Informative and Long-Term Response Generation using Multiple Suggestions and User Persona Retrieval in a Dialogue System

Enhancing user satisfaction in dialogue systems relies on their ability to understand users and generate responses that meet their expectations. This study proposes a dialogue system that incorporates the Multi-Suggestions Transformer (MST) to generate informative and long-term responses. The MST combines empathy suggestions, system persona suggestions, and knowledge suggestions to produce comprehensive and informative responses. Additionally, the system employs a persona detection model and a persona extraction model to extract the user persona from current sentences and retrieve the most suitable user persona from the dialogue history. This facilitates long-term conversations by enabling the system to remember and respond to sentences relevant to the user persona. The proposed MST-based dialogue system outperforms the baseline in terms of informativeness, as evidenced by higher scores in BLEU, BERT-score, Distinct-n, and Perplexity on the Blended Skill Talk and Multi Session Chat datasets. Furthermore, two novel evaluation metrics, PerP and PerB, introduced in this study demonstrate the system’s effective utilization of the user persona for achieving long-term dialogue. Human subjective evaluation indicates that our model consistently outperforms the baseline, achieving superior scores of 68%, 56%, 52%, and 64% in the four subjective metrics. © 2024 J.-H. Hsu, T.-Y. This article conducts a comprehensive examination of brand-based equity closely linked to environmental sustainability in the Amazon Rainforest. The research is primarily dedicated to identifying the factors that influence consumers’ willingness to purchase products from sustainable brands within six categories: cosmetics, tourism, clothing, accessories, and food. The central aim of this study is to investigate how brand equity constructs, rooted in environmental sustainability within the Amazon Rainforest, impact consumer loyalty and purchase intention. To accomplish this objective, a mixed-methodology approach was employed, combining structural equation modeling with item response theory. This study involved 535 potential consumers, and data from eight selected brands served as the basis for the analysis. Within the framework of Purchase Intention (PI), the following variables were regarded as formative constructs: Strategic Brand Positioning (SBP), Perceived Brand Quality (PBQ), Retail Innovation (RI), and Brand Authenticity (BA). The results obtained from the structural equation models underscore the statistical significance and substantial impact of all pathways. Notably, SBP emerged as the most significant contributor to the effect on PI, as hypothesized. Brand equity and environmental sustainability were found to indirectly affect behavioral PI. Consumers exhibited a high level of latent trait (θ), with items consistently reflecting elevated values, confirming their acceptance of products, except brand differentiation. Overall, the findings highlight the effectiveness of branding strategies rooted in environmental sustainability in enhancing the brand equity of small forest companies. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Dimensionality reduction in 3D causal deep learning for neuroimage generation: an evaluation study

Purpose: Causal deep learning (DL) using normalizing flows allows the generation of true counterfactual images, which is relevant for many medical applications such as explainability of decisions, image harmonization, and in-silico studies. However, such models are computationally expensive when applied directly to high-resolution 3D images and, therefore, require image dimensionality reduction (DR) to efficiently process the data. The goal of this work was to compare how different DR methods affect counterfactual neuroimage generation. Approach: Five DR techniques [2D principal component analysis (PCA), 2.5D PCA, 3D PCA, autoencoder, and Vector Quantised-Variational AutoEncoder] were applied to 23,692 3D brain images to create low-dimensional representations for causal DL model training. Convolutional neural networks were used to quantitatively evaluate age and sex changes on the counterfactual neuroimages. Age alterations were measured using the mean absolute error (MAE), whereas sex changes were assessed via classification accuracy. Results: The 2.5D PCA technique achieved the lowest MAE of 4.16 when changing the age variable of an original image. When sex was changed, the autoencoder embedding led to the highest classification accuracy of 97.84% while also significantly impacting the age variable predictions, increasing the MAE to 5.24 years. Overall, 3D PCA provided the best balance, with an age prediction MAE of 4.57 years while maintaining 94.01% sex classification accuracy when altering the age variable and 94.73% sex classification accuracy and the lowest age prediction MAE (3.84 years) when altering the sex variable. Conclusions: 3D PCA appears to be the best-suited DR method for causal neuroimage analysis. © 2025 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

In recent years,deep learning methods have been introduced for segmentation and classi-fication of leaf lesions caused by pests and *** the commonly used approaches,convolutional neural networks have provided results with high *** purpose of this work is to present an effective and practical system capable of seg-menting and classifying different types of leaf lesions and estimating the severity of stress caused by biotic agents in coffee leaves using convolutional neural *** proposed approach consists of two stages:a semantic segmentation stage with severity calculation and a symptom lesion classification *** stage was tested separately,highlighting the positive and negative points of each *** obtained very good results for the severity estimation,suggesting that the model can estimate severity values very close to the real *** the biotic stress classification,the accuracy rates were greater than 97%.Due to the promising results obtained,an App for Android platform was developed and imple-mented,consisting of semantic segmentation and severity calculation,as well as symptom classification to assist both specialists and farmers to identify and quantify biotic stresses using images of coffee leaves acquired by smartphone.

