities. These models learn relation patterns as rules by utilizing subgraphs. Providing the same inputs with different rules leads to differences in the model’s predictions. In this paper, we focus on the behavior of such models. We propose a re-ranking-based model called ReDistLP (Re-ranking with a Distinct Model for Link Prediction). This model enhances the effectiveness of re-ranking by leveraging the difference in the predictions between the initial retriever and the re-ranker. ReDistLP outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in 2 out of 3 benchmarks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Exploring the potential of technology in addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within intricate rural contexts holds paramount significance. Sustainable rural development holds profound significance for both developed and developing nations. This study was conducted to develop a methodological framework for placing experts with strategically relevant competencies to meet the specific needs of villages, thus enabling the practical application of their expertise in generating innovative solutions to problems in a village. This study entails several pivotal phases. Firstly, it constructs a Community Standard of Living Index (CSLI) using Delphi and Rank Reciprocal (RR). Secondly, it establishes village clustering through a hybrid Fuzzy C-Means (FCM), Self-Organizing Map (SOM), and Xie-Beni (XB). Thirdly, a classification of village development levels is created using Tsukamoto and Smallest of Maximum (SM). Finally, recommendations for placing experts in villages, aligning their skills with identified needs using the Cosine Similarity (CS). The results obtained are compared with factual data of each village to obtain relevant conclusions, where an accuracy value of 0.95 indicates a high success rate in the test results of the proposed technique. This study has the potential to significantly enhance decision-making by introducing opportunities for the development of hybrid methodologies in expert mapping for rural issues. © 2024 Regional Association for Security and crisis management. Statistical physical view of statistical inference in Bayesian linear regression model

This paper considers similarities between statistical physics and Bayes inference through the Bayesian linear regression model. Some similarities have been discussed previously, such as the analogy between the marginal likelihood in Bayes inference and the partition function in statistical mechanics. In particular, this paper considers the proposal to associate discrete sample size with inverse temperature [C. H. LaMont and P. A. Wiggins, Phys. Rev. E 99, 052140 (2019)]. The previous study suggested that incorporating this similarity motivates the derivation of analogs of thermodynamic functions such as energy and entropy. The study also anticipated that those analogous functions have potential to describe Bayes estimation from physical points of view and to provide physical insights into mechanisms of estimation. This paper incorporates a macroscopic perspective as an asymptotics similar to the thermodynamic limit into the previous suggestion. Its motivation stems from the statistical mechanical concept of deriving thermodynamic functions that characterize macroscopic properties of macroscopic systems. This incorporation not only allows analogs of macroscopic thermodynamic functions to be considered but also suggests a candidate for an analog of inverse temperature with continuity, which is partly consistent with the previous proposal to associate the discrete sample size with inverse temperature. On the basis of this suggestion, we analyze analogs of macroscopic thermodynamic functions for a Bayesian linear regression model which is the basis of various machine learning models. We further investigate, through the behavior of these functions, how Bayes estimation is described from the perspective of physics and what kind of physical insight is obtained. In this paper, we propose a method of fundamental solution for two-dimensional doubly periodic problems, especially potential flow problems with a doubly periodic array of obstacles. In the proposed method, we approximate the solution, which involves doubly periodic functions, by a linear combination of the logarithmic potentials consisting of the theta functions. The method inherits the efficiency of the ordinary method of fundamental solutions and gives an approximate solution that has the same periodicity as the one of the exact solution. Text Clustering of Tafseer Translations by Using k-means Algorithm: An Al-Baqarah Chapter View

Al-Quran is Muslims’ main book of belief and behaviour. The Al-Quran is used as a reference book by millions of Muslims worldwide, and as such, it is useful for Muslims in general and Muslim academics to gain knowledge from it. Many translators have worked on the Quran’s translation into many different languages around the world, including English. Thus, every translator has his/her own perspectives, statements, and opinions when translating verses acquired from the (Tafseer) of the Quran. However, this work aims to cluster these variations among translations of the Tafseer by utilising text clustering. As a part of the text mining approach, text clustering includes clustering documents according to how similar they are. This study adapted the (k-means) clustering technique algorithm (unsupervised learning) to illustrate and discover the relationships between keywords called features or concepts for five different translators on the 286 verses of the Al-Baqarah chapter. The datasets have been preprocessed, and features extracted by applying TF-IDF (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency). The findings show two/three-dimensional clustering plotting for the first two/three most frequent features assigned to seven cluster categories (k = 7) for each of five translated Tafseer. The features ‘allah/god’, ‘believ’, and ‘said’ are the three most features shared by the five Tafseer. © 2023 by the author(s).

Farmers and agricultural newcomers often rely on intuition for plant nutrient management, leading to inaccuracies. This study presents a real-time soil nutrient monitoring and plant recommendation system using IoT and machine learning. The prototype integrates an ESP32 microcontroller, NPK sensor, soil pH sensor, and DHT11 with an application and a machine learning model. The model employs a hard voting method combining random forest, LightGBM, and support vector machine algorithms, deployed via Flask API and hosted on Vercel. Testing showed the system effectively monitors soil nutrients in real-time, with a pH sensor error margin of ±0.51 and NPK sensor readings displaying a non-linear increase in levels. The hard voting method achieved 98.5% accuracy, with recommendation processing taking less than one second (371.17ms) and CPU usage at 7%. System performance depends on internet speed, while recommendation accuracy is influenced by temperature and humidity. This system offers a practical solution for precision agriculture by optimizing nutrient application and plant recommendations. © 2024 IEEE.

In helicopter satellite communications, the periodic blockage of the transmission channel arises due to rotor blades. Modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM) overcomes the periodic blockage. In MWHCDM, estimating the symbol timing offset (STO) is necessary to perform demultiplexing. The carrier frequency offset (CFO) significantly degrades the accuracy of STO estimation. Thus, STO estimation requires estimating and removing the CFO, although CFO estimation is only possible without STO. This paper proposes a joint CFO and STO estimation method to resolve this dilemma, combining the CFO and STO estimation to complement each other. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method accurately estimates both CFO and STO. © 2024 IEEE.

In helicopter satellite communications, the periodic blockage (PB) of the transmission channel occurs due to rotor blades. Modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM) is suitable for helicopter satellite communications because it has the anti-PB capability, corresponding to 2-branch time diversity. This paper proposes MWHCDM with enhanced anti-PB capability. The proposed MWHCDM implicitly performs 4-branch time diversity processing through multiplexing by trading off with spectral efficiency. Computer simulations show that the proposed MWHCDM achieves excellent bit error rate (BER) performance close to the lower bound in the PB channel with zero-forcing (ZF) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection. As a result, the proposed MWHCDM outperforms the conventional MWHCDM and the simple (non-multiplexed) 4-branch time diversity. © 2024 IEEE.

Modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM) is effective for helicopter satellite communications, where the rotor blades block the transmission channel pe-riodically. This paper addresses reducing peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) for MWHCDM, applying a selected mapping (SLM) method without side information, proposed for orthogonal frequecy division multiplexing (OFDM) previously, to MWHCDM. The SLM method is especially suitable for the primary modu-lation of quaternary phase-shift keying (QPSK), although the primary modulation of MWHCDM is binary phase-shift keying (BPSK). A novel multiplexing processing based on the structure of MWHCDM signals resolves this mismatch. In addition, introducing amplitude information to the evaluation function employed for blind estimation of phase sequence enhances the estimation performance. Computer simulation shows that the proposed SLM method achieves excellent PAPR reduction and phase sequence estimation performance, causing no degradation in bit error rate (BER) performance. © 2024 IEEE.
