The Advanced Small Modular Reactor has the characteristics of high energy density and long-term stable operation. It can be used as an energy supply device to supply power for mines, islands and scientific research located in remote/closed areas. The main deployment scenario of small module reactor is remote areas with weak infrastructure such as transportation, water source and power supply, which puts forward high requirements for the safety, reliability, flexibility, robustness, rapid deployment and “unattended” capability of reactor operation. Therefore, it is urgent to study the intelligent operation and maintenance system of small module reactor that can realize the ability of “unattended monitoring”. And the Prognostic Technique is one of the parts. Firstly, this paper analyzes the functional requirements of the predictive technology of advanced small reactors. Then, the current status of predictive technology at home and abroad is reviewed.

Today on-line monitoring of the technical state and assessment of the service life of electromechanical systems at rolling mills is an urgent problem. To resolve it, it is necessary to substantiate the method for calculation of the remaining life under dynamic loads and to develop technical means for the method implementation. The authors have studied the oscillograms of speeds and torques of the motors of the top and bottom rolls main drives (TMD and BMD) for the plate mill 5000. A considerable difference between static (and consequently, dynamic) torques of these motors has been confirmed. When the loaded electrical drive reaches the limit torque values, it causes the loss of the motor control and increased amplitudes of elastic torque at the spindle when the rolls pick up metal. This confirms that it is important to study the dependence between elastic torque amplitude and thickness reduction and to develop the method to calculate mechanical equipment life at intermittent dynamic loads. An information system for on-line monitoring of elastic torques at spindles has been developed. Elastic torque recovery is conducted by the observer that additionally calculates the extent of equipment wear. The authors have substantiated the calculation of fatigue loading based on the Palmgren-Miner linear damage rule. The article also considers analytical expressions used to obtain dependences between wear and torque degree during metal pickup. The authors have calculated the spindle wear for different time periods at rolling sheets for actual plant stock. As a result, the difference in fatigue life of TMD and BMD spindles was confirmed. The authors give recommendations on the commercial adoption of the solutions and applying BigData technologies for dataset processing.

Traditional base station siting (BSS) methods rely heavily on drive testing and user feedback, which are laborious and require extensive expertise in communication, networking, and optimization. As large language models (LLMs) and their associated technologies advance, particularly in the realms of prompt engineering and agent engineering, network optimization will witness a revolutionary approach. This approach entails the strategic use of well-crafted prompts to infuse human experience and knowledge into these sophisticated LLMs, and the deployment of autonomous agents as a communication bridge to seamlessly connect the machine language based LLMs with human users using natural language. Furthermore, our proposed framework incorporates retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to enhance the system’s ability to acquire domain-specific knowledge and generate solutions, thereby enabling the customization and optimization of the BSS process. This integration represents the future paradigm of artificial intelligence (AI) as a service and AI for more ease. This research first develops a novel LLM-empowered BSS optimization framework, and heuristically proposes three different potential implementations: the strategies based on Prompt-optimized LLM (PoL), LLM-empowered autonomous BSS agent (LaBa), and Cooperative multiple LLM-based autonomous BSS agents (CLaBa). Through evaluation on real-world data, the experiments demonstrate that prompt-assisted LLMs and LLM-based agents can generate more efficient and reliable network deployments, noticeably enhancing the efficiency of BSS optimization and reducing trivial manual participation. © 2024, CC BY.

Nowadays the installation of distributed energy resources (DERs) is very popular all over the world. DERs bring partial independence from the external grid, fewer interruptions in the electric supply, economic benefits, improvement of the electrical energy quality and the green energy to the systems of the prosumers. However, they also bring network congestions and increase the complexity of the energy management especially when the renewable DERs with their inconstant generation profiles are used. One of the possible solutions for these problems for the prosumers is to organize and join an energy community. Energy community members can both exchange electrical energy to maintain energy balance and sell excess energy to the operator. There are two basic energy management strategies for the community members: collective and individual. This paper focuses on determining the most beneficial one by simulating an energy community with different levels of cooperation and assessing multiple parameters. © 2021 IEEE.

