This paper discusses the reduction of background noise in an industrial environment to extend *** the Industry 4.0 era,the mass development of voice control(speech recognition)in various industrial applications is possible,especially as related to augmented reality(such as hands-free control via voice commands).As Industry 4.0 relies heavily on radiofrequency technologies,some brief insight into this problem is provided,including the Internet of things(IoT)and 5G *** study was carried out in cooperation with the industrial partner Brose CZ spol.s.r.o.,where sound recordings were made to produce a *** experimental environment comprised three workplaces with background noise above 100 dB,consisting of a laser/magnetic welder and a press.A virtual device was developed from a given dataset in order to test selected commands from a commercial speech recognizer from *** tested a hybrid algorithm for noise reduction and its impact on voice command recognition *** virtual devices,the study was carried out on large speakers with 20 participants(10 men and 10 women).The experiments included a large number of repetitions(100 times for each command under different noise conditions).Statistical results confirmed the efficiency of the tested *** welding environment efficiency was 27%before applied filtering,76%using the least mean square(LMS)algorithm,and 79%using LMS+independent component analysis(ICA).Magnetic welding environment efficiency was 24%before applied filtering,70%with LMS,and 75%with LMS+*** workplace environment efficiency showed no success before applied filtering,was 52%with LMS,and was 54%with LMS+ICA.

Considering the need for mass customization in Industry 4.0, it is necessary to develop non-traditional production methods. Therefore, additive manufacturing can become a key technology for the production of customized products thanks to its ability to create irregular objects or shapes. In addition to enabling new design possibilities, the additive manufacturing method holds promise for increasing social, economic, and environmental sustainability. It also has the potential to reduce energy consumption and lower polymer material consumption. Additive manufacturing contrasts with conventional processes, as it consists in applying materials layer by layer. Conventional manufacturing operations produce polymer waste that is difficult to reintroduce into manufacturing processes. The aim of the contribution is the possibility of using additive manufacturing in the design and processing of new effective use of the product with regard to the environmental aspect. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Fuzzy control system design for wheel slip prevention and tracking of desired speed profile in electric trains

This study proposes an anti-slip control system for electric trains based on the fuzzy logic theory, which prevents the wheels from slipping during the acceleration and simultaneously tracks the desired speed profile. To improve the control performance, the train longitudinal velocity and the slip ratio are estimated. By using a field-oriented control (FOC), the angular speed of the traction motor is controlled. The fuzzy control system determines the desired angular speed of the traction motor as the reference input of FOC to obtain the desired slip ratio and track the desired speed profile. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the control system in various wheel–rail surface conditions based on the real parameters of ER24PC locomotive. © 2020 Chinese Automatic control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd

During the last few years, there has been a growing interest in the topic of using natural or synthetic esters as an alternative to mineral oils in oil transformers due to the easier way to obtain them and their ability to exhibit better electrical properties. In addition, more and more researchers are describing in their work that doping esters with nanoparticles is capable of further improving these properties. Therefore, in the current work, it was decided to see what effect the addition of a hydrophobic carbon shell iron nanoparticle to ORLEN mineral oil and Midel 7131 synthetic ester would have on selected electrical parameters of the insulating fluid, i.e. breakdown voltage and electrical strength.

Fast reroute (FRR) mechanisms that can instantly handle network failures in the data plane are gaining attention in packet-switched networks. In FRR no notification messages are required as the nodes adjacent to the failure are prepared with a routing table such that the packets are re-routed only based on local information. However, designing the routing algorithm for FRR is challenging because the number of possible sets of failed network links and nodes can be extremely high, while the algorithm should keep track of which nodes are aware of the failure. In this paper, we propose a generic algorithmic framework that combines the benefits of Integer Linear Programming (ILP) and an effective approach from graph theory related to constructive graph characterization of k-connected graphs, i.e., edge splitting-off. We illustrate these benefits through arborescence design for FRR and show that (i) due to the ILP we have great flexibility in defining the routing problem, while (ii) the problem can still be solved very fast. We demonstrate through simulations that our framework outperforms state-of-the-art FRR mechanisms and provides better resilience with shorter paths in the arborescences. © 2023 IEEE.

