In recent years, the rapid advancement of electric vehicles has heightened concerns regarding the safety of high-energy batteries. Consequently, there has been a significant focus on the development of fault diagnosis technologies for batteries. Intelligent fault diagnosis (IFD), particularly data-driven approaches, represents a crucial methodology in addressing this concern. This paper proposes a data-driven approach, for IFD in high-energy batteries utilized in electric vehicles. The proposed Exponentially Weighted Average Variational Mode Decomposition (EWVMD) method overcomes these limitations by employing the exponential weighted moving average (EWMA) technique to smooth collected time-series voltage data. This process reduces noise, accentuates abnormal change trends, and yields secondary data with enhanced features. Subsequently, variational mode decomposition (VMD) is applied to the secondary data. The resulting decomposed sub-mode curves (intrinsic mode functions - IMFs) and the change trends of the residual curve, in conjunction with a fault threshold tailored to actual working conditions, are utilized to ascertain the occurrence of faults. Design verification experiments, the C42MSA electric vehicle power supply battery undergoes charging and discharging tests with injected faults at fixed intervals. The collected fault signals are then subjected to fault diagnosis using EWVMD. Results demonstrate the algorithm's superior detection effectiveness and increased sensitivity to fault signals compared to traditional methods.

Benzene (Bz) vapor is harmful for human health, even at trace concentration. Besides, Bz and cyclohexane (Cy) separation is very difficult, due to their similar kinetic diameter and boiling points. Designing an adsorption-separation material, having stronger interactions with Bz than Cy, could be a potential strategy for trace Bz adsorption and Bz/Cy separation. Herein, a novel Al-based metal-organic framework ZJU-521(Al), consisted by tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)methane and helical chain [Al5(OH)7(—COO)8]∞ secondary building unit, with simplest net of linking one-way rods and tetrahedra, is synthesized. It is with uniform micropore size of 7.23 Å and specific surface area of 1248 m2 g–1, having excellent trace Bz adsorption (4.18 mmol g–1) at P/P0 = 0.01, due to its straight channel and orthogonal-array pocket pore structure. The values of ideal adsorbed solution theory selectivity and separation factor of ZJU-521(Al) for Bz/Cy are 22.50 and 6.20, respectively, indicating that it is a potential material for Bz/Cy separation. From multi-component simulation, Bz molecules can be preferentially adsorbed in the pocket, because of the stronger interactions including Al–π and π ... π interactions, while Cy molecules are rapid breakthrough the channels due to weaker C–H...π interactions, resulting to Bz/Cy separation. © 2024, The Authors. In this paper we deal with stochastic optimization problems where the data distributions change in response to the decision variables. Traditionally, the study of optimization problems with decision-dependent distributions has assumed either the absence of constraints or fixed constraints. This work considers a more general setting where the constraints can also dynamically adjust in response to changes in the decision variables. Specifically, we consider linear constraints and analyze the effect of decision-dependent distributions in both the objective function and constraints. Firstly, we establish a sufficient condition for the existence of a constrained equilibrium point, at which the distributions remain invariant under retraining. Moreover, we propose and analyze two algorithms: repeated constrained optimization and repeated dual ascent. For each algorithm, we provide sufficient conditions for convergence to the constrained equilibrium point. Furthermore, we explore the relationship between the equilibrium point and the optimal point for the constrained decision-dependent optimization problem. Notably, our results encompass previous findings as special cases when the constraints remain fixed. To show the effectiveness of our theoretical analysis, we provide numerical experiments on both a market problem and a dynamic pricing problem for parking based on real-world data. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

This paper considers distributed nonconvex op-timization for minimizing the average of local cost functions, by using local information exchange over undirected communication networks. Since the communication channels often have limited bandwidth or capacity, we first introduce a quantization rule and an encoder/decoder scheme to reduce the transmission bits. By integrating them with a distributed algorithm, we then propose a distributed quantized nonconvex optimization algorithm. Assuming the global cost function satisfies the Polyak– Łojasiewicz condition, which does not require the global cost function to be convex and the global minimizer is not necessarily unique, we show that the proposed algorithm linearly converges to a global optimal point. Moreover, a low data rate is shown to be sufficient to ensure linear convergence when the algorithm parameters are properly chosen. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulation examples.

