Background: In today's data-driven era, 'Openness' promotes transparency and accessibility. This trend is particularly relevant in new initiatives like the European Health Data Space or when processing health data. This article focuses on Diabetes, which relies on real-time medical device data, such as continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), insulin pumps or hybrid closed-loop systems. These devices provide vital information for monitoring and adjusting treatment plans, making real-time access to their data critical for effective diabetes ***: We explore real-time data access for third-party applications, emphasising primary (treatment) and secondary (research) use. Our exploration includes analysing how Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) contribute to secure data retrieval. Additionally, we investigate the impact of terms of service and copyright law on patient-driven innovation within open-source ***: We evaluated current diabetes medical devices and software solutions in Norway, emphasising their real-time data provision capabilities and API functionality. The study also addresses the legal frameworks relevant to these devices and software, particularly the needs of open-source DIY communities, and proposes an interoperability ***: Our research identified seven diabetes medical devices and nine regulated software solutions, with only one offering a publicly accessible API. This finding underlines a significant lack of real-time data access options. The analysis compares vendor-specific and open-source software, highlighting substantial limitations in interoperability and data accessibility. With incorporating of multiplicative white noise, we assess the Itô-coupled NLSE and STD in two and one dimensions with Kerr law nonlinearity and birefringent fibers. Light dynamics in birefringent fibers, including the propagation of soliton waves, the instability of modulation, and the occurrence of stochastic events, all have a connection to this issue. The study aims to facilitate in the growth of fiber lasers, benefiting fields such as in the fields of material processing, medicine, and communications. To achieve this, the $$\Phi ^{6}$$ -model approach to expansion is adopted. In addition to Jacobi-elliptic solutions, this work’s analysis also yields dark solitons, bright solitons, singular solitons, and periodic solutions. Because of such results, fiber laser systems in industries like manufacturing, medicine, and communications may be improved upon. The Jacobi-elliptic solution, as well as bright and dark solitons, may be seen in both one- and two-dimensional representations.

Accurate wind speed and power predictions are crucial for renewable wind energy applications. This study compares and evaluates twelve machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms, including single and ensemble models across various time scales from 10 min to a day and a half ahead with a particular focus on ensemble prediction algorithms. Moreover, the study proposes a wind speed and power prediction system where the outcome of the wind speed prediction (WSP) model serves as input for the wind power prediction (WPP) model. Several evaluation metrics, such as mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and mean square error (MSE) were calculated to benchmark different model accuracies. For WSP, the extremely randomized trees, decision tree, and bagging ensemble algorithms demonstrated high accuracy across different time scales where the MAPE ranged from 3.4% to 9.2%, the MSE ranged from 0.17 to 1.15, and the adjusted coefficient of determination ranged from 94% to 99%. For WPP, bagging ensemble algorithms and extremely randomized trees were also effective for predicting different time scales where the MAPE ranged from 4.12% to 11.7% and the MSE ranged from 10945 to 2.4. Ensemble ML algorithms provide better and more accurate results than single ML algorithms. The extreme gradient boosting model showed relatively small computational time and memory according to computational cost. Moreover, this study conducted a sensitivity analysis where air pressure, wind vane, and humidity were the key predictors for WSP and WPP. © 2024 The Author(s)

Fruit juices and vegetable and fruit juices are the products, which provide our bodies with a lot of valuable and nutritional ingredients and play a major role in prevention of numerous illnesses. Raspberries are the valuable source of bioactive compounds. As part of preserving food, whose main aim is to extend stability of products obtained only in season, the researchers took advantage of spray drying technique. In the research part of the study, research samples were prepared in the form of raspberry powders obtained from the process of dehumidified spray drying. Because of the research, a neural model was made, which supported the evaluation of the quality of detecting powder samples based on their color. The devised neural network reached classification accuracy at 0.924. © 2022 SPIE.