As an aggregator of distributed energy resources(DERs) such as distributed generator, energy storage, and load,the virtual power plant(VPP) enables these small DERs participating in system operation. One of the critical issues is how to aggregate DERs to form VPPs appropriately. To improve the controllability and reduce the operation cost of VPP, the complementary DERs with close electrical distances should be aggregated in the same VPP. In this paper, it is formulated as an optimal network partition model for minimizing the voltage deviation inside VPPs and the fluctuation of injection power at the point of common coupling(PCC). A new convex formulation of network reconfiguration strategy is incorporated in this approach which can guarantee the components of the same VPP connected and further improve the performance of *** proposed approach is cast as an instance of mixed-integer linear programming(MILP) and can be effectively ***, a scenario reduction method is developed to reduce the computation burden based on the k-shape algorithm. Numerical tests on the 13-bus and 70-bus distribution networks justify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The protection and control system in substations has undergone significant evolution since the era of hardwired systems. In recent years, the increasing trend of digital transformation (DX) across various fields, including protection and automation systems, has led to the promotion of IEC 61850 process bus-based digital substations. However, recent analysis and evaluation have revealed numerous challenges in various aspects, such as technical issues, system performance, test methods, maintenance, and economic considerations. Moreover, many of these challenges lie outside the scope of international standards like IEC 61850 and IEC 61869. As a result, the worldwide implementation of digital substations has been hindered. This paper aims to describe the issues encountered during the implementation of process bus technology and propose solutions that focus on optimizing system configuration based on our experience in implementing digital substation projects and developing MU and IED. Addressing these issues is crucial to fully unlocking the potential of digital substations. One of the most promising advantages is the availability of digital data collected from substation equipment. By utilizing this data, overall power system operational efficiency can be enhanced, and equipment management can be optimized. Predictive maintenance can be implemented, enabling the early detection of potential equipment failures, minimizing unplanned outages, and reducing the need for emergency repairs, which contribute to unnecessary carbon emissions and equipment downtime. Ultimately, digital substations empower end-users to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and seamlessly integrate power systems, thereby supporting the carbon-neutral initiative and facilitating the transition towards a sustainable energy future. © 2023 IEEE.

The forecasting of of pseudo-measurements play an important role in distribution system state estimation (DSSE). This paper proposes robust DSSE method based on forecasting-aided graphical learning method. The nodal power consumption models are first built to produce pseudo-measurements based on deep neural network. Then, the pseudo-measurements and real-time measurements are represented as a graph according to the topology of the distribution network, which are further processed by a graph attention network to capture the mapping relationship between the graphical measurements and the state variables based on the error modeling of pseudo-measurements. The robustness against anomalous measurements is achieved through the embedding of structural information of DN. The modeling of pseudo-measurements further enhance its robustness by guiding the formulation of edge weights of the graph neural network. Comparative tests are carried out on a IEEE 119-node system to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method. © 2024, State Grid Electric power.

Any business processes in an enterprise are associated with the need to periodically assess possible risk situations. Today, assessing risks in order to control them is not enough. It is necessary to continuously, cyclically and on an ongoing basis carry out risk management, which has already become an integral part of the management of the organization. However, the complexity of assessing and analyzing events associated with an unfavorable outcome dictates to organizational systems, which include the subject area considered in the work - a cargo port, the need to develop and use tools that allow for a comprehensive assessment of activities from the point of view of possible risks, including the possibility of cognitive evaluation of each of the results obtained. Risks are considered as situations of failure to meet goals, as well as target standards. The developed balanced scorecard (BSɋ) contains a set of goals and indicators that complement them. In addition to this, through multi-level hybrid and scenario LP risk models of a cargo port, logical and probabilistic connections between goals, indicators and risks arising at all three levels of management are formulated. The basis of the ontological model is knowledge about the above-mentioned connections, the integrated use of which through appropriate queries allows you to choose ways to bypass risk situations under the existing specified conditions. The query results form experimental scenarios with a multi-approach simulation model and allow you to obtain quantitative estimates of indicators, goals and risks. Taking into account all available stochastic characteristics, influencing factors, and also based on information about the results of the experiment, the decision maker formulates the values of the parameters of the original organizational system necessary to adjust in order to prevent the development and aggravation of risk events.

This paper presents an innovative methodology based on a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to optimize Demand-Side Management (DSM) in the energy domain. The proposed approach utilizes a GA to analyze appliance consumption profiles and identify load shifting opportunities for controllable appliances from peak hours to off-peak hours, defined by Demand Response (DR) programs such as Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing. This optimization enables the reduction of electricity consumption during peak hours, lowers consumer bills, and improves the efficiency of the power grid, contributing to more sustainable and economical energy management.

During startup and shutdown of a pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power plant, it involves a large number of operations on pumps, valves, electric heaters and control rods, and needs to take into account the close coordination of the operating status of each system. At present, the start-stop control is mainly realized by manual operation of the operator, which is very demanding for the operator, and is not only prone to leakage and mis-operation, but even has the risk of causing the unit to deviate from normal operation. Application of advanced automation and intelligent technology to realize automatic start/stop of nuclear power units, which is extremely important in theory and practical significance for the improvement of the operational safety and economics of nuclear power plants. In this paper, PWR nuclear power plant is used as the object of study, analyzes and forms the overall development route of automatic start-stop system for nuclear power plant, and divides into three stages: system R&D and design, logic configuration implementation, system commissioning operation. Then the paper puts forward the specific working methods, principles and step suggestions for each stage of work, so as to lay a solid foundation for the subsequent R&D and application of the automatic start-stop system in nuclear power plants.
