Succession of microbial communities with VOC changes during composting process

The kitchen waste compost treatment of diesel contaminated soil has the advantages of good bioremediation effect and low treatment cost. However, through understanding the mechanism of microbial degradation of diesel, the disadvantage of biological treatment time in the composting process is too time-consuming. The research results showed that the evolution of microbial communities was affected by physicochemical parameters in the composting process. during the heating period, it was found that Lactobacillus sakei and Escherichia coli were acid producing bacteria. Pseudomonas putida GB-1 is a terpenoid producing bacterium. Bacillus sp. was found to be aldehyde and sulfide producing bacteria during high temperature composting. Brevibacillus borstenensis and Low G + C Gram positive bacteria are ammonia producing bacteria. The microbial degradation mechanism could be deduced according to the VOCs change in compost gas, and the strategies to promote the efficiency of biological treatment in the composting process were provided for reference. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

This study developed and evaluated the application of bismuth sulfide doped on graphitic carbon nitride (Bi 2 S 3 @g-C 3 N 4 ) in the degradation of NO under solar irradiation. Bi 2 S 3 @g-C 3 N 4 was prepared through the grinding method. The morphological structure and chemical properties of the synthesized photocatalyst were analyzed before the degradation tests. After doping with Bi 2 S 3 , the bandgap was reduced to 2.85 eV, which increased the absorption of solar light. As a result, Bi 2 S 3 @g-C 3 N 4 achieved higher NO degradation (55%) compared to pure Bi 2 S 3 (35%) and g-C 3 N 4 (45%). The trapping test revealed that electrons were the primary species responsible for most of the NO degradation. The photocatalyst was stable under repeated solar irradiation, maintaining degradation efficiencies of 50% after five consecutive recycling tests. The present work offers strong evidence that Bi 2 S 3 @g-C 3 N 4 is stable and efficient catalyst for photocatalytic oxidation of NO over solar irradiation. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this work, we propose a 2TnC ferroelectric random access memory (FeRAM) cell design to realize the quasi-nondestructive readout (QNRO) of ferroelectric polarization (PFE) in a capacitor, which can relax the endurance requirement of the ferroelectric thin film and exploits the benefits of both FeRAM and ferroelectric FET (FeFET). We demonstrate that: i) QNRO sensing of PFE is conducted successfully in experiment with a ON/OFF ratio (ION/IOFF)>103, ION>10 µA, and read endurance>106 cycles, which can relax the FeRAM endurance requirement by 106x;ii) optimization of the cell performance can be realized by tuning the metal-ferroelectric-metal capacitor (MFM) capacitor to read transistor area ratio and read transistor threshold voltage (VTH);iii) the proposed cell structure is 3d-compatible, enabling integration of highly dense memory solution;iv) the proposed cell structure also enables compute-in-memory (CIM) applications of FeRAM, which has not been widely explored. This paper presents a 20 W high-power RF-to-dC rectifier that can be applied to wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. To address the power limitations of conventional diodes, a rectifier is designed based on a gallium nitride (GaN) integrated circuit (IC) quasi-vertical Schottky barrier diode (SBd). Leveraging the advantages of high mobility, wide bandgap, and saturation velocity of the GaN, significant benefits of the diode have been derived, with an ultra-low turn-on voltage of 0.23 ± 0.005 V (at 1 A/cm 2 ) and a high breakdown voltage of 180 V, to improve the rectification performance. Using this diode, a high-power rectifier with a wide input power range and high efficiency is developed. The proposed rectifier structure consists of a single-shunt self-developed diode and a topology with class-F harmonics control networks. It achieves a peak power conversion efficiency of 72.9% with an input power of 43 dBm at 900 MHz.

The proposed antenna with a size of 90 mm x 90 mm, and the ground portion is 64 mm x 64 mm, which material is FR4 glass epoxy substrate with the thickness of 1.6 mm, relative permittivity of 4.3 and loss tangent of 0.023, consists of four modified dipole elements and four power dividers, as shown in Figure. 1. For the multi-band and broadband operation, three dipole antennas were shunted to be a dipole element. The electrical-length of the dipole element can be determined from the one quarter-wave length at the 2.45 GHz, 5.5 GHz and 6.525 GHz, for covering 2400 MHz-2500 MHz, 5150 MHz-5850 MHz and 5925 MHz-7125 MHz. In order to operates in various modes such as normal mode and axial mode, the modified four port triple-band microstrip series power divider was designed. In normal mode, it radiates horizontally polarized waves where as in axial mode, it radiates circularly polarized waves. The radiated patterns of the proposed antenna as shown in Figure. 2. The features of the proposed antenna are shown in the Table I. Impressive radiated gains and efficiencies are obtained.