Acute circulatory failure (ACF) is a clinical syndrome when the heart and circulatory circulation cannot provide adequate blood supply to meet metabolic needs of the organs. ACF affects 30%- 50% of intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Fluid resuscitation is the primary treatment of ACF. However, it fails in a significant proportion (about 50%) of cases due to lack of clinically feasible non-invasive perfusion markers to assess the efficacy of the fluid therapy. Unfortunately, unsuccessful fluid therapy negatively affects patient outcome, increasing ICU length of stay and costs. Recent studies show identifying Stressed Blood Volume (SBV) of the cardiovascular system can be used to assess the potential efficacy of fluid therapy. The development of the diagnostic method requires the identification of the central arterial pressure curve based on the femoral arterial pressure, which is clinically available. This central arterial pressure curve can be used to identify the cardiovascular system parameters. In this study, the main goal was to develop a parameter-identification method for the Tube-load model-based transfer function connecting the femoral and central arterial pressure curve by using the so-called Physics-informed Neural Network methodology, namely the Neural ODE method. The study presents the adaptation of the Neural ODE method to the given parameter identification problem and the validation of the developed identification method. The robustness of the developed identification method was tested and used on a series of measurement data recorded in animal experiments.

A significant portion of patients in the intensive care unit experience hyperglycemia, meaning abnormally high blood sugar levels. Prolonged hyperglycemia poses numerous risks, leading to organ damage in the medium-term and potentially life-threatening conditions. Therefore, insulin dosing is essential to regulate the blood sugar levels of hyperglycemic patients. The STAR protocol is an insulin dosing support, a so-called tight glycemic control protocol that uses insulin sensitivity among the patient's physiological parameters to characterize their current state. Estimating the patient's future SI is crucial for determining optimal treatment. Various methods exist for this estimation, and different metrics are available for evaluating these methods. The challenge in the estimation task is to determine not the expected value of future SI but its 90% confidence interval, which is necessary for implementing clinical protocols. The research presented in the article developed SI estimation methods using quantile regression, polynomial fitting, and neural network-based approaches. Multiple previous insulin sensitivity values were used as input parameters to improve prediction accuracy.

Cloud-based, centralized control system architectures have been published in recent years, examining the applications, structure and validity of the idea of controlling a vehicle, or multiple vehicles directly from the cloud. The literature presents possible advantages and disadvantages of control as a Service (CaaS), as well as multiple viable applications, however no real-car real-world implementation exists to the best of our knowledge. In our experiments, we demonstrate a real-life and real-time vehicle control method that runs in the cloud and reacts adaptively to the vehicle’s surroundings. In the presented tests, acquisition of the vehicle and environment state is performed from a collective perception-based digital twin that is also produced in our cloud-based Central System using data streams from our distributed sensor network. We conduct real-world physical vehicle tests, and establish that cloud-based centralized control is a viable solution, and an interesting research direction. We test our vehicle control in one mixed reality, and two real-world scenarios on the ZalaZONE proving ground in Hungary, Zalaegerszeg. Our experiments prove that cloud-based low-level vehicle control is feasible.

The digitization of technological processes in enterprises is rapidly changing the world of work and requires new and up-to-date solutions in occupational health and safety (OSH). The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) provide information to policymakers, researchers and workers about the possible effects of digitization on OSH, so that they can take timely and effective measures to ensure the safety and protection of workers. Occupational health and safety are often poorly managed in micro and small enterprises, and employees are exposed to a greater risk of workplace injuries and occupational diseases. The paper deals with online monitoring of risk assessment in the injection moulding workplace and is key to creating healthy workplaces. However, conducting a risk assessment can be quite challenging, especially for micro and small businesses that may lack the resources or expertise to do it effectively. © 2023, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

However, the linear economy and its current model will not be able to ensure long-term sustainability. It is not appropriate, and above all possible, to increase production from primary sources indefinitely. In some areas, it directly affects the population's life. It brings negative elements, such as climate change, increasing differences between poor and rich regions, and natural disasters with more serious consequences. Emerging problems such as the deterioration of air, soil and water quality directly impact declining human well-being. But there is an economic model in which such non-ecological behaviour and waste of resources do not occur. This model is called a circular economy. The manuscript is focused on applying the circular economy within the enterprises of the Slovak Republic and individual EU states. An important task will be to use the information system and the method for obtaining data and subsequent processing. A properly set up circular economy can minimize the waste of resources, improve the efficiency of their use, reduce g reenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. © 2023, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social informatics and Telecommunications engineering.
