Agile is a software development process method that is quickly becoming the industry's de facto standard. Every organisation seeks agility because it wants quick delivery and the ability to respond to rapidly changing client needs. Agile is a project management methodology that has aided many businesses in responding swiftly to changing market conditions. While agile methodology may be used to almost every situation, it was developed in India by a software development business. Customer happiness and overall productivity can both benefit from agile methods. Agile and scrum can be used separately, but their combined benefits make the methodology popular.

Aim: This paper is a research study investigating the magnitude and cost of waiting time as experienced by public transport users in Jordan. This study also used spatial analysis to measure services provided for public transport routes according to the average waiting time. Methods: The data for waiting time of public transport users were collected using field observation and a professional spatial analysis applied to identify several locations experiencing short time delays. Results: This study found a relationship between the total costs of waiting time, including wasted time and money, and revealed that the money spent by the passengers was more than their average monthly income. Conclusion: The findings can be used as valuable information for researchers, government policy-makers, and transport agencies to firstly, develop more punctual public transport modes;and secondly, manage public transport trips to minimize time delays. © 2019 Shtayat et al.

A technical support model for the construction of zero-carbon buildings

This study aims to develop a technical support model for the construction of zero-carbon buildings (ZCB). Accordingly, the study's objectives are to identify the components of the technical support model, analyze the causal relationships among the model components, and explore the impact of these components on the construction of ZCBs. The study identified 17 technological barriers to constructing ZCBs based on previous research, which were then used to create an online survey for distribution to construction professionals. A total of 272 valid responses were collected using non-probability and snowball sampling techniques. The collected data was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, partial least squares structural equation modeling, and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis. The exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 valid components: 1) inadequate technical support, 2) insufficient knowledge and infrastructure, 3) poor resources and immaturity, and 4) inadequate research and practical effort. After that, partial least squares structural equation modeling indicated that inadequate technical support has the strongest causal relationship compared to the other components. Meanwhile, the valid components revealed 4 configurations, offering a deeper understanding of the technical support model for ZCB construction. The present study provides a technical support model that can enhance understanding of the technological barriers to constructing ZCBs. This model allows practitioners to have a more comprehensive perspective, particularly to enable decision-makers to develop new strategies for future projects and offers academics a new resource to promote the construction of ZCBs worldwide. © 2025 The Authors

The Sustainability Nexus Analytics, Informatics, and Data (AID) Programme of the United Nations University (UNU), aims to provide information, data, computational, and analytical tools to support the sustainable management and long-term security of natural resources using a nexus approach. This paper introduces the Soil Health Module of the Sustainability Nexus AID Programme. Healthy soil is crucial for life on Earth, and it is essential for ecosystem services and functioning, access to clean water, socioeconomic structure, biodiversity, and food security for the growing population of the world. Healthy soils contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change and reduce the consequences of extreme events such as flooding and drought. Healthy soils influence the hydrologic cycle by regulating transpiration, water infiltration, and soil water evaporation affecting land–atmosphere interactions. The Soil Health Module of the UNU Sustainability Nexus AID Programme aims to evolve into the ultimate focal point, supporting a diverse array of stakeholders with state-of-the-art data and tools that are essential for soil health monitoring and projection. This paper discusses the importance of adopting a nexus approach for ensuring soil health, explores the AID tools currently at our disposal for quantifying and predicting soil health, and concludes with recommendations for future effort and direction within the Sustainability Nexus AID Programme concerning soil health.

infrastructure management renders a number of decision-making problems from assets condition inspections to maintenance planning and resources optimisation. Since management of infrastructure pertains to not only technical requirements but also to societal and economic developments, these decision problems have multiple and often conflicting objectives. Various methods of MCDA based on the decision theory and game theory are proposed to aid-in decision-making problems. Owing to the wide area of applications and extensive variation in MCDA methodology, the selection of appropriate MCDA method pertaining to the specific needs of infrastructure management and decision maker is a difficult task. In this paper, two synthesis-based methods (i.e. AHP and MAUT) and an outranking method (i.e. ELECTRE III) is applied on same maintenance decision making problem to evaluate them for their scalability, ease of use, risk consideration, and few other aspects. The results of evaluation suggest that a) without a computerised tool the scalability of these methods is tedious task b) only MAUT considers the risk attitude of a decision maker c) AHP and MAUT both require the data to be converted to definite scale for analysis, for instance, to Saaty scale of comparison and to utility functions respectively and d) unlike other two, ELECTRE works on preference structure and yields partial pre-orders. These aforementioned results are obtained by application of AHP, MAUT, and ELECTRE III on the maintenance planning decision problem of 22 road bridges from Netherlands road network. Despite the inherent methodology differences of these methods, the result of case study shows minor difference in ranking yielded by considered MCDA methods. © 2019 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

Adsorption mechanisms and the role of different porous and crystalline structures on the removal of five haloacetonitriles(HANs) over hexagonal mesoporous silica(HMS), titanium substituted mesoporous silica(Ti-HMS), rod-shaped SBA-15 and microporous zeolite Na Y were investigated. In addition, the effect of p H on adsorption mechanism and selective adsorption of five HANs individually and in an equimolar mixed solution were *** results indicated that the intraparticle diffusion rate constants of the mesoporous adsorbents were higher than that of the microporous Na Y. In single solute, the order of adsorption preference(highest to lowest) was mono-HANs > di-HANs > tri-HAN. However,in mixed solute, the large molecular weight of the tri-HAN and di-HANs are more easily adsorbed than the smaller molecular weight mono-HANs. Except for SBA-15, the order of adsorption capacities in mixed HANs solute was not different compared to that observed for the single HAN solute, which might be caused by the higher accessibility to the active sites due to larger pore size. The ion-dipole electrostatic interaction was likely to be the main adsorption mechanism, and was favored at high p H values due to the high negative surface charge density of the adsorbent. The molecular structure of the HANs and hydrophilic/hydrophobic nature affected the adsorption capacities and their selective adsorption from mixed solutes.

Household energy-saving interventions are essential in reducing energy consumption in residential buildings. One of the effective interventions is Household Energy-Saving Option (HESO). However, the pricing strategy of this innovative intervention has not been explored. This study aims to establish a feasible valuation strategy for HESO to facilitate the application of market-based energy-saving interventions among households. This study first provides a pricing strategy of HESO from a market zero-profit perspective. It continues by developing a price cap and floor for HESO's market price. The theoretical pricing model was validated by a field experiment consisting of two-tiered HESO trading among 67 households in Singapore. The results revealed decisive implications for both environmental policymakers and HESO suppliers. Policymakers are suggested to launch HESO in countries or regions with stable and relatively high electricity prices and low discount rates. HESO suppliers may choose to adjust rewards and duration accordingly when the market price deviates from the zero-profit equilibrium price of HESO. The valuation strategy of HESO also helps quantitative estimation of households’ perceived value of HESO. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