The terrestrial evapotranspiration (ET) of the Qinghai‒Tibet Plateau (TP) has an essential role in regulating global atmospheric circulation. Daily ET values are is usually estimated from the Surface Energy Balance System (SEBS) model in conjunction with the evaporative fraction invariant method (SEBS-INV). However, this strategy has uncertainties. A growing number of studies use daily average factors to obtain daily-scale ecohydrological outcomes, while the use of daily average elements for daily ET estimations based on the SEBS model remains relatively unexplored. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the SEBS-INV strategy and the daily-scale SEBS model (SEBS-AVG) for estimating the daily ET over the TP region. Estimations of daily ET values were assessed at 6 sites across the TP region. The results indicate that the SEBS-INV yielded better daily ET values, with an average R2 of 0.5 and KGE of 0.46, while the average R2 and KGE values for the SEBS-AVG were 0.43 and 0.4, respectively. The analysis further found that the temperature difference between the atmosphere and the land surface (dT) was the most influential factor affecting the performance of both strategies. Notably, the SEBS-AVG shows more sensitivity to dT than SEBS-INV. In the case of RH>70%, the outputs of the two strategies exhibited similar performances. This paper aims to report on novel research results about developing a reinforcement learning agent for steady-state vehicle drift motion control. Based on the previous results of this research, the primary goal was to eliminate the problems causing learning instability experienced with the Soft Actor-Critic (SAC) algorithm applying Tabular Q-learning in this work. Trained in a MATLAB/Simulink-based simulation environment, the resulting agent succeeded in this task while being able to smoothly operate the vehicle to achieve and retain the desired target drift state, regardless of the discreet nature of the algorithm used for solving an inherently continuous task.

The designed cement content for laterite soil cement base or subbase for road construction can be estimated from the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of the compressed cement-stabilized laterite soil sample. However, at the actual construction site, several factors such as sulfate and flood adversely affect the strength and durability of the soil cement. Consequently, the cement content estimation under a normal circumstance may not be sufficient. This research aimed to investigate the effects of wetting and drying cycles (w-d cycles) and sulfate-soaked cycles on the strength and durability of cement-stabilized laterite. The result indicated that the 4% cement content is suitable for the laterite stabilized cement. After 12 w-d cycles, the strength loss of the sample soils soaked in water and in sulfate were 44% and 55% respectively. The durability index (ID) of both sample soils decreased with the increase in the w-d cycles. For soil cement base soaked in water and sulfate, the durability index should be lower than 0.88 or the weight loss should not exceed 12%. the results also indicated that for practical propose, the normalized strengths under wet and dry cycles were related by a linear relationship for the range of tested cement content, water content, and curing periods. This relationship is very useful for the calculation of the desired strength from the estimated optimal cement content for the soil cement base mainly focusing on the durability against the effects of w-d cycles soaked in water and sulfate at any repeated cycles. © 2022, The Authors. Aim: This paper is a research study investigating the magnitude and cost of waiting time as experienced by public transport users in Jordan. This study also used spatial analysis to measure services provided for public transport routes according to the average waiting time. Methods: The data for waiting time of public transport users were collected using field observation and a professional spatial analysis applied to identify several locations experiencing short time delays. Results: This study found a relationship between the total costs of waiting time, including wasted time and money, and revealed that the money spent by the passengers was more than their average monthly income. Conclusion: The findings can be used as valuable information for researchers, government policy-makers, and transport agencies to firstly, develop more punctual public transport modes;and secondly, manage public transport trips to minimize time delays. © 2019 Shtayat et al.

This study aims to develop a technical support model for the construction of zero-carbon buildings (ZCB). Accordingly, the study's objectives are to identify the components of the technical support model, analyze the causal relationships among the model components, and explore the impact of these components on the construction of ZCBs. The study identified 17 technological barriers to constructing ZCBs based on previous research, which were then used to create an online survey for distribution to construction professionals. A total of 272 valid responses were collected using non-probability and snowball sampling techniques. The collected data was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, partial least squares structural equation modeling, and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis. The exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 valid components: 1) inadequate technical support, 2) insufficient knowledge and infrastructure, 3) poor resources and immaturity, and 4) inadequate research and practical effort. After that, partial least squares structural equation modeling indicated that inadequate technical support has the strongest causal relationship compared to the other components. Meanwhile, the valid components revealed 4 configurations, offering a deeper understanding of the technical support model for ZCB construction. The present study provides a technical support model that can enhance understanding of the technological barriers to constructing ZCBs. This model allows practitioners to have a more comprehensive perspective, particularly to enable decision-makers to develop new strategies for future projects and offers academics a new resource to promote the construction of ZCBs worldwide. © 2025 The Authors