Immersive learning has gained significant attention with the rising trend of spatial computing, particularly in the after-pandemic era. Numerous research has explored the potential of immersive learning in higher education, primarily on the educational sector. However, prior research has frequently focused too narrowly on the effects of technology and neglected to address the crucial element influencing successful immersive learning in higher education. This study seeks to pinpoint the crucial element contributing to the development of immersive learning experiences. The methodology uses a systematic literature review (SLR) from 2018 up to 2023 to investigate the critical factors of immersive Learning in Higher Education. From the 728 papers initially retrieved, 274 were considered potential candidates, and ultimately, 86 articles were selected based on their relevance to the research question. The results reveal that the critical factors include learning design, technology, immersion, engagement, interactivity, and usability. Academic interests will benefit from this SLR's consequences as institutions create models for designing suitable immersive learning, especially within the context of higher education. © 2023 IEEE.

Foreign Exchange market is the world's largest daily currency turnover. Two of the popular currencies Euro and Pound sterling traded against the US Dollar. Since the Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022, their exchange rates decrease to the lowest rate ever. Even though the general trend is bearish, several daily candles increase for some days making challenges for forex analysts. To solve this problem, classification is applied. The data is labeled downward and upward. By utilizing Linear Kernel and Radial Basis Function (RBF) Kernel-based Support Vector Machines (SVM), the candle direction can be classified and optimized by tuning the Hyperparameters. The accuracy of candle direction classifications are highly improved. After tuning, in general, classification using Linear Models can outperform RBF Models. The best accuracy found on the Pound sterling against US Dollar by using the Linear model is 98.11% and the accuracy becomes 100% on data testing at a ratio of 70:30. Whilst for the Euro against the US Dollar, the best accuracy found the same for both Linear and RBF models on a ratio of 80:20 at 97.53%. However, on data testing, it decreases to 94.51% for Linear Model and 93.41% using RBF Model. The implication of this study is SVM can successfully classify candle direction on pairs in the Forex Market that are affected by a big event that comes for such a long period as long as the hyperparameter is tuned. © 2022 IEEE.

Because of the advancement of new technologies and the popularity of mobile devices, this study was designed to identify whether apps have a representative influence on companies' brand image. To fulfill this objective, descriptive research based on the structural equation model was carried out with the help of the statistical software Adanco. The study was conducted in Brasilia and applied in a virtual environment in the Google forms platform. The link was made available and disseminated to students of one university and through the WhatsApp and Facebook social networks, having 350 mobile device users as participants. The questionnaire was validated with α=0.81. The results of this research suggest that applications can influence 30.5% of a brand's image, thus raising the discussion that mobile applications will soon have equal or even greater importance than a website and social networks, tools that were once trends and are now essential requirements for organizations. Thus, for a company to be successful, it must not only be seen as a company with high performance and quality standards, but it must also represent a solid brand with a good reputation in the market and create and cultivate an image that connects emotionally with its consumer public. © 2022 The Authors. An accurate predictive model of temperature and humidity plays a vital role in many industrial processes that utilize a closed space such as in agriculture and building management. With the exceptional performance of deep learning on time-series data, developing a predictive temperature and humidity model with deep learning is propitious. In this study, we demonstrated that deep learning models with multivariate time-series data produce remarkable performance for temperature and relative humidity prediction in a closed space. In detail, all deep learning models that we developed in this study achieve almost perfect performance with an R value over 0.99.

Recently, cooking oil has been widely discussed on social media. Many people ask how to analyze this phenomenon, one of which is using a sentiment analysis application on Twitter that performs a scientific analysis of the tweets of this media user. This study aims to test the performance of the sentiment analysis algorithm utilizing the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) algorithm from Twitter, which is used to classify the types of tweets processed in 2000 tweets. The study shows the results of the confusion matrix, accuracy, and precision. The study obtained a fairly good accuracy and precision performance of 84%, which occurred at a learning rate of 1e-6 and epoch 5. The author also discusses the factors that affect the performance of BERT, such as;pre-processing, data quantity, and data variation. © 2022 IEEE.

Technological advancements are increasingly evident across various sectors, including automobiles, industry, and healthcare. In precision agriculture, significant progress has been made, with AgroTICs and Smart Agriculture gaining substantial traction in the market. However, a gap remains between cutting-edge technology and family farming, presenting a challenge from both social and applied research perspectives. However, there is still a gap between cutting-edge technology and family farming, which creates a challenge from a social and applied research point of view. In this context, this paper proposes a monitoring model based on Fuzzy Logic and sensor automation applied to estimate the health of a corn crop. The proposed Fuzzy inference system involves calculating an indicator of nutrients as well as the average color and area of corn plants. The nutrient indicator is automatically computed by an ESP32 microcontroller using sensor readings, while the average color and area inputs are manually entered via a mobile application. Additionally, the Fuzzy inference is integrated into the ESP32. The model underwent experimental validation on the health of the plantation, and the results were evaluated in four areas: one was designated for testing, and three were for validation. The model achieved an accuracy of 97.5% in Scenario 3, categorized as ’Very Favorable’, and an accuracy of 65% in Scenarios 2 and 4, categorized as ‘Unfavorable’. The implications of this research contribute to the advancement of AgroTICs among small producers, with the potential to enhance and automate the monitoring of their harvest production.
