This paper presents the hybrid approach for visualization of documents sets by the combination of hierarchical clustering method, based on the Growing Hierarchical Self-Organizing Maps algorithm, and Sammon projection. Algorithms based on the self-organizing maps provide robust clustering method suitable for visualization of larger number of documents into the grid-based 2D maps. Sammon projection is nonlinear projection method suitable mostly to visualization of smaller sets of object on (usually 2D) maps based on the projections. Here we have implemented and tested combination of these approaches, where starting set of documents is organized using GHSOM to subsets of similar documents, then for clusters at the end of clustering phase, with smaller number of inputs, Sammon maps are created in order to provide distinction also for documents in these clusters. The method for extraction of characteristic terms based on the information gain analysis was used for description of clusters. Existing library JBOWL was used for implementation of the hybrid algorithm. For testing purposes, the documents in English language were used.

Although the invention of the special wheels that move omnidirectional vehicles dates back to the seventies, advances in mechatronics, and control technology keep them constantly on the drawing table of engineers working with mobile robots. The need for eliminating human error becomes ever so obvious when human operators are managing expensive and/or powerful machinery, as the cost of failure can be very high. Omnidirectional platforms are not immune to human error either, however due to their unique working principle they require customized methods. This article presents a trajectory controller for omnidirectional transport robots that is able to correct their trajectory during braking even when high disturbances are present. A method for tuning the controller to achieve a desired behavior is presented. The results are demonstrated by simulation, in Modelica -Dymola environment.

During the development of the intellectual multi-agent investment management information system (designed for the formation of investor's investment decisions), it was established that there is a lack of both necessary comprehensive researches and analysis to invoke more than one decision-making aspect (argument) for the making of investment decision, and recommendations to combine these diverse parameters. It is possible to find a lot of articles and researches in which investment decisions or investment tactics are decided on the ground of either technical or fundamental analysis, or modeling and on the ground of intellectual calculating technique (for example, fuzzy logic, neural net, genetic programming), whereas the issues of the coordination of different techniques are not decided at all. To fill this niche, the article offers the decision applied in multi-agent investment management information system which allows to provide rationale for investment decision taking into account four aspects (arguments), i.e., to form the recommendation to purchase/hold/sell a security paper having evaluated the following four aspects (arguments): (a) fundamental analysis, (b) technical analysis, (c) experts and analysts' recommendations and (d) risk assessment. These aspects (arguments) are chosen taking into account the real most commonly occurring process of investor's investment decision-making. The article gives the implementation of aspects (arguments) assessment by four corresponding software agents whose decisions are implemented with a help of fuzzy logic. Besides, the article offers the technique of the unification of these aspects (arguments). The offered intellectual multi-agent investment management information system can be tested on the internet: ***/webapp (MADSYS project).

During the monitoring of information systems, experiments in progress, etc. it is often required that people are alerted about some events in real time, preferably via a mobile phone. Modern smartphones offer advanced means of notification, however these techniques are usually vendor specific. In this paper we design an unified platform for the delivery of short messages and notifications to smartphones. Our solution is based on a RESTful Java Web Service with simple interface and secure access. Although it is primarily targeted for the delivery of iOS Push Notifications, it can be easily extended for other platforms and/or transport methods (Android, SMS messaging, etc.).

This paper presents a methodology for avoiding joint limits of robot manipulators in the solution of the differential inverse kinematics problem. A nonlinear transformation is applied to the joint limits, leading to a new kinematics formulation defined in the space of the transformed variables. The introduced transformation ensures that the joint variables stay between joint limits. Optimality conditions are converted into the transformed joint space, and closed-loop differential inverse kinematics is applied. The effectiveness of the introduced method is demonstrated on a simulational example.
