ChatGPT, an AI-based chatbot, offers coherent and useful replies based on analysis of large volumes of data. In this article, leading academics, scientists, distinguish researchers and engineers discuss the transformative effects of ChatGPT on modern education. This research discusses ChatGPT capabilities and its use in the education sector, identifies potential concerns and challenges. Our preliminary evaluation shows that ChatGPT perform differently in different subject areas including finance, coding, maths, and general public queries. While ChatGPT has the ability to help educators by creating instructional content, offering suggestions and acting as an online educator to learners by answering questions, transforming education through smartphones and IoT gadgets, and promoting group work, there are clear drawbacks in its use, such as the possibility of producing inaccurate or false data and circumventing duplicate content (plagiarism) detectors where originality is essential. The often reported "hallucinations" within GenerativeAI in general, and also relevant for ChatGPT, can render its use of limited benefit where accuracy is essential. What ChatGPT lacks is a stochastic measure to help provide sincere and sensitive communication with its users. Academic regulations and evaluation practices used in educational institutions need to be updated, should ChatGPT be used as a tool in education. To address the transformative effects of ChatGPT on the learning environment, educating teachers and students alike about its capabilities and limitations will be crucial. © 2023 The Authors

Using the partitioned approach, specialized single-physics solvers with different numerical properties may be combined to solve a multi-physics setup. This allows us to use expert solvers for every considered phenomenon. To handle their respective problems in the most efficient way solvers use non-matching meshes - both in the spatial and temporal domain (multi-scale) - and different discretization techniques (inhomogeneous setup). The coupling library preCICE provides methods for an appropriate treatment of non-matching spatial meshes, but it currently lacks advanced techniques for the treatment of non-matching temporal discretization. To maintain order and stability of time stepping, special care must be taken and simply exchanging nodal values at the coupling interface does not suffice. This contribution presents different setups that arise in partitioned multi-physics problems. Different temporal scales and different discretization techniques are considered. Challenges and requirements that stem from the partitioned approach are derived and various candidate techniques for multi-rate time stepping are introduced and evaluated. Convergence studies for a simple benchmark scenario are performed and implementation aspects are presented - with the final goal of implementing multi-rate time stepping in preCICE. copyright © Crown copyright (2018).All right reserved.

In software-defined networks(SDNs),controller placement is a critical factor in the design and planning for the future Internet of Things(IoT),telecommunication,and satellite communication *** research has concentrated largely on factors such as reliability,latency,controller capacity,propagation delay,and energy ***,SDNs are vulnerable to distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks that interfere with legitimate use of the *** ever-increasing frequency of DDoS attacks has made it necessary to consider them in network design,especially in critical applications such as military,health care,and financial services networks requiring high *** propose a mathematical model for planning the deployment of SDN smart backup controllers(SBCs)to preserve service in the presence of DDoS *** a number of input parameters,our model has two distinct ***,it determines the optimal number of primary controllers to place at specific locations or nodes under normal operating ***,it recommends an optimal number of smart backup controllers for use with different levels of DDoS *** goal of the model is to improve resistance to DDoS attacks while optimizing the overall cost based on the *** simulated results demonstrate that the model is useful in planning for SDN reliability in the presence of DDoS attacks while managing the overall cost.

Feasibility Analysis of the Sanchez-Pomraning Method to Treat the Particle Size Distribution in Particle-Dispersed Fuel

The non-uniform size of particles appears in the particle-dispersed fuel generally, but this phenomenon is usually neglected. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of the Sanchez-Pomraning method to solve the particle size distribution problem in particle-dispersed fuel. The Pu-rich agglomerate phenomenon in the MOX fuel and manufacturing tolerance in the Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM) fuel are calculated by ALPHA-DH code, which implements the Sanchez-Pomraning method based on the MOC transport calculation and improved subgroup resonance calculation. Numerical results show that the Sanchez-Pomraning method has the capability to treat the particle size distribution effect accurately, where the differences bwtween the Sanchez-Pomraning method and the Monte Carlo method are generally lower than 160 pcm. For the Pu-rich agglomerate phenomenon, the results show that ignoring the Pu-rich agglomerate effect introduces the reactivity difference of around 600 pcm, and ignoring the size distribution of the Pu agglomerate will cause the reactivity of up to 200 pcm in the extra-high or extra-low Pu enrichment. The more discrete size distribution and the smaller Pu-spots, the more significant influence will occur in the MOX fuel. For the FCM fuel, the influence brought by the TRISO particle size distribution can be ignored when only TRISO particles are filled. However, ignoring the size distribution when TRISO particles and poison particles are both added into the FCM fuel introduces the differences reaching 600-1000 pcm. These results demonstrate the importance of considering the particle size distribution for analyzing the MOX fuel and FCM fuel in practice. And the Sanchez-Pomraning method is reliable to analyze the effect of particle size distribution. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the exponential growth of biomedical knowledge in unstructured text repositories such as PubMed, it is imminent to establish a knowledge graph-style, efficient searchable and targeted database that can support the need of information retrieval from researchers and clinicians. To mine knowledge from graph databases, most previous methods view a triple in a graph (see Fig. 1) as the basic processing unit and embed the triplet element (i.e. drugs/chemicals, proteins/genes and their interaction) as separated embedding matrices, which cannot capture the semantic correlation among triple elements. To remedy the loss of semantic correlation caused by disjoint embeddings, we propose a novel approach to learn triple embeddings by combining entities and interactions into a unified representation. Furthermore, traditional methods usually learn triple embeddings from scratch, which cannot take advantage of the rich domain knowledge embedded in pre-trained models, and is also another significant reason for the fact that they cannot distinguish the differences implied by the same entity in the multi-interaction triples. In this paper, we propose a novel fine-tuning based approach to learn better triple embeddings by creating weakly supervised signals from pre-trained knowledge graph embeddings. The method automatically samples triples from knowledge graphs and estimates their pairwise similarity from pre-trained embedding models. The triples are then fed pairwise into a Siamese-like neural architecture, where the triple representation is fine-tuned in the manner bootstrapped by triple similarity scores. Finally, we demonstrate that triple embeddings learned with our method can be readily applied to several downstream applications (e.g. triple classification and triple clustering). We evaluated the proposed method on two open-source drug-protein knowledge graphs constructed from PubMed abstracts, as provided by BioCreative. Our method achieves consistent improvement in both t

