Exploring EfficientNet Variants for Image Encoding in Auxiliary Signal Guided Knowledge Encoder-Decoder Framework

The growing number of medical images has led to radiologist burnout, which seriously impacts the radiologist's performance. To address the previously mentioned issue, an Auxiliary Signal Guided Knowledge (ASGK) multimodal encoder-decoder framework was designed to automatically generate the medical report based on the proposed medical graph and natural language decoder. It utilizes DenseNet-121 as the image encoder. With DenseNet-121 lack of computational and memory efficiency, this study aims to explore the potential of EfficientNetB0 to EfficientNetB4 as an ASGK image encoder substitute. The framework is trained with IU X-Ray dataset for 30 epochs, with Adam optimizer, a learning rate of 0.01 with 0.8 decay rate, binary cross entropy loss for the medical tags, and cross-entropy loss for the generated medical captions. During the framework training process with each image encoder, the parameter that achieves the highest CIDEr score on the validation set is considered the best image encoder parameter and will be used on the test set. On the test set, EfficientNetB3 as an ASGK image encoder has been shown to increase the CIDEr score to 0.35, a significant increase from the 0.28 CIDEr score obtained by the ASGK using DenseNet-121. This score is only a 1% decrease from the best validation score. It suggests that not only EfficientNetB3 increases the framework's performance, it is also less prone to overfitting. This study has demonstrated that EfficientNetB3 is a potential image encoder substitute for DenseNet-121 in the ASGK framework.

This research explores the vital role of penetration testing in cybersecurity, specifically its alignment with ISO 27001:2022, COBIT 2019, and NIST CSF standards in the context of crypto asset exchange management. These sectors grapple with rapidly evolving threat landscapes, necessitating robust cybersecurity strategies. However, the integration of penetration testing with these standards remains underexamined. Through a comprehensive approach, including literature reviews, surveys, case studies, and interviews, this study investigates the incorporation of penetration testing into an organization's cybersecurity. It unveils the current state of penetration testing practices, interprets ISO 27001:2022, COBIT 2019, and NIST CSF perspectives, and pinpoints integration challenges and opportunities. This study offers practical insights and best practices for integrating penetration testing into cybersecurity frameworks by emphasizing alignment. It underscores the importance of aligning penetration testing with information security standards in the crypto asset exchange management sector, enhancing security, proactively identifying vulnerabilities, and effectively mitigating risks in the context of growing crypto asset importance. This research provides invaluable guidance for safeguarding digital assets in this evolving domain. © 2023 IEEE.

Since the corona pandemic, many internet users have maximized their interactions with the internet to minimize face-to-face meetings. As a result, many collaborative filtering algorithms, which are part of recommender systems, have been optimized so that users can obtain the best results. Collaborative filtering is an approach to providing recommendations that relies on the interactions and preferences of past users. Essentially, recommendations are generated by considering how users with similar preferences and behaviors have interacted. There are two primary forms of collaborative filtering: user-user and item-item. User-user collaborative filtering suggests recommendations based on users who share similar preferences with the current user. On the other hand, item-item collaborative filtering suggests recommendations based on items that are frequently selected together by other users. Both types of collaborative filtering rely on user interaction and preference data to deliver effective results. The latest trend related to collaborative filtering involves the use of geographic information. This paper aims to map the research developments related to collaborative filtering with geographic information in recent years, including the algorithms used, implementation issues, and challenges faced. Our hope is that this research can provide an overview of where this technology is heading. © 2023 IEEE.

E-learning was disrupted by a new concept of education named microlearning that carried various digital learning materials in convenient learning paths that were customizable according to users' necessity by using digital application. The competitive advantage of microlearning has been published but caused ubiquitous bias definition. This study aims to identify and analyze fundamental components of existing microlearning research and implementations in e-learning platforms. 42 research articles from SCOPUS database were collected from 2018 to 2022. They were reviewed to discover fundamental components of microlearning that must be considered in its implementations. The result of this study uncovered 'Content's variety' the most fundamental components. In contrast, this study finds that advance technology is the least discussed but required in supporting specific usage of microlearning. Limitation of this study lies on the determination of database and keyword usage and the methodology. This study recommends to consider combination of microlearning components to concept a specialized microlearning for sustainable quality education. © 2023 IEEE.

Semi-automated meningioma segmentation with bounding boxes

Segmentation is manually performed by physicians, which takes considerable time and may be subject to observers. Automating this task can increase efficiency and consistency. Existing studies on meningioma segmentation used data from limited study centers, indicating the need for research on multi-center data to assess generalizability. In this work, two semi-automated methods with bounding box priors, LiteMedSAM and BBU-Net, are evaluated on the brain tumor segmentation (BraTS) 2023 meningioma dataset collected from five study-centers. Preprocessing included exclusion of small tumors, z-score normalization, and extraction of slices that contain tumors, generating 25,602 2D axial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. A fine-tuning strategy is adopted for LiteMedSAM while BBU-Net is trained from scratch. The models are evaluated using a five-fold cross-validation, with data split at the case level. Results show that while U-Net models can achieve performance close to LiteMedSAM, the foundation model has overall better performance, with more than 90% in all evaluation scores.