This study explores the potential of employing arrays of FBG shock sensors to measure strain in high-G impact test systems. Through a meticulously designed experiment, we installed three FBG arrays into grooves on the bottom surface of high-impact test equipment, ensuring a seamless profile. The unique design of the double elastic mass induced acceleration in the grating fiber while simultaneously subjecting it to stretching or compression in the opposite direction. This innovative approach allows us to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of utilizing FBG vibration sensors for precise strain measurement in high-G impact scenarios. The natural frequency and sensitivity of the sensor were theoretically investigated and optimized using MATLAB software. Furthermore, ANSYS was used to analyze the models and conduct simulations. The simulated FBG sensor had a natural frequency of 5000 Hz and demonstrated a flat frequency range of 100–3500 Hz. The linearity of the average sensitivity is 2.77 pm/G. A high-impact FBG shock sensor can measure high-impact forces or vibrations accurately, including aerospace to monitor aircraft health, automotive to improve vehicle safety, defense to detect gunfire, and sports to monitor the impact of collisions and improve athlete safety. © 2024 Elsevier GmbH

Abstract: In this study, we investigate blood flow in a small artery with a constriction using gold nanoparticles (Au) in the presence of microorganisms, mass, and heat transfer. The non-Newtonian behavior of blood fluid in slight arteries is quantitatively inspected by simulating blood flow using the Carreau fluid model. Momentum equations incorporating magnetohydrodynamics (MHd) and darcy–Forchheimer porous media are used to model the fluid flow. Heat transfer properties, including thermal radiation, joule dissipation, and bio-convective microorganisms, are investigated. Blood serves as the base fluid for the nanofluid, which contains gold nanoparticles. The system's nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into nonlinear OdEs through suitable transformations. To obtain numerical solutions for these OdEs, the homotopy analysis method is used. The physical implications of flow restrictions are compared with fictitious fluid flow using physical interpretations. Additionally, investigations into the interpretations of blood flow based on drag force and heat transfer are being conducted. ANOVA, or analysis of variance, is a dependable statistical tool used to evaluate regression models and a variety of statistical tests. These investigations include error assessments, total error evaluations, F-values, p-values, and model fit assessments. These statistical investigations were applied to the dataset at hand, with the goal of achieving a robust 95% level of confidence. We investigate the effects of minute adjustments in parameters on both the heat transfer rate and the friction factor rate using these analyses. The study intends to dive deeper into the potential effects of minor changes in one or more factors on the overall effectiveness of surface friction rate and the larger domain of thermal energy transfer. This will be performed by employing sensitivity analysis approaches. This strategy allows us to obtain a better understanding of how minor change

Background: The impact of cigarette smoke (CS) on lung diseases and the role of microbiome dysbiosis in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPd) have been previously reported;however, the relationships remain unclear. Methods: Our research examined the effects of 20-week cigarette smoke (CS) exposure on the lung and intestinal microbiomes in C57BL/6JNarl mice, alongside a comparison with COPd patients’ intestinal microbiome data from a public dataset. Results: The study found that CS exposure significantly decreased forced vital capacity (FVC), thickened airway walls, and induced emphysema. Increased lung damage was observed along with higher lung keratinocyte chemoattractant (KC) levels by CS exposure. Lung microbiome analysis revealed a rise in Actinobacteriota, while intestinal microbiome showed significant diversity changes, indicating dysbiosis. Principal coordinate analysis highlighted distinct intestinal microbiome compositions between control and CS-exposed groups. In the intestinal microbiome, notable decreases in Patescibacteria, Campilobacterota, defferibacterota, Actinobacteriota, and desulfobacterota were observed. We also identified correlations between lung function and dysbiosis in both lung and intestinal microbiomes. Lung interleukins, interferon-ɣ, KC, and 8-isoprostane levels were linked to lung microbiome dysbiosis. Notably, dysbiosis patterns in CS-exposed mice were similar to those in COPd patients, particularly of Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung disease (GOLd) stage 4 patients. This suggests a systemic impact of CS exposure. Conclusion: In summary, CS exposure induces significant dysbiosis in lung and intestinal microbiomes, correlating with lung function decline and injury. These results align with changes in COPd patients, underscoring the important role of microbiome in smoke-related lung diseases. © The Author(s) 2024.

For how to store and transport hydrogen, the first thought is to store hydrogen directly in the cylinder. However, this method is not desirable, because generally at least 700 atm high pressure, the hydrogen contained in the cylinder to be useful. Therefore it is very unsafe at such high pressures. In This paper, we design and production of a new generation of solid-state hydrogen storage and discharge container. The goal of “development of solid-state hydrogen storage technology” is to break through the bottlenecks of hydrogen storage technology safety, hydrogen storage density, high-efficiency hydrogen absorption and release, transportation safety, and engineering practice.

Robust Audio Watermarking Based on Empirical Mode decomposition and Group differential Relations

An audio watermarking technique using Complementary Ensemble Empirical Mode decomposition and group differential relations of average absolute amplitudes of the last Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) is proposed. By using group differential relations, the relationship with neighboring samples in the last IMF is well preserved, and near-imperceptibility can be achieved. Placing a watermark on low-frequency components, the last IMF, which is perceptually significant, therefore makes the watermark difficult to be removed. The embedding watermark, which is a logo image in our experiment, is processed by Arnold transformation, secret key encryption, and Bose–Chaudhuri–Hocquenghem coding to enhance robustness and security. Experimental results of the signal-to-noise ratio fit the recommendations of imperceptibility of the International Federation of the phonographic Industry. The average Objective difference Grade (an objective measure that correlates very well with subjective assessment) and subjective quality assessment were performed to evaluate the imperceptibility. Furthermore, our method accomplishes robustness under 13 different categories of attacks, including noise corruption, amplitude scaling, echo addition, resampling, re-quantization, low-pass filtering, MPEG-1 Audio Layer III compression, digital-to-Analog/Analog-to-digital conversion, cropping, time shift, zero thresholding, jittering, and combined attacks. © 2023 Authors.