The Double Heterogeneous (DH) system, where fuel particles are randomly dispersed in the non-fissile matrix, is challenging for the reactor physics calculation. The Sanchez-Pomraning method accurately handles the DH system, but integrating it into existing reactor physics code requires code development. This study adopts the Sanchez-Pomraning coupled Ultra-Fine-Group (SP-UFG) slowing-down calculation to generate the heterogeneous Resonance Integral (RI) for DH system treatment with simple volume homogenization. Fully Ceramic Micro-encapsulated (FCM) fuel pin-cells and plates with varying configurations are calculated for verification. Effective cross-sections (XSs) and keff calculated by the heterogeneous RI are compared with SP-UFG results. Results show that the maximum bias of XSs and keff caused by the XS biases are less than 5% and 200 pcm, respectively. The maximum bias of keff when compared with Monte Carlo calculated results is -213 pcm, demonstrating that only considering the DH effect in the resonance energy region is acceptable. © 2024, The Authors. With the rapid development of the satellite industry, the information transmission network based on communication satellites has gradually become a major and important part of the future satellite ground integration network. However, the low transmission efficiency of the satellite data relay back mission has become a problem that is currently constraining the construction of the system and needs to be solved urgently. Effectively planning the task of satellite ground networking by reasonably scheduling resources is crucial for the efficient transmission of task data. In this paper, we hope to provide a task execution scheme that maximizes the profit of the networking task for satellite ground network planning considering feeding mode (SGNPFM). To solve the SGNPFM problem, a mixed-integer planning model with the objective of maximizing the gain of the link-building task is constructed, which considers various constraints of the satellite in the feed-switching mode. Based on the problem characteristics, we propose a distance similarity-based genetic optimization algorithm (DSGA), which considers the state characteristics between the tasks and introduces a weighted Euclidean distance method to determine the similarity between the tasks. To obtain more high-quality solutions, different similarity evaluation methods are designed to assist the algorithm in intelligently screening individuals. The DSGAalso uses an adaptive crossover strategy based on similarity mechanism, which guides the algorithm to achieve efficient population search. In addition, a task scheduling algorithm considering the feed-switching mode is designed for decoding the algorithm to generate a highquality scheme. The results of simulation experiments show that the DSGA can effectively solve the SGNPFM problem. We present novel coupling schemes for partitioned multi-physics simulation that combine four important aspects for strongly coupled problems: Implicit coupling per time step, fast and robust acceleration of the corresponding iterative coupling, support for multi-rate time stepping, and higherorder convergence in time. To achieve this, we combine waveform relaxation - a known method to achieve higher order in applications with split time stepping based on continuous representations of coupling variables in time - with interface quasi-Newton coupling, which has been developed throughout the last decade and is generally accepted as a very robust iterative coupling method even for gluing together black-box simulation codes. We show convergence results (in terms of convergence of the iterative solver and in terms of approximation order in time) for two academic test cases - a heat transfer scenario and a fluid-structure interaction simulation. We show that we achieve the expected approximation order and that our iterative method is competitive in terms of iteration counts with those designed for simpler first-order-in-time coupling. Modeling stochastic systems is a real challenge in many areas. Even the meteorology domain is not an exception; the modeling of precipitation activity is markedly stochastic and is influenced by a number of related physical variables (temperature, pressure, humidity, wind). Accurate precipitation estimation is thus highly non-trivial. Today's technical capability, automated data measuring (whether using Radar or automatic meteorological stations), as well as subsequent large-scale data processing and regression model training, allow the meteorological estimations and predictions with increasing accuracy. This paper demonstrates selected uses of artificial neural networks in the field of meteorology, as well as solving problems with pre-processing and integrating time-spatial meteorological data.