A wide variety of disciplines contribute to bioinformatics research, including computer science, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. This study determines the number of research articles published on arXiv classified as bioinformatics topics and the most frequently used bioinformatics terms using topic modeling, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). An algorithm based on LDA is used to discover topics hidden within large collections of documents through the use of statistical analysis. Our research examined 226453 articles on arXiv between January 2023 and January 2024. As a result, there are more than 10521 articles categorized into bioinformatics topics. Most commonly, 6352 documents are in the "Mathematical Physics" category. The second most popular category is "computer science," with 2950 documents. Accordingly, the terms 'RNA,' 'sequence,' 'tree,' and 'homology' are the three most commonly used terms in bioinformatics. The study of RNA plays a vital role in molecular biology; thus, the study of RNA is prevalent in bioinformatics. Sequential data refer to the order in which nucleotides or amino acids can be found in a DNA molecule or a protein.

The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely adopted for a lot of purposes. Business process automation is one type of implementation that has been carried out. In addition, the data successfully captured by the IoT ecosystem can be utilized for various computer modeling needs, including the decision model construction in assessing room quality. The decision model itself is a computer model supporting the decision maker in decision making process. This research, via four simple research stages, aims to develop an IoT-based decision model to evaluate room quality based on two parameters: temperature and humidity. The design of the IoT environment and the implementation of temperature and humidity data readings in a room are used as input data for a decision model to assess the comfort level of the room. In this study, the primary method used to design the model is object-oriented, while fuzzy logic is employed to build the model. The developed decision model can simulate data captured from the designed IoT ecosystem, successfully assessing the comfort level of a room. From the simulation results using 18 data points (from 9 days of data capturing) captured by temperature and humidity sensors, the average comfort level of the room was found to be 19.7873.

After the Covid 19 pandemic, the property management industry is slowly starting to revive. Even though the occupancy rate has not returned to normal like the Covid19 pandemic, its growth is starting to move in a positive direction. The Covid19 pandemic has provided many lessons for all stakeholders in the property management industry. Digital transformation has become a part that has received important attention in the property management industry worldwide. With digital transformation in the property management industry, all stakeholders are expected to receive various benefits, directly or indirectly. The implementation of digital transformation will involve 6 components, namely: Strategy, Organization, Culture, Customer, People, and Technology. The implementation of digital transformation in the property management industry will require support from many parties, not only internal parties but also external parties. Technological developments, IoT, and demands from residents and property owners are challenges that must be answered by property managers. This systematic literature review will examine articles that have been published in the Scopus database regarding the development of digital transformation in the property management industry from various countries. Patellofemoral instability is a knee disorder in which the patella, slips out of its usual placement leading to knee pain. The patella may displace from its position due to abnormality in the shape of patellar surface on femur bone. The orthopaedic experts manually measure certain parameters from the available axial knee scans for the patellar instability diagnosis, which is labor-intensive and susceptible to inter-and intra-observer variations. The automated segmentation of femur region in knee magnetic resonance (MR) image can help in easily identifying the abnormality in the patellar surface. Therefore, in this paper, the femur bone in the axial knee MR scans has been segmented using two variants of U-Net: basic U-Net and U-Net++ and the results have been compared and visualized. The validation dice similarity coefficient (DSC) and accuracy of 89.62% and 94.05% were obtained, respectively, for U-Net. For U-Net++, the validation DSC of 95.04% and validation accuracy of 94.91% were obtained. Further, in this paper, the sulcus depth measurement has been automated using basic image processing techniques. A mean error of 0.565 mm was obtained when tested on 20 axial knee MR images. The T2-weighted knee MRI dataset of 55 patients has been acquired from post graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh for training and testing of the proposed approach. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

This research explores multiple varieties of effective and child-friendly learning approaches for mathematics and memorization among young children in today's increasingly digital age considering their specific developmental needs. This type of approach includes in-person teaching, engaging online videos, interactive textbooks, and innovative educational games. This research employs a detailed comparative analysis, considering both ‘User Experience’ and measurable learning outcome factors, and spans a range of age groups from preschoolers to elementary school children. Through highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each method, this research aims to inspire the adoption of efficient, child-centric, and novel teaching techniques by educators and institutions, thereby advancing the quality of education in Indonesia. The results show that using serious game in education presents high usefulness score alongside positive user experience, suggesting its viability for educational purposes.