Radio frequency identification technology (RFID) is currently widely used in different applications such as inventory management, tracking or monitoring because of its high identification quality and low-cost. However, one of the key issues affecting the efficiency of RFID systems is tag collision. Among several solutions for tag collision, binary tree based anti-collision algorithms are commonly used. This paper presents a performance analysis of a list of recently proposed binary tree based anti-collision algorithms. The performance analysis is based on three criteria that include the search time, the data traffic and the system efficiency. The analysis shows a wide range of performances and that all anti-collision algorithms are applicable in different situations depending on the number of tags to be identified. Results show that, the adaptive-N tree and the optimized binary search algorithms offer the best performances. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper proposes a Risk-Averse Just-In-Time (RAJIT) operation scheme for Ammonia-Hydrogen-based Micro-Grids (AHMGs) to boost electricity-hydrogen-ammonia coupling under uncertainties. First, an off-grid AHMG model is developed, featuring a novel multi-mode ammonia synthesis process and a hydrogen-ammonia dual gas turbine with tunable feed-in ratios. Subsequently, a state-behavior mapping strategy linking hydrogen storage levels with the operation modes of ammonia synthesis is established to prevent cost-ineffective shutdowns. The proposed model substantially improves operational flexibility but results in a challenging nonlinear fractional program. Based upon this model, a data-driven RAJIT scheme is developed for the real-time rolling optimization of AHMGs. Unlike conventional one-size-fits-all schemes using one optimization method throughout, the data-driven RAJIT intelligently switches between cost-effective deterministic optimization and risk-averse online-learning distributionally robust optimization depending on actual risk profiles, thus capitalizing on the respective strengths of these two optimization methods. To facilitate the solution of the resulting nonlinear program, we develop an equivalent-reformulation-based solution methodology by leveraging a constraint-tightening technique. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees safety and yields an overall cost reduction up to 14.6% compared with several state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 IEEE.

In this paper, long-channel flexible In0.7Ga0.3As Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect-Transistors (MOSFETs) have been fabricated and characterized utilizing liquid polyimide (LPI) transfer. The fabricated In0.7Ga0.3As flexible MOSFETs with Lg = 4 µm shows excellent DC and electrostatic integrity such as threshold voltage (VT) of -0.12 V, maximum transconductance (gm,max) of 265 µS/µm, subthreshold swing (SS) of 112 mV/dec, and drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL) of 91 mV/V at VDS = 0.5 V, respectively. In addition, we have characterized gate length scaling behavior and our devices show uniform performances of VT = -0.11 to -0.15 V and SS = 108 to 118 mV/decade with various gate lengths ranging from 4 µm to 9 µm. Moreover, the device exhibits excellent effective mobility (μn_eff) = 3,667 cm2/V-s at room temperature. These excellent characteristics of the flexible In0.7Ga0.3As MOSFETs are attributed to optimized process technology for the flexible In0.7Ga0.3As MOSFETs using liquid polyimide (LPI) as well as optimized high-κ dielectrics of Al2O3/HfO2 (0.6/2 nm) for the gate dielectrics. © 2022, The Authors. In this study, we investigate the mechanical properties of gold (Au) materials using molecular dynamics simulations. In this simulation, the nanoindentation process was performed to analyze the deformation defects and hardness properties of Au under different indentation velocities. The results suggest that the deformation behavior of the Au specimen was affected by different indentation velocities. These findings were confirmed by examining the load-displacement curve, which indicated elastic deformation through the appearance of a linear load-displacement relationship at low indentation velocities. In contrast, plastic deformation was identified by the presence of intensified serrations in the load-displacement curve at higher indentation velocities. Under such conditions, the hardness exhibited minimal variation when the indenter velocity increased from 5 mls to 10 mls. However, a significant increase in hardness was noted when the indentation velocity was further raised to 15 mls.

This paper considers the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints over a network of agents, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. Existing distributed online algorithms require that each agent broadcasts its decision to its neighbors at each iteration. To better utilize the limited communication resources, we propose a distributed event-triggered online primal-dual algorithm with two-point bandit feedback. Under several classes of appropriately chosen decreasing parameter sequences and non-increasing event-triggered threshold sequences, we establish dynamic network regret and network cumulative constraint violation bounds. These bounds are comparable to the results achieved by distributed event-triggered online algorithms with full-information feedback. Communication Compression for Distributed Nonconvex Optimization

This paper considers distributed nonconvex optimization with the cost functions being distributed over agents. Noting that information compression is a key tool to reduce the heavy communication load for distributed algorithms as agents iteratively communicate with neighbors, we propose three distributed primal–dual algorithms with compressed communication. The first two algorithms are applicable to a general class of compressors with bounded relative compression error and the third algorithm is suitable for two general classes of compressors with bounded absolute compression error. We show that the proposed distributed algorithms with compressed communication have comparable convergence properties as state-of-the-art algorithms with exact communication. Specifically, we show that they can find first-order stationary points with sublinear convergence rate O(1/T) when each local cost function is smooth, where T is the total number of iterations, and find global optima with linear convergence rate under an additional condition that the global cost function satisfies the Polyak–Lojasiewicz condition.
