Geotextiles feature reinforcement, drainage, filtration, separation, and act as a moisture barrier, and are commonly used in civil and geotechnical engineering applications. Using nonwoven fabrics as geotextiles has become a recent trend;therefore, this study combines crimped polyester (PET) fibers, recycled Kevlar unidirectional selvage fibers, and low-melting-point PET (LPET) fiber to make PET/Kevlar/LPET nonwoven geotextiles, the mechanical properties of which are then examined. The test results show that the tensile strength and tearing strength of the PET/Kevlar/LPET nonwoven geotextiles increases as a result of an increasing needle-punch rate from 150 punches/min to 200 punches/min. The mechanical properties along the cross machine direciton (Cd) of the nonwoven geotextiles is greater than that along the machine direction (Md). When the needle-punching rate exceeds 200 punches/min, the mechanical properties of the nonwoven geotextiles slightly decrease.

In order to promote the green building policy of water and green construction project in the "Challenge 2008- National development Plan" of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan, and to cooperate with the green silicon island construction objective, the green building design orientation anddeployment is the most important topic at present. This study used environmental assessment indicator system for green buildings to collect expert opinions from the industry, government units, and academia, then used the Green Building System Assessment of Taiwan for an empirical model to analysis "Green Building" and to reveal methods of improving gaps in each dimensions and criteria to achieving the aspired levels in performance. This study used the MCdM (multiple criteria decision making) model combining dEMATEL-based ANP (calleddANP) with VIKOR to identify the problems in green building system assessment and to generate the improvement factors. The dEMATEL expert questionnaire was used to analyse four major dimensions and nine major indexes. The results of dANP showed that the waste reduction accounts for the highest weight (0.269), it is the most important influencing factor among the four dimensions. Three green buildings were also evaluated by VIKOR. This study identified the improvement factors with influence by evaluating the green building system, and provided the administrators with improvement strategies, so as to minimize the consumption of earth resources, and promote the development of sustainable buildings.

Applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques with Geographic Information System (GIS) in urban-related research is a surging trend recently. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Cellular Automata (CA) are two AI techniques discussed in this paper. ANN is known for its perceptron logic and CA is known for its dynamic evolvement mechanism. This paper offers the combination of ANN and Bayesian probability- named ‘BAANN’ process in order to integrate the advantages of ANN and CA. BAANN can transfer ANN outcome into the transition probability of target pattern, and cooperate with CA for operating dynamic simulation based on the perceptron logic. A specific experimental material is a kind of urban commercial phenomenon, which is the development of night market. The experimental CA model is implemented on GIS- named ‘CA-GIS’ model. CA-GIS model based on BAANN can perform high accuracy simulation and comprehensively evaluate land commercial value of night market. Additionally, the experiment of dynamic simulation can find out which places are the originally developing spots, and which zones would be sensitive to the situation of economic fluctuation.
Using some numeric factors to represent certain environmental factors is the essential method to understand the relationships between environmental phenomena and environmental factors. Sometimes environmental research...

This study probed into tourism satisfaction for the Taipei International Flora Expo using Hybrid MCdM, and the findings can serve as references for decision-makers in festival planning. This study summarized 4 dimensions and 21 factors that affect festivals and mega events, identified their structural relationship using dEMATEL (decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory), and obtained the key factors and improvement points., dANP (the dEMATEL-based analytic network process) was employed for calculating influential weights to obtain the influential weights among critical factors. The subject was the 2011 Taipei International Flora Expo, anddata collection was based on a questionnaire survey of 26 experts. The results showed that the first dimension of festivals and mega events is "entertainment" and the second is "transport". Thus, by improving these two dimensions, the tourists' satisfaction and revisit intention will be enhanced. In addition, according to weighting, the influential weight of information (0.2784) is the highest;this is because clear indication of information, such as the event flow, location, and routes, can improve public satisfaction.
